and all much stronger in the section session at various times. i think it's worth thinking about why it's been so hard to staunch the relentless bleeding of the market. some say it's the high-profile growth others argue it's the fact we have so much uncertainty we know the fed will be aggressive but not how aggressive putin will be crazy but how crazy? and china, how long will they continue to lockdown but as the stock picker from my travel trust, which you can find out what i'm doing by joining investing club, i've got an entirely different take. the chief reason the market is so difficult is we have not so hot earnings yet with, wall street's not adopting the usual posture that's not as bad as fear. forgiveness reigned. within two or three days not anymore. case and point, this is one of
6:02 pm
the worst performing stocks in years. going the quarter netflix had already been cut in half they may have thought there's no way the numbers could be as bad as feared, right but they were worse than feared. hence why the stock's nearly been cut in half again the netflix has stung up all services, including spotify. doesn't matter stock's down again anyway. it's an unforgiving market there are tons of stock that can rally now. that have come down from their highs. we need to figure out what can make those rallies possible. what needs to happen for them to rebound and not fall off into the netflix. i've been searching and searching.
6:03 pm
first, we have the exclamation and that's for good news meaning the stock's entitled to go up. this is what we're looking for second well, then there's the question mark, chess master, which means it's going down pretty much no matter what. and then the new favorite i really love and it's called the asterisk meaning it would have been a great quarter or more importantly, if it weren't for an asterisk, right and then you fill in the blanks. if it weren't for x. the asterisk may not be doing that well. but they've got a good excuse. so, maybe we'll buy them later tonight, we have al kelly in the show. oh, my god, way better than expected tremendous card growth themal exception boeing russia they had to walk with away from it despite a considerable loss from
6:04 pm
shutting down russia, vees issau's numbers were so good how did they do it got to stay tuned. right now, when you think of visa, you should think of this next how about microsoft. here's a stock that was down hard in after hours trading because a new service had an erroneous account that azure's cloud business failed to meet expectations they still trade off this stuff no matter what i do. should i give up just one moment. my executive producer, how many years have i said don't trade after hours if you don't know what you're talking about? 16 years i wanted to clarify that like visa, microsoft had a weakness, in high single digits. whoa, scary. the rest of the business is firing on all cylinders. that's why microsoft was
6:05 pm
initially down hard and ended up jumping nearly 5% today. so, all right. now, how about, yes, the ill fatd and we know this from watching a netflix show about chess. we don't remember anything from netflix anymore, right what's the question mark that would be boeing those are the kinds of words you can't say on basic cable or even dot com. let me put it like this. if the world had four or five commercial jet bankers, boeing would be one of a lifetime but there's only two of them airbus we initially quoted a nice rally. some at a nifty profit but we made the mistake of keeping the rest at this point, there's almost nothing going right here i'm almost as fed up as my friend who actually called for ceo's head he mentioned it on a platter like alfredo garcia's.
6:06 pm
yes, demanding he be fired i have to tell you the litany of excuses is growing too long. air force ones harrison ford. still no china deal. and fa safety issues boeing just can't get its act together i'm wonder figure maybe it can't go higher as long as calhoun remains ceo. brutal verdict finally, the area i find most increaging the one i think we're going to find in the future, 2022, the most used and that's companies that get asterisk. the earnings get annast * there's something that you can easily explain away. maybe the stock is worth buying because it could get forgiven later. and sometimes good, sometimes

bad, depending on the way it's presented. last night we had texas instruments and apple. the first had a not so hot quarter. stock plunged blink of an eye. sat there. those of us that bothered to read the release, which i did and listened to the conference call, came to the conclusion they had a good quarter just a hole when it came to the chinese client not themselves not caesar so, i put an asterisk on it. texas texas instruments would have had a good quarter with f not for china. stock opened hideously people fleeing like rats on the ship and people accepted the asterisk and took the stock back up where
6:08 pm
it closed in the black yes. of course, this is what -- kind of what we have have done for you lately a market. you're probably saying thanks for nothing. so, listen to me you've got an alphabet asterisk. this decline off last night's amazing quarter was an absolute trav sta e everything was all systems go. but there were weakness in the european youtube ad business ukraine's in europe, who would have thought which is how this became a so-called missed quarter i say this is the sign you should think of when you think of alphabet. there's a big war going on so, what were they supposed to do what did you expect? i think we'll look back and say wait a second, that excuse makes sense. you wish you'd done some buying. by that point, you'll be too late and alphabet stocks will be coveted once again
6:09 pm
then meta platforms, thee artis formerly known as facebook the second quarter revenue was light but the asterisk said what was that all about guess what many thought they'd dropd and they're up 4%. and they boat at the bottom line and cut four-year guidance, expense guidance by 3 billion. what started as kind of, let's say an ugly asterisk ended up as a beautiful exclamation point. in just a few minutes time here's the bottom line exclamation point, yes, question mark, no and just maybe. and that's where the money can be made after the earnings moll matt. >> matt from st. lewis here. long time, first time, how you doing here
