summer. >> it's friday. >> it's a two-fer. we begin with the party that i hear is still going on in miami. in the middle of the night, lebron james leads to heat to the second nba title. they beat the spurs. the winner takes all. it was a thriller. lebron james saved the best for last. five three-pointers. really good. he picked up his second straight finals mvp award. this is the celebration. the party that's been going on all night long in miami. you know, they know how to throw a party. andy this morning, breaking down the heat's dramatic game seven victory. good morning, andy. >> good morning, john. often the hype of a game seven is too much to live up to. that was not the case last night between the heat and the spurs. this was an instant classic. neither team led by more than seven points the entire game.

miami up when shane got this one. he was 6 for 8 from downtown in the game. the heat up by six. the spurs would not go away. duncan took the lead back to three. down by two. this is a play duncan will never forget. he misses the point-blank shot. on the next possession, the king, lebron james puts this one away with a dagger. he finished with 37 points and 12 rebounds. 37 points ties the record for most points in an nba finals game. heat won 95-88. they play back-to-back nba titles. lebron is the mvp guy for the second straight season. >> he did earn it. he knows he earned it based on how he was posing for the picture. andy, great to see you, thank you. the party is still on in miami. their team winning back-to-back

reasons behind the sell off. the first started wednesday when fed chairman ben bernanke said they may slow down the amount of money they are pumping into the economy each month. >> gradually reducing the pace of purchases. >> reporter: the second, overnight thursday bad news from china. manufacturing production fell. the economy isn't growing as fast as it had been. the pros say this was bound to happen after months of gains and record highs. in fact, the fed pulling back is a sign the economy is getting better. >> there's no fear or panic going on. we know it's going to be a nice, slow, orderly process to see if our economy can stand on its own again. >> stocks were only part of the bad news. a metal meltdown. gold, the filter is dropping like a rock, losing a quarter of

in canada due to big-time flooding. 100,000 people could be forced from their homes. torrential rainfall wiping out roads and bridges. here is how it looked to one terrified resident. >> holy [ bleep ]. there it is. >> wow! >> that is just crazy. a dozen communities in southern alberta are under states of emergency this morning. there was more rain in the forecast. i can't get over the force of that. >> here in the u.s., fire is threat out west. in arizona, the first major wildfire is spreading, threatening more homes. this is 10% contained. dry conditions fueling the fire in the prescott national forest. the blaze already burned 6400 acres now. it's forced the evacuation of 460 homes. the cost of the operation is $2.6 million.

officials believe this is a manmade fire, the exact cause still under investigation. there's good news on the fire lines in colorado this morning. the black forest fire, one of the most destructive in the state's history is now fully contained. another fire close to denver forced evacuation there of some dozen homes. we are tracking all the weather this friday. what is the weekend going to be like? >> it's the first day of summer, we are loving that. no rain in the northeast. beautiful weather in store. a lot of people are saying it's summertime, what is it going to look like. we have the outlook. above normal temperatures and in the northeast above normal temperatures. as far as rainfall, we are talking below average rainfall. in the pacific northwest looking for less rain for the summer months. yes, we are talking about this weekend's forecast. itis a friday. it's beautiful. finally seeing the lovely 80s.

from the northeast up to the mid-atlantic, a couple showers over the weekend. we are talking perfect temperatures out there. we are watching the low that's persistent now over the dakotas and minnesota. heavy rainfall and flooding concerns, two to four inches expected in minnesota. we are going monitor that. we are talking a ridge of high pressure close to low pressure. the reason it's important, we are talking southwesterly wind pumping into the areas. low humidity is not good news for them. >> thank you. the investigation under way this morning after two planes came dangerously close. the faa looking at why a delta 747 came close to a shuttle america commuter flight taking off. the two were less than 100 feet apart. this happened friday afternoon, last friday afternoon. both planes did land safely. nsas ease dropping program. new documents show the nsa can

and does collect the details of american's phone calls and e-mails, not just those of foreigners, only if they believe it contains information that can help with intelligence overseas and if they got it while monitoring foreigners. the guardian says the nsa can keep the information up to five years. a criminal case against the man who leaked details of the nsa program edward snowden. the company that conducted his background check is under criminal investigation. senator claire mccaskill says they conducted a faulty review. later today, president obama expected to officially name the next fbi director. he's been rumored to be picked for weeks. he was under george w. bush. it took nine days but a jury has been picked in the trial for

george zimmerman. the six person jury is all female. five white, one is black and hispanic. many share something in common. >> reporter: most of the six women deciding george zimmerman's fate have had a connection to firearms. it's a common thread shared with half of the jurors in the pool. >> my husband had a .9 mm. >> my brother-in-law has hunting rifles. >> i fired a gun one time in my life and fell on my butt. >> i have two handguns. >> those answers are not surprising to people familiar with florida, a state where there are more than 1 million concealed weapon permit holders. he's spent more than 15 years handling firearm cases. he says having an all female jury could help zimmerman's

welcome back, everyone. new this morning, an autopsy has been completed for the late "sopranos" star, james gandolfini. the results of the autopsy, they are expected later today. we are finding out more this morning about gandolfini's final hours. michelle turner has the latest. >> reporter: gandolfini was staying at this hotel with his family when he fell ill at the bathroom. his son making the frantic call for help. doctors attempted to resuscitate him for 40 minutes but unable to restart his heart. he was traveling with his wife and daughter. as they wait for results, the television family is sharing more about the man they describe as generous, loyal, humble. >> she can stay with us, if she

nasdaq and s&p 500. in asia, a mixed bag. in europe this morning, the tone has been positive with the index all a little bit higher. you like that? is commodity markets got slammed on thursday. they are coming back. gold. gold yesterday, unbelievable, 2 1/2 year low. it's rebounding slightly. oil is rebounding. gold, if you are buying it thinking it's a safe haven, it's lost 25% of its value this year. 25%. just when might the terrible taper begin? when the federal reserve cuts back on the $85 billion in bonds it is buying every month. the idea the fed might do that according to bloomberg, 44% said they thought the taper would begin in september. economists saw the buying ending

index coming off the highest of the year. it's lost more than 550 points in just two days. again, futures look brighter this morning. >> still no answers this morning in the case of a man found dead near the home of all pro football player, aaron hernandez. police are not labeling him a suspect in the man's death, not now, at least. he's been banned from the patriots practice facility. we have more. >> reporter: the em battled patriots tight end spend much of thursday away from home. he drove to the stadium as a news helicopter tracked him overhead. he hustled into the facility. next, he stopped for gas where he was bombarded with questions from reporters. >> can you tell us anything you want to say? what happened on monday night? can you tell us what happened

angry words between them? >> not that i know. >> back at the crime scene, investigators using metal detectors poked through piles of dirt looking for evidence in the murder. the lawyer won't comment on the investigation. wbz reports he met with his client in downtown boston on thursday. developing this morning, severe flooding in western canada could force 100,000 people from calvary. mandatory evacuation orders for 20 communities in southern alberta. >> they could use some of the water in the western u.s. arizona's first major wildfire burning out of control in the national forest. the fire burned 7500 acres, some 460 homes evacuated. the cost of fighting this fire is said to be $2.6 million. the cause still under investigation this morning. officials believe the fire was man maid.

a dust storm kicking up trouble in texas. it's a wall of dust, call add haboob. it reduced visibility to near zero. >> we are tracking dust storms, wildfires, flooding, doing it all for us. >> standing with dirt going in your mouth trying to report, not good guys. not good at all. i want to go back to the basics. why do we have so many wildfires right now? the main reason is where we get the rain. in the summer, we start to dry out the vegetation. by fall, a typical wind time where the fires are going. unfortunately, we need to get all the rainfall we needed. typically, fire season the strongest at the peak during the fall. since it's so dry, the huge deficit and rain seeing fall-like conditions early on. the fire scene is going to be very long as we continue into november. we have the fire watches, red

this happened last week. both planes did land safely. again, they want to know how they got so close. the senate debates immigration reform. a proposal from the top senate backers require stepped up border security including 700 miles of fences. didn't they pass that in 2006? more than $3 billion in technology upgrades and border agents each 1,000 feet. supporters hopeful this will win over the votes necessary to pass immigration reform. defeat in the house for a farm bill. lawmakers voting down the proposal. it would have cut some $20 billion for food stamps which was a sticking point for some democrats. some republicans still thought it was too expensive. the senate already approved its version of the bill with a larger price tag and smaller food stamp cuts.

>> mental evaluation accused of an actress accused of sending ricin letters to president obama. she must go through a psychological exam within 30 days. her own attorney requested the exam saying she may not be able to assist in her own defense. she's been in prison since her arrest on june 7th. tears in the courtroom at the trial of james whitey bulger. she told the jurors about the night her car his hit with gunfire leaving her friend dead and her boyfriend a quadriplegic. neither witness able to say bulger was responsible for the shooting. former hitman and bulger associate testified earlier this week he accidentally sprayed the car with bullets thinking it was that of a gang rival. >> decision day for a white collar criminal. a judge expected to rule today on whether former enron ceo

skilling should be released early. if the judge signs off his 24 year sentence could be reduced and he could be out in 2017. the u.s. is or was poised to talk about bringing an end to the fighting in afghanistan. also in play, the fate of an american soldier held captive since 2009. barbara starr has more. >> reporter: there may be fragile new hope for the release of this sergeant. >> release me, please. i'm begging you. bring me home, please. bring me home. >> reporter: he is the only american soldier known to be in captivity held for the last four years by insurgents along the afghanistan/pakistan border. now the u.s. and taliban are on the verge of a face-to-face
