conservati conservationist. and tell me your thoughts about what is happening here? >> well, it is a contradiction of perseverance. no way to honor preserving something by killing it. >> well, two points of interest, because coming out of namimbia says that hunting is not taken lightly and only geriatric bulls and do not contribute to the population are trophy hunted. >> well, it is a mixed message if you are going to conserve or, you know, if you are going to kill off, and when you take, and when you take that stance, you are, you're creating a controversial stance that

contradicts itself. so really, what it comes down to is that you can't have it both ways in terms of the conservation. i would challenge the dallas safari club to only auction off that license to someone who promises not the use it. that would be a wiser way to raise this awareness that there is a potential to kill a rhino through the licenses issued by the namimbian government, but it is not a step that is taken. >> and so i guess that there is the possibility that somebody could buy the permit and never use it, but let me ask you. is there any danger to the hunter here? >> it is my understand iing tha in terms of them being -- how do you mean? >> well, you know, say someone buys this permit, and wants to go and hunt the rhinoceros, and you know, how will -- it is a dangerous animal?

way, and is to grow the community reserves and grow the kun tri's natural reserves so that the rhinos can be both conserved and the people of namimbia can benefit from the tourist dollars that can come through by having the rhinos alive and not threatened. you have a declining population of black rhinos of little over 5,000 alive in the wild today that could be nurtured to increase the population in namimbia and increase tourism, and looking at approximately $7,000 in u.s. dollars in annual tourism to namimbia, and that can increase, and also increase the economic well-being of the people who are part of the reserves and those community programs. >> john zaller, appreciate your calling in, and we will follow
