4:15 am
not based on the collective bargaining agreement laid out between the union and major league baseball. there's no basis for it. everyone else got 50 games. somehow 162 is what was levied to alex for no reason. ryan braun, who actually tested positive, unlike alex, and went on a cam pan to besmirch the test collectors wound up with 65 games. that in and of itself is a basis to get us into federal court. >> but what's a-rod's problem? he doesn't seem to want to come clean and say what he had said in the past, which is i did the drugs, i did the peds. how long the suspension is, that's a secondary issue. but that basic proposition, why doesn't he just come clean and say like i said in 2009, yes, i took them but it's bigger than me. why doesn't he make a statement like that? >> he doesn't make a statement like that because he doesn't accept it, it's not true. and this is not like hide the

4:18 am
alex because mlb is giving him a sweet deal, millions of dollars and a book deal, they've agreed to go to federal prosecutors to make sure they do what they can to get him out of a prosecution for pedaling controlled substances to minors in miami, which is unconscionable that major league baseball would put the prosecution of alex rodriguez above the safety of the youth in our society. forget about what i say, it's the science. bosch said in october of 2012 before games three and four of the playoff series between the tigers and yankees in detroit that he was there and he injected alex with testosterone. alex was randomly tested before game four and turned up negative. it would be scientifically impossible for those two facts to be consistent. >> why is a-rod hanging out with a guy like this --

what comes next in my skating career. even though the decision was shocking it was expected. the u.s. figure skating championships are not olympic trials like swimming or track and field. the committee that makes these decisions takes into account an athletes recent history. wagner is currently ranked the second best for women's figure skater in the world right now. i'm guessing that definitely factored into this decision. >> that anticipateds to the pressure that you know she would already be feeling if she's going to the olympic games. andy, thank you. it helps what andy said. not like track and field where the people who finish that's how they make the team. politics involved. we know when there's politics involved somebody will be upset. let's get over to indra petersons who is sitting right here. we don't have to go anywhere. >> about a week ago temperatures were like 10 below, not normal. do you remember that. clearly. so today definitely a lot better

out there. temperatures a good 15 degrees above average right now. so that's a good starting place. yes we'll be cooling down but nowhere like what we saw last week. notice the purple, that's the arctic air. it's staying where it should to be north. cooler air is making its way in. normal air making its way in. what are we looking at. cold fronts making their way. little system bringing rain in the south around the gulf spreading into the ohio valley by tonight. making its way into the northeast and southeast by tomorrow. quickly moves out. might look at the map to see one, two, three, four, these are the cold fronts. every time one passes another one comes behind it. this is the pattern over the next several days. none of them a big deal. a little bit of rain and couple degrees of cooling with each one. that's why i started off with that not 65 below. looks good. >> coming up on "new day" quite a golden night at the golden globes. it wasn't all about acting.

welcome back. lots of laughs and drinks were flowing at last night's golden globes hosted by tina fey and amy poehler. here to talk about it, nichelle turner, the tiredest girl i ever met and bradley jacobs. good morning to both of you. let's start with you nichelle. one of the highs i think you would agree is tina faye and amy poehler. they have the most difficult job. everyone is so quick to be so critical. >> they make it took so easy. that's what the fun thing is about watching them. you know, the trick for them, i think they still go after people but they do it in not a mean way. so it's like the crowd feels at ease and at home and safe with them as opposed to rickie who was being mean. they give some zingers but for some reason it's a spoonful of sugar.
