having sex a little less lately. maybe you are asking your husband to do household chores. we are going to try to get to the bottom of it on valentine's day. hello, everyone. i'm john berman. >> i'm michaela pereira. so glad to have you with us. those stories and more. this is the winter that keeps on giving in a bad, bad way. the snow days, the flight delays, the flight cancellations. they are adding up costing the economy millions, and millions of dollars. >> a third day of jury deliberations in the so-called loud music trial is underway. jurors are deciding right now whether michael dunn killed jordan davis in cold blood or self-defense. dunn is a 47-year-old white man. davis was black and 17. he was shot dead in a dispute with dunn over loud music. it all went down at a gas station in jacksonville, florida, in november, 2012.

8:03 am
there are three accident areas right around where we were, exit 343. the accident was at exit 350. 12-20 vehicles were involved. that's the estimate right now from the state trooper. they have investigators on the scene. we are probably not going to get the exact numbers until this weekend, saturday or sunday. the second accident area was westbound between 351 and 343. two to three cars with involved in that accident, about 10-15 miles behind us was another accident. a medvac helicopter came in and pulled out one person. that injury is nonlife threatening. we did see a local report saying that five of these injuries are hospital trauma cases. now, where we were, we were headed eastbound on the other side. we saw ambulance taking off in the opposite direction. we had official cars trying to squeeze by. everybody was trying to pull over so they could get by on our side. we were asked to turn around.
8:04 am
we made our way out of there. the larger trucks aren't going to be able to get out of there as fast as we were. there could be a three or four-hour delay for them. >> we are getting remarkable live pictures right now of yards, miles, endless traffic jam. that appears to be at least one of the accidents that took place right there. you can see those cars simply smashed together. over the last week or so, we have seen other pictures of people walking around giving up. that was because of the weather. in he sense the weather, the stoor storms we have had in this part of the country, any sense that had to do with these accidents. >> i asked the state trooper about that. there was snow, power outages, ice, rain. he said, no. right now, these accidents are not attributed to weather. he said, these accidents were
8:05 am
caused by irresponsible drivers, people driving too fast and following too closely. i called him back and asked him again if weather is a factor. earlier this morning, there was some ice on the roads. it accident happened around 8:00. everything melted down. he stands by that. there is going to be an investigation this weekend. that's when we will get more information. >> we are seeing more of these pictures. >> it seems to go on and on and on. many of the cars look like they were involved in accidents. some of the cars just stopped. margaret conley, thank you so much. you may not be going anywhere for quite some time. >> emergency crews aren't going to be able to get through this. cars going the wrong direction and being spun around. some fender benders. some far worse. >> it doesn't appear be to the weather that caused this mess but the weather has been making huge problems for a lot of people up and down the east coast.

8:07 am
delayed. we don't see a lot of people at airports like we did back in the day. folks stay home once they know their flight has been canceled. we are talking about 1300 cancellations around the country and 1600 delays. now, the delays here at laguardia airport according to the faa, that's about an hour and seven minutes. it is not too bad. if you look at misery map around the country, laguardia is at number five. we were at number six earlier. we are rising in the misery map. if your love is in the air, then that's probably a good thing considering all of the flight cancellations. john, micayla. >> a misery map. that's the first time i have heard that. >> thanks so much, rosa. she was on the side of the road looking at the traffic and now she is at the airport talking to people who can't get anywhere by plane. thanks so much. let's turn to alison kosik on wall street.

8:17 am
in the united states over the last 25 years is a smaller and smaller share of americans are actually paying any income tax. i do agree we should have a country that people who vote should pay some tax, even if it is a very little amount. so everybody has some skin in the game. that's not talking about taking the vote away from people. it is changing our tax system so that everybody is paying at least something. i think most americans would probably agree with that. here is the point i would make about the comment by these two ceos. there is some truth that we are blaming a lot of the problems that the middle class and lower income people are facing, specially people in poverty and rich people. the people in the top 1%, 2%, 3%, they are the people that create the jobs and sign the paychecks. it doesn't help poor people to try to tear down the rich. what we want to do is have people climb the economic ladder rather than pointing our spears at people that have been successful. >> it doesn't help rich people

to tear down the poor either. >> snathat's a good point. >> there has been an interesting discussion about whether everybody in the united states should pay some kind of taxes. that's a separate argument than saying what perkins admitted was an outrageous comment but he didn't apologize for it, which is that rich people should have more votes. he is saying that rich people aren't just worth more economically but somehow worth more as americans, worth more from a moral standpoint there. i think that's what bothers people so much. >> that's offensive, i agree with you. i'm not going to defend that statement. >> look, i do think people who are rich for the most part, people that have done it the right way by start ag business, working hard and pulling themselves up by their boot straps and employing people. that's people we should hold up as to what we all aspire to be. the idea they should get more votes than the rest of us, as a member of themile cla middle cl

in with a verdict. don't get too into what a particular question is as an indicator of verdict. it is not always an easy thing to predict. >> they want to look at the video from the gas station and some evidence as to the trajectory of the bullet. they wanted a letter written from the defendant which outlined the case and they wanted something that actually raised my eyebrows a little bit. they wanted an easel, a white board easel. that made me wonder, we never know for sure what goes on in the jury room. could this be an activist jury that wants to start drawing die agrams and start charting their course. >> paul hit it right on the head. don't marry yourself too much to the meaning of a particular question, because the ultimate verdict may be totally opposite to what you concluded based on

would it kill you to clean the bathroom? a new study finds all of that could actually hurt your sex life just a little bit. >> so this study is a real study, actually appeared in a so sociology journal, getting life in a "new york times" article written by lori gottlieb, couples therapist. also joining us, an expert in erotic intelligence. and also the author of the book "mating in captivity." >> lori, let's talk with you, my friend in las vegas los angeles. is this for real? don't we want men to help out around the house? happy wife, happy life. isn't everybody happy? >> we absolutely want them to help around the house, so men are not off the hook. what the study found, if men did more feminine chores like dishes, laundry, they had sex 1.5 fewer time per month with their wives than if they did masculine chores like taking out the trash or fixing the chore.

>> so not only do we need more about erotic intelligence, more about math. this is getting more and more complicated for dudes here. you know, i get mixed messages here, speaking on behalf of all men everywhere. what are we supposed to do then? >> i think that it's not just about getting seduced by the statistics of sex is actually a very good idea. and sex does not just get measured by frequency. it also gets measured by quality and connection and pleasure. so what i would say for men, in the realm of the domestic, keep doing more. keep going to this legaltarian idea. allow yourself to have fatherhood in a way that most fathers never had. in the form of the erotic, know that what ignites desire is not the same as what fuels love. the domestic and the erotic are not one and the same, and play by different rules. >> maybe there is something to that, lori. you can sound off on this. the separation between church

and state. you know, let's try and keep things, you know, divided. we don't worry about trying to be sexy when we're vacuuming to begin with. if we just separate these things and find equal ways to contribute to the household, and then we also keep things healthy in the bedroom, then everything works out. or am i just looking through rose-colored glasses here? >> well, i think you're right. i think that people need to have equal respect and equal power in a relationship. but how that plays out doesn't need to be the same. so equality doesn't necessarily mean sameness. and especially in the bedroom, a lot of people as i talk about in the article, are a little bit confused about well, if we're going to be in a 50/50 marriage, what does 50/50 sex look like? >> let me ask you this. i'm extremely uncomfortable talking about this right here. >> welcome to america. >> welcome to america, thank you. are we all better off talking more about this? >> look, i do think that we're better off having healthy, rich, complex conversations about sexuality that don't just turn
8:55 am
into smut or sank timony. i think many people do not talk much about sexuality and especially with the person they're having the sexual relationship with. i think if we don't look at sex just as something we do, but as a place we go, inside ourselves, with another, then you begin to look at sexuality as an expression of who you are. and then it becomes a very different way of talking about sex than what do you want to do, where do you want to touch. >> the specifics. >> yes. >> thank you so much for contributing to this conversation. lori gottlieb from los angeles. seems a perfect kfgs for valentine's day, no? >> and it is valentine's day. we want to leave you with a final thought here. if you watch cable tv, which by definition you do, don't make me get all meta here. >> oh-oh. >> you have undoubtedly noted this commercial on tv, including on cnn. >> guys, this valentine's day, size really does matter. so if you want to score big points with your valentine, go big with the big hunk of love bear from vermont teddy bear. this guy is a four and a half

foot tall pile of awesome. >> all right. this is is the vermont teddy bear company trying to sell for valentine's day. see if you can understand what their publish message is here, right? subtle, right? wrong. it's not subtle at all. it's like what i like to call a single entendre. the clear pitch, if you give the gift of vermont teddy bear equals sex, either for you, the teddy bear or maybe both. i'm not judging. advertising is a very good thing for our business, and i would not look a gift horse in the mouth or in this case a gift bear or gift porn bear. >> oh, my goodness. >> i'm wondering what we're supposed to be left with as viewers. is this weird, sexy, or, again, both? not judging. >> i think you might have checked off all of the boxes, as did your commentary and cable rage. >> tweet us @thishour. >> thanks so much for joining us. >> i'm john berman.
