hello again. the intensifying search for flight 370 that is our top story this hour. right now military personnel are searching vast areas of deep ocean, land and expanding 11 countries looking for any kinds of signing for that missing jet. pakistan's foreign ministry says the jet did not show up on its radars. and the times of india is reporting that india's military is saying that there is no way that the plane flew over it's
1:01 pm
territory without being spotted. and france is joining in the investigation on the ground in malasia. it is sending a team right now to help review any evidence. the search area on land includes remote regions. crews are going to the south and the other to the north. satellite signals picked up on the flight for 7 hours after the last contact with the pilots. officials announced today that the last contact could have come from the plane on the ground. u.s. intelligence is leading to the idea that the pilot is responsible.
1:02 pm
it's almost hard to find a beginning point. >> it is. you just can't, the lack of data is so incredible. i think that we just have one ping from a satellite that was a communication satellite that they didn't turn off. now, i believe that it is likely that there are other pings that we don't know about as the public. not that the plane flew this way, but that it flew across it. it is not a flight path but then there is something else. the same thing is here. it could have flown across this way and pinged here. it could have flown there and pinged here. this is part of a bad plan because there is not gps sent from the planes down to the ground. this is one ping of a circle there. there is a satellite in space
1:03 pm
there. they call it the hand shake there. they found out that the distance would have put that plane somewhere along that ring. now we have to start eliminating the ring. it didn't have enough fuel plus it wasn't fast enough to get there. and then they are saying you know what, we have great coverage through here. it couldn't be there. this is all we have left. this is the northern corridor here and one to the south. at 8:11 am. i'm assuming that this thing pinged for one hour at every hour. and if they now where those are and they now how they moved they can draw conclusions from that.
1:04 pm
>> my gosh. it is an incredible search here. the kind of technology that is at the fingertips at the investigators is going to be paramount here. just as the availability of that technology is important we are finding that perhaps there is a lack of resources that could hamper this investigation. you have sovereign countries here that don't want you flying over and looking at things. i found it interesting today that the malasian government asked for help from these countries up here. yesterday they didn't have help. but now they believe that this northern arc isn't far fetched we'll have to say >> thank you. >> let's look at the developments from today. we begin our live coverage with
1:05 pm
evan perez. >> evan perez there has been a lot of criticism that they haven't handled this properly. we are in day ten now there seems to be a lot of frustration. how about in washington? has there been a lot of frustration in the way in which this is moving? there are a couple of thing that is people have to recognize. the chinese probably have more of an interest than the u.s.
1:06 pm
does. there is somebody from the embassy who is there. there is a limit to how much the malaysians have shared initially. i'm told that has improved. but right now there is no plane to look at. the fbi is sort of limited anyway in what they would be doing on the ground. there is recognition of you no as chad described. there is a lot of facts that aren't known yet. so when we have that perhaps you will see involvement. let's talk more about some of the things that we do know if we can. because we can go in all kinds
1:07 pm
of directions. we know that the transponder was turned off and we know that was deliberate. and we know about this last comment, good night. is there anything else that we do know? >> we know that the system, the communication recording system off the aircraft was turned off prior to the transponder approximately 14 minutes. 14 minutes before, so there was to me intelligence intent purpose as to why and what order the things were turned off. the pinging is something that was mentioned before.
1:08 pm
it would be satellites that are saving those signals around the world. it is going to be very helpful information. vesters willing to say in which direction they are going? it is over one of the emptiest parts of the ocean in the world. so, we are looking at if that arc is indeed correct we are looking at places like western china and they are going up there into ecentral asia.
1:09 pm
it is asking countries for radar and satellite information. so, that is the delicate diplomatic maneuvers they had to undergo. how concerned are you that there is a need of cooperation in an area that is sensitive in in order to conduct this land search? >> i think they are going to get it. there are so many countries interested and people are trying. especially if you have to get cooperation, you will get it. i have traveled in parts of china and there is still a
