hello i'm randy k in today for fredericka whitfield. authorities say france gave them a third satellite image today. chinese and australian satellite objects were spotted. crews did find something yesterday though a wooden p palette with strapping belts. it is not clear where that is from. today malaysian authorities clarified where that came from. officials say the plane was still heading for beijing. that debunks the idea that the computer was reprogrammed to take a difference route. i want to go to evan perez. you have covered this angle from

battery life in the pinger are s. what happens at the end of those two weeks? >> that is a big concern. you want to find the field of debris if that is what happened to the plane. so that you can in case the batteries run are out on these pingers as they are called. it works like any battery operated device. it gets weaker and weaker. right now there is a two nautical mile seeker. and that gets less and less. they aare trying to figure out where. but they want to find where a general area that they can search so they can recover this andy. >> thank you so much. i want to chat much more about this. miles so nice to see you.

of justly first your reaction to this new information coming out that maybe it wasn't reprogrammed and to make that turn to the west before that last communication. >> it is a game changer to see the least. right now we have no evidence that the crew did anything wrong and now we should be operating with the primary assumption that something bad happened to that plane shortly after they said good night. was it a bomb that caused rapid decompression event in the cockpit. which caused power failures and communication failures. the right thing to do would have been to lower your altitude quickly. we know they mate a turn but we aren't sure of the scent.
1:05 pm
i think when we start talking about this event we have to talk about some sort of pampering or bomb on the plane. or some sort of mechanical failure. i guess a lot of people wonder if there was a problem why wasn't there communication back to the ground telling them you need help. >> you are at 3500 feet and a bomb goes off and chaosen sues. you have this expression in flying you aviate, navigate and communication. they have 60 seconds before they get their oxygen masks on.

what happens if that same problem destroyed the system some way. they have 60 seconds to begin that descent. but maybe they don't have the capability of issuing a radio call or maybe they switched the audio panel. it is complicated. one of the things you do is you ensure that the thought they were transiting a call on may day. it is easy to second guess what may have happened. there is a scenario that you could build. if you had a perfectly placed

on. all of these things have to happen in rapid sequence. the two things that he should be doing is trying to get a may day call. he has this 16 button panel. and he may or may not have been able to communicate to the air traffic controller. the other thing he should do is go to the transponder and there is a scenario where he could have turned the darn thing off.

all i can say, you can imagine, whether it is a small bomb or a window just broke. limited useful consciousness at 35,000 feet. the need to get down quickly. he may or may not have that muscle memory audio control panel. or the operation of the trance ponder. and that would have fallen to him. that is just a scenario that is worth thinking about.
