welcome back, everyone. you heard the ceo of geo residence just a few minutes ago. he thinks searches should take a look in the bay of bengal. i want to bring in jeff wise, the author of "extreme fear", the former department general and she's now an aviation attorney. les and jeffrey. i haven't said all of your names in so long all together, i was beginning to have withdrawal. so, jeffrey, you know you just heard david pope from geo residence, they claim to have what appears to be a wreckage of a plane. how are the searchers in perth reacting to this information?
10:51 pm
>> look, off the record, the assessment is it's technology. however, my understanding is that the wreckage is about 700 miles -- >> we' peer to be having trouble obviously with -- he he's in perth, australia and those things happen. do you think the searchers are taking this seriously, at least the australians? >> i think they do. they're releasing they data and their calculations. like you remember in school, they said, show you work. they've shown everyone what they did and why they think this is so and it sounds reasonable. we haven't gotten what we were looking for with the other data. so i think given what they've put forth and what they've explained, i think they have to go talk a look. >> have to take a look, you think, jeffrey? >> i do.
10:52 pm
>> look. certainly have a look. but the problem is -- i know you lost me a little bit there. but the particular location is about 5, 600 miles to the west of the northern arc. this area of the bay of bengal is where they break a lot of ships up. it's a center for breaking up ships of all sorts -- there's all sorts of wreck out there and it may be that they simply detected some of that. >> the type of, you know, equipment that they're talking about, resin and all of that, it could be from a ship. and that's a very good point. jeff wise, for some time you've been insisting that the australians are not search in the right area. are you more comfort right now that the plane isn't where they think it might be? >> well i mean what i've been trying to say is there's a low probability that where they're looking is right. and i think they've been overconfident.
10:53 pm
there's been all of this talk this thing is in the north, you should be happy about it. and actually what i think your guest said was absolutely inaccurate. this is not on the northern arc. it's on the path to the arc. but if you believe the data, which i do, then it shouldn't have crashed en route. it actually had to get to the northern arc. >> i thought he said it wasn't near the northern arc. >> he said it was in accord with the data because it was on the route to the northern arc. which is true, it was very near -- it is near the out to the northern arc but you have to get there the in order to conform with the data. >> we've got this tweet and it says what is the likelihood that the plane would be intact as a geo residence image indicated if it crashed. it seems to be in perfect formation there, right? >> yeah. i mean my guess is just what i know about the 777 and what might have happened with the
10:54 pm
scenario we've been talking about. not very likely. no disrespect to mr. pope's technology, i'm not familiar with it, but i'm looking at it from the stand point 0 why this was presented, why it wasn't acknowledged. you've got a team of experts from boeing, from the ntsb, from the other accident investigation teams, from royals royce and he mistakenly said rolls royce pings. he really meant to say handshakes from the satellite. there's discrepancies with some things. what jeff thomas said, i very much appreciate the fact that could be a ship. and why wasn't this information looked at then? i think that investigative team with those experts minds would have said not so much. >> jeffrey thomas, susan meyer asks, why not explore this new development? it's no more farfetched than other search hypothesis in the past 45 days.
10:55 pm
>> well, look, absolutely if someone wants to go have a look. we keep getting back to the fact that this team of experts, we're talking about not just malaysians, united states, australia, china, some of the best minds in the world working at light and technology folks as well who are absolutely convinced that the southern arc is the area. certainly go and have a look if they like. but they say no. they say it's not there. >> this audio which was finally release bid the malaysians, in any way does it change the investigation or give us any hint as to what might have happened? >> well, actually it does because it is so normal. in that very last line that he said, it wu just as normal sounding. so whatever happened, happened after that. it must have hapned very quickly. but i thought he sounded impatient but he had asked twice
