thanks for joining us everyone. and for the people of france it is a time of healing, and a time of caution, and vigilance six days after the massacre at charlie hebdo magazine. right now, 18,000 soldiers and police are on patrol. al qaeda's north african branch has issued a statement promising more attacks. all four victims of friday's grocery attack will be laid to rest in israel in just a few hours from now. their bodies were flown in from france a short time ago. and the editors of charlie hebdo have unveiled the next issue's cover art. it features a cartoon of mohammed holding up a sign that reads -- let's go now to senior international correspondent jim beteman who joins us live. jim, what are the new details we're learning the connections to the terror groups?

>> a lot of moving parts here this morning, one of the details -- we learned about the suspects the girlfriend of bali was shown in a still photo going through immigration control in turkey on her way to syria. she went to syria one day after the attacks. on the other hand there's other kinds of things out there this morning, rosemary for example this threat you talked about in the headlines, this comes from al qaeda's northern branch something called north africa that the french have had on their radar for some time now. they're the ones that have caused all the problems for french troops in mali and central africa, and, in fact they issued this threat on the terrorist websites this morning saying france pays the cost of its violence in muslim countries and the advise lace of their

sanctity. as long as they occupy mali and bombard our people in syria and iraq and the lame media continues to undermine our prophet, mohammed. san francisco will expose themselves to the worst and more we've seen these kind of threats in the past. there's been a dubious connection. the north african al qaeda branch and the yemeni al qaeda branch is where we think the brothers were trained -- by whom they were trained in any case. it's not clear how serious this threat is being taken, but the prime minister told us yesterday that in fact every threat is being taken seriously. the police are on the trail trying to as he put out -- pointed out yesterday, trying to discover all the people who may have been connected with the attacks here the support personnel, the pride of the weapons that provided the money, the apartments and that sort of thing. who was involved and so they're

trying to track down friends and acquaintances, family of the various people that were involved in the terrorist attacks. >> jim, despite the increased threats, the people of france remain strong they remain defy an the. and charlie hebdo cartoonists are not backing down either are they? tell us more about their latest publication. >> they have this remaining cartoonists who were working on charlie hebdo and managed to survive, either weren't there on the days when the shootings took place or have joined forces. have gone together with the number here and from the offices have managed to put together this week's edition of charlie hebdo, which is defiant, picturing mohammed on the cover, and mohammed's wearing a sign that says -- the line over the cartoon says all is forgiven kind of an ironic title.

the magazine intends to print about 3 million copies it was 1 million, now it's up to 3 million. so we understand. which would be 60 times its normal press run. one of the things that's ironic in all of this so much is being made of the magazine and the cartoons in fact, normally only sells about 30,000 copies in france. and so it's only seen by 1/20 of a percent of the french population yet it was -- it had become a cause celeb for muslims because of its daring approach. in any case they're going to continue that daring approach with the publication which will hit the newsstands tomorrow. >> they have not been silenced in the midst of these terror attacks. jim joining us live as he has for many days thank you so much. investigators are learning more about the gunman who murdered

the four men at the kosher market friday in paris, he was born and raised in france became radicalized by islamic clerics and was influenced by a woman who is now wanted by authorities. jake tapper has more. >> cnn has learned new details about the lethal romance of the terrorist couple at the center of the conspiracy. it turns out that he's believed to be on the run in syria, the more radical of the two, according to the attorney for her boyfriend. that man, terrorist bali was a supermarket worker when he was slaughter. >> it's here where bali began his evil rampage. a local rookie policewoman perhaps not coincidentally just around the corner just steps away from a local jewish school. today that school was guarded by armed police more than 18,000

the walls and windows are riddled with bullets, one window completely taken out. a photograph printed for the first time today shows the horror that occurred inside. a mother and her infant daughter hiding for hours from the terrorists inside a freezer. they were worried the child would not survive the hours in this freezer, somehow they managed to communicate that to police who turned off the electrical. possibly in that action saving the baby's life. >> visitors here today prayed and lit candles for the dead. this mother jewish like the four victims here told us that france has changed. >> as a jew in france do you feel -- >> bad. we have children -- we have to put our children in jewish school because of our religion but now we are afraid. >> his former client was raised in a family that was muslim but

past 12 weeks, protesters have rallied against the islamization of germany. they had asked protesters to call off monday night's rally, in just a few hours, chancellor angela merkel along with most of her cabinet are expected to join a muslim rally in berlin calling for religious tolerance. let's turn now to the air asia crash. multiple reports say divers have recovered the cockpit voice reporter of the jet that crashed last monday. it brings investigators another step closer to finding out what exactly happened and why. cnn's david marko joins us from indonesia. we know the data recorder has been retrieved, it will be analyzed. are you able to confirm if the cockpit voice recorder has also been recovered?

>> conditions difficult here in jakarta, it is pouring rain behind me. out in the java sea, things are a little better at least the underwater currents have lightened up enough for divers to get back into the water today. what is difficult, though too, rosemary communication, a couple at the top, search officials we talked to here in jakarta and borneo have said they are hearing reports it may have been pulled out, they are not confirming that at this point. we do know about the second black box is they had a read on it they were 100% sure of where it was, it was just going to be a matter of time before they got it out of the water. rosemary the data on the flight data recorder were told with the ntsc we're told that the download process should have begun earlier this morning. the good news when we spoke to this investigator has to do

with the condition of the black box. here's what he told us. >> the condition is good. it's good. no fire no signature of fire and no cracks. downloading is very fast let's say one hour. and in interpretation takes a longer time. discussion on matters of -- let's say the aircraft and movement it takes maybe months. >> months because rosemary it will take that long and there are sao many different parties involved in this investigation. france of course one of them because of the airbus a-320 manufactured a french aircraft. the other priority beyond the cockpit voice recorder the search that's continuing in the java sea is for the fuselage.

they have found parts of the wings, parts of the engines, the tail section has been pulled up they have not found the main wreckage of the plane at this point. >> that a major concern for the families of course. before you go, i wan want to ask you, one of the indonesian officials was suggesting the plane had exploded before it hit the water. what is being said about that jumping very quickly and before this information has been analyzed? >> rosemary we're hearing a lot of speculation or theorys that have been floating around out there. this is one search operations officer who said based on what i've seen, the plane exploded when it hit the water, he used the word exploded specifically in the translation we went back to him and talked to him about that. what is clear is that the plane broke apart. experts will agree on that the pieces are scattered across the floor of the java sea.

debris picked up miles, dozens of kilometers away. you know but the clear point now investigators want to make including mr. margona who you just heard from it is too early to speculate, whether the plane broke up when it hit the water or broke up somewhere in the air. there's no reason to jump ahead, they have the information, the critical flight data recorders and the answers will be revealed. rosemary? >> exactly right. when they have the two boxes we will know in a matter of days. perhaps weeks, it depends how soon they will release that certainly the answers are there, no reason for anyone to be speculating at this time. david, thank you for joining us from jakarta, indonesia. u.s. central command says no classified information was leaked when isis sympathizers hacked the social media accounts. a series of tweets with apparent warnings from isis began appearing monday afternoon.

massacre in boko haram's history. diana magnate joins us live from johan egs burg frick. what are you learning about the claim that militants were forced back by the army and what does that mean exactly? >> this was at an army gate base which is about 10 kilometers inside -- far away from the cameroon boarder, which is where the majority of the attacks have taken place over the last few years. cameroon says one of its soldiers was killed in these fights and 33 boko haram militants were killed when they tried to storm the base. cameroon launched air strikes against the group in the last month, and it's been really the only effective military force in the region to wage battle and win against boko haram. that is why the head of boko

haram issued a statement warning cameroon and the president that he would unleash the same kind of cycle of violence on cameroon as he has in nigeria, that prompt ed prompted president to call for more international help. i think it's important to look not just at the northeastern of nigeria, also the countries who were there for effective, cameroon they all have thousands of refugees now from northeastern nigeria, who fled the fighting in nigeria, most of the regions which border that are also extremely poor themselves they face a very -- a huge humanitarian crisis and also a security crisis. but it seems to me cameroon who is feeling the brunt of that at the moment.

france. the government announced it's deploying more than 5,000 security personnel at jewish schools around the country. in response to koulibali raiding a supermarket friday. leaving four dead. benjamin netanyahu visited the site of the siege monday. israel will stand by their side. and some say they'd like similar reassurances from their own government. >> the jewish community here in france has been warning for a long time about a rise in anti-semitism. many here say they hope politicians are going to do more not just in the realm of security but also by showing solidarity with france's jews. the new security measures are met with mixed feelings. >> i absolutely think the security is sufficient this man says even before the attacks, we had a decent amount of protection and now the maximum

is being done after this new gray situation. but they've made up their minds, and want to leave france. with so many jews living in israel the security is at a higher level, there are other reasons for leaving as well. it is better to be a jew there than in france. as france grapples with the aftermath of the terror attacks, it seems it will take more than additional security to fully win back the trust of the jewish communities. we have breaking news from indonesia now, we want to go to david there in jakarta, david, some significant breaking news there too? >> reporter: that's right, a couple key pieces of information coming into us from one of the search and rescue officials. the search operations

coordinator, he is in borneo on the other side of the job at a staging area for the search effort. number one, the cockpit voice recorder confirming the cockpit voice recorder has been recovered, it's now on an indonesian navy sit in banda aceh aceh. they have been looking for that since yesterday. they have pinned down the location. the search and rescue officials confirming the cockpit voice recorder is out of the water and on a ship. significantly, as well rosemary he is saying that the fuselage of flight 8501 we pressed him on this he said it's the main body of the aircraft. divers have found it in the location to the northeast of where we found the tail. divers finding the main body of the aircraft according to mr. sipriotti. i haven't received the full report on this. rosemary just a word of caution

here we have been getting all sorts of reports and communication is tough out there, on the job, and this is a senior official though and very explicitly he is saying divers have located the fuselage the main body of flight 8501. >> that is significant if as you say that is confirmed. he is a senior official. so -- at this point we know that 48 bodies have been recovered of the 162 souls that were on that plane. and that's why this is so significant because those loved ones they want the remains of their loved ones brought back from the deep sea. and they -- this is very important, of course too, the voice recorder being recovered because that will answer many of the questions. for the families they have said please -- they've said this to their government please ensure you bring our loved ones home. this should curnow, if this is

confirmed. >> rosemary if it is confirmed they have found the main body of the aircraft as this search and rescue official is saying of course we do not have any information yet, first reports just coming in we do not have any confirmation on the state of that wreckage. whether or not there are bod dwis in that officials have said that in addition to the two black boxes which are out of the water, one here in jakarta and one on the ship, their other great priority was to find the wreckage and the reason as you mentioned, more than 100 families are still waiting for answers. rosemary even the president of indonesia had promised that this search and rescue effort will continue until everybody on board is found and returned to their family. >> let's hope this plays out and it is the case that the fuselage has been found for air asia

flight 8501. david telling us it hasn't been confirmed beyond this senior official that the fuselage has likely been found, that's significant because the remaining bodies of those 162 that were originally on that plane will be brought back to their loved ones. also to the cockpit voice recorder it's been recovered and we know the data recorder has already been sent to the lab for analysis. both black boxes retrieved, it looks like the fuselage has been found. it hasn't been retrieved as yet. but this is progress in itself. many thanks david joining us from jakarta. i want to go back to our other top story now, we've been talking about the attacks in france and we were talking about the jewish community and their reaction to the violence. for more on this we're joined

by gill hoffman in jerusalem, he's the chief political correspondent and analyst for the jerusalem post. thank you so much for talking with us. a somber day for people in israel with the four victims of the kosher store attack and now about to be buried there. talk to us about that the feelings there in israel on this day, as that tragedy played out last week we want to talk about how israelis are feeling, how -- and how french jews are feeling and whether they will be making their way to israel and these large numbers we talk about, up to 10,000. let's start by just looking closely at the day that's going to unfold there in jerusalem. >> well israelis here are uniting in grief with juews around the world and people around the world with the four jews murdered in the supermarket coming to be buried here today, it's symbolic for israelis that they decided to be buried not in

san francisco, but here in israel and it's the ethos of zionism, jews want to come here from all over the world. those four are coming here to be buried. >> let's talk too about this move a lot of french jews for a while have been making their way because they fear for their safety in paris and other parts of france. and they have been moving to israel and now, of course prime minister benjamin netanyahu has invited those who feel they would be better and safer, in israel he's invited them to move to israel some people are suggesting those numbers could be as high as 10,000 this year. what's the sense there in israel on that. >> there are 7,000 french jews who moved to israel in 2014 more than any time in the world. i think it's fascinating that many came we had a war this

summer in which israel was attacked and there were rockets that were fired all over the country. and yet they feel safer in israel surrounded by enemies than they do in france. and the reason why they do is because israel does what it can to protect its people. and make them feel safe. and i wish the french jews in france could feel as comfortable in paris as they do over here. >> there has been some criticism hasn't there for those french jews who have moved from france to israel the process of citizenship, if you can walk us through that and how some people are responding to that in israel. >> jews from around the world will always be welcome here it's a haven for the jewish people that's why the state of israel exists unfortunately, there has to be a state of israel when jews are beak threatened in europe just like they were threatened in europe seven decades ago. other people move here as well
