and the pulling out the stops here, and the intelligence and the lead with security, wolf, the sense of anticipation here with the group greegt him here and the president and the family will get a special private meeting with the pope when he arrives at the terminal here, and they will get to meet with him by themselves and the president's children, and the first lady and a whole host of o others to greet him, the governor of virginia and the mayor of washington and the archbishop of washington, d.c.
10:03 am
as well, and the sense of the warm welcome and the warm embrace that the capital city certainly but the country will give the pope as he visits the u.s. for the first time. >> it is extraordinary for the president and the vice president and for the first lady dr. jill biden all of them to go to joint base andrews to receive the international leader like the pope. it does not happen all of the time, does it? >> no, it does not, and you mentioned the vice president as well. and this is a true red carpet welcome. and think of this, and you know, the u.s. is the world's fourth largest catholic community here, and also a catholic community that is in something of a crisis, and you have many people leaving the church a and this pope seen not just as a religious leader, but world leader to inspire others to come back and not just catholics, but non-catholics as well to look at the church differently, and he has a message of openness to people of all kinds, and so folks are going to be listening
10:04 am
to him in a way that they have not listened to past popes coming to the u.s. he has a enormous bully pulpit as you say to speak as he comes here to joint sessions is of congress, and also to the general assembly to not just address leaders here, but around the world, and it begins in three hour, and it is going to be a great welcome and historic, as well, wolf. >> and thank you, jim. standby, aband i want jim fay rick to come in, and tell us more about the security, but listen to what the mayor of new york bill de blasio said about the security. >> we work very closely with the fbi and the secret service, and so we will have extensive and careful security, but we have to recognize that if his holiness wants to stop to greet people,
10:05 am
it is our job to protect him no matter what he wants the do, and so it is a balance that we are striking. >> and so it is amazing what is happening in new york city, and they are also gearing up for the world leaders at the united nations general assembly, and including president obama, and give us a sense of what is going on. >> yes, it sis incredible, and the united states general assembly is going to be hosting 170 other presidents and dignitaries and the pope is going to be addressing them friday morning, and the day that the pope leaves you will have a huge concert in the park with beyonce and cold play and pearl jam, and the pope is only in manhattan for 40-hour period. but everything is carefully choreographed from the moment he lands at jfk and arrives at st. patrick's cathedral to the residence and then to other locations as well sh, and you h got the united states secret service that is really handling his security along with the pope's personal detail. they are the ones who are going
10:06 am
to be in charge of getting from point a to point b, and then you have nypd and 35,000 police officers, and they are going to be around the perimeter on the outside of the perimeter, because, you think about the pope, and then there are, there are basically circles of security around him sh, and juso make sure that not only he is safe, but also those at the events are safe, and those outside of the events are safe. and there are going to be fences going up to protect those who have actually gone through the screening process from those who haven't, and nobody wants anybody who has not been screened to throw anything over a fence or hand a bag or a gun or anything like that, and so it is just everything that you can think of, and possibly going wrong, and it is something that, something that the secret service has addressed what happens if he is in the elevator and the power goes down, and all of it. and plus, the traffic e flow, and don't forget, should there be and attack, there is also a evacuation plan in place, and that is why when we talk about the gridlock, there is a reason, because they want to make sure
10:07 am
that the pope can get in and out quickly, and if there is a crisis, to make sure that he is brought to safety. so much thinking, and this has been going on for nine months this planning, and they are looking at everything, who is up in the windows, who is up in the balconies how the doors open, and windows open, and who is in the bushes. it is extensive. >> similar here in washington, d.c. as well. thank you, deb. dave wilkerson is a former fbi secret agent, and compare this level of security to one of previous visits? >> well, this is off of the charts, and as you said in the intro, this is a collaborate effort with the secret service with the lead, but the key to this is making sure that they have a contingency for every conceivable emergency while at the same time minimizing the disruption to the community. and that is a huge undertaking. they have spent the last ten months or so turning over every stone, working out every detail
10:08 am
they can thinking about every scenario, and from a terrorist attack to a lone gunman to a chem attack and bio attack, and demonstration attack, and it is gameday for the secret service. >> and some of the concern has been generated as a result of the isis threats on the internet, and social media, and directly aimed at christians, and especially the pope, right? >> well, i'd say that is absolutely true, wolf. i would say that communications is a key ingredient to the success of the security plan for the vent, and not only the communications between all of the federal and the state and the local law enforcement agencies as to the intelligence gathers, but also the gathering of resources to make sure they are at the right place at the right time, and traffic is shutdown at the right place and the right time, and the communication gathering not just for the intelligence reason, but for the entire visit, it is crucial.
10:09 am
they have been planning, that and doing the tabletop exercises, and looking at every possible scenario, and communicating it on the realtime basis to make sure it goes off without a hitch. >> and the pope, as you know, he likes to interact with the public out there, and real people, and how do you protect him when he goes into the crowd, jim? >> well, more made out of that than should be, because the secret service is ready for, that and ready for any visit of any protectee they have. and with the pope, this is significant with his visit to the united states. and they plan for, that and they are prepared for, that and they will have the buffer zones in certain areas to have civilians and guests there that the pope can reach out to touch, and that sort of thing, and they will be prepared for him to do that and what is more significant if he were to go outside of that general, you know, forecasted area that he might want to shake hands with and go outside of that, and that is when the head of the secret service detail leader, if you will, and the swiss guard leader will need to
10:10 am
go to him basically, and i rein him back in if it can be done, but they are, i can summarize, they are prepared for that, and ready for that, and he will be fine. >> and now, thank you, deborah feyerick as well, for that information. as part of the visit the pope will visit the catholic charities, and the head of that organization is going to be standing by to tell us about the pope's visit. and then we will talk to politics, and scott walker is out of of the race for the white house, and he is asking other gop candidates to follow his lead. will anybody listen? we will discuss. awe believe active management can protect capital long term. active management can tap global insights. active management can take calculated risks. active management can seek to outperform.

the people's pope, and much of the e focus has been on people in need. and i am joined by the chancellor of catholic charities which is one of the places that the pope will visit, and give us a sense of what you hope the to achieve when the pontiff comes to visit catholic charities? >> well, when he speaks to the congre congress, he will come to our place in washington where we serve a meal wednesday night to 350 men and women, and he is go ing to be coming to share that experience and different because we will have tables in the street, and tablecloths on the tables, and he will bless the food, and greet the people and eat with them. >> it is going to be a lovely lunch, and i know that there are so many homeless here in the district of ocolumbia and you help them a lot, and the pope will meet with some of them? >> yes, and he is going to be walking in the church with 250 of our clients there, and we
10:16 am
serve 120,000 people a year, and some of them will be there to meet him and greet him, and some conversation, but he will be walking around to greet the people, and shake some hands, and hopefully to tell them that he cares about them and there to support them. >> and when he reaches tout the homeless in the nation's capital, you never ask them their religion. >> right, we don't do it because they are catholic, but we are catholic. and we do as catholics, and our question is how can we help you? >> and this pope is a role model for you? >> well, first of all the love of the poor, and he said i want a church that is poor for the poor. and he said, get out there like sheep, and get in there and he said to go with the periphery, and he is speaking of what we do everyday as catholic charities and many nonprofits and get out there among those in need. and so he is a role model of how we are called to live our catholic faith. >> and how did he come after the
10:17 am
address to the joint session of congress to come to meet with you? >> well, cardinal wuerl, our archbishop, and we have a weekly meal, and the cardinal has come there to eat with us, and get a chance to meet with the people, and he said, who is the best charity and we are the most comprehensive and the biggest with 65 different programs, and he said that is a good sign and symbol of what we do, and we do it every week, and we will do it with the pope as well. >> monsignor, have you met with the pope? >> i met pope john paul years ago with my mom, but this is the only time i will meet with a pope for any extended time. >> and give us a sense of the excitement. >> well, he is a hero, and he lives the gospel the way i want to live myselfb and he tries to say yes to people who need support and make people feel included, and that is my priesthood, too, and so when i have a chance to meet with him and frankly to be with him, i

10:24 am
car sson? >> well, it will continue to follow him, and people who are dr. carson supporters agree with his argument that what he was saying is that he would not support a theocracy under any circumstance, but the people who support carson are not going to be leaving him, because of what others find offensive. >> and do you agree, amanda? >> well, he has a habit of saying thing, and walking back, and he is not up to speed on the issues aside from the comment. and this is brought to him himself, and donald trump. and the birther issue with donald trump, and scott walker's resignation is a rejection on where the party is going on the issue, and the way he is trying to unify the anti-trump vote, and trying to see people put an end to it, and stop it, and that is positive. >> and donna, you are a democrat, and how does this play down the road from the
10:25 am
democratic road? >> well, people are just appalled of the conversations that we are hearing from the republican side, and one week it is anchor babies and now there is a religion test, and it is bad for republican party and bad for america, and this level of incivility has no place in the process for the highest office of the land, and i remember that i was so proud to have joe lieberman on the ticket to have a jewish-american on the ticket. and so the notion that we can't put anybody on the ticket is absu absurd. >> and the fact that -- >> well, i thought that amanda did a good job so i took the next road. >> and it is not possible for him to answer the question to say, look, i'm a christian, and people go the iowa all of the time to convince them that they
10:26 am
are a christian, and reflect the same values and religion they have, and that is the way to steer the conversation, no muslims apply here. >> and now, donna, for all of the sudden to support evaporate, and in a way, in scott walker resigning from the race, he said this. >> i believe i am being called to lead by clearing the field in this race so that a positive conservative message can rise to the top of the field. i encourage other republican presidential candidates to consider doing the same, so that the voters can focus on a limited number of candidates who can offer a positive kon ser conservative alternative to the current frontrunners. >> so are the republican candidates going to follow his advice? >> i believe they will, but this is a deliberate shot across the bow to donald trump, and asterisk, and lindsey graham,
10:27 am
and george pataki, and for example, get out of the way, and let the real fight begin, and in telling donald trump and ben carson, i would argue, these sort of outsider candidates, that you are not leading the r party in the direction that we need to be led to donna's point, and we need to have a serious conversation that we need to have if we want to win this election, because talking about whether you would vote for a muslim for president is or whether carly fiorina is robotic is not the discussion that the republicans want to be having. >> and who do you think is going to be next as far as the dropout is concerned? >> well, if i were scott walker i would have said to bobby jindal and others, you first. and if you want to influence the direction of the party, i would have said is, i am dropping out of the race, and this is who i am behind so that the
10:28 am
republicans could win, and if you want to influence where we are going, be bold, and get out there, and say and have influence in direction of the party. >> he was in danger of being kicked down to the baby table, and rather than sit on the table with bobby jindal, my governor, and george pataki and so this is one of the shortest, and $22 million in 71 days, and he didn't get any lift, and not just donald trump. he did not have a message, and he had a big campaign that weighted him down, and four positions on some of the big issues, and i don't think that scott walker had a message for the american people. >> and he was a bad candidate and untested and he changed his mind on a bunch of things, and he could not say whether barack obama was a christian for example. fighting isis was like fighting labor unions in the state of wisconsin. >> absolutely. >> so he was a candidate who didn't perform well.
10:29 am
and if he had endorsed, what good would that have done anybody who he endorsed, because right now, there is a scramble on for the donors, but they are independent kind of people those donors, and they want to be court courted a little bit. >> yes. >> and i want to make a note on walker dropping out, he was a candidate that showed that he was not able to get up to speed quick enough, but two governors with highly successful state records are first to drop out, and i am stung by that, and stunned that they would be the first to drop out. >> yes. and gloria, you know who is doing well, marco rubio in the new poll, 11%, and what is driving the surge? >> well, first the debate performance, and marco rubio is a first-term senator, and we have had a first-term senator the as president, and a lot of the republicans said that you need a lot more experience than a first-term senator, and what he showed is the mastery of the foreign policy, and by comparison to donald trump for
10:30 am
example or ben carson for example, marco rubio, you know, did very well. and i think that the public took a look at at him at this young senator who is very, very well spoken, and who comes across with great authority, i thought, and started to giving him a second look. >> and the republicans want an alternative in case that ben carson and ted cruz and marco rubio is going to be the second look in the poll that you see. >> and they fear marco rubio, because they believe he can be a very effective candidate. >> and bush fears him. >> they are not playing up the rise in the polls, and they don't want to surge to the frontrunner status. >> and there is going to be a loss of enthusiasm if people don't come out to vote. >> and being the second choice is good sometimes. >> and encourage more debates, and see what happens. and the presidential candidates are becoming a fixture on late

this came through state run media and the guard commander for defense and arrow space announced there would be new missile tests that they are going to conduct. they didn't give a time frame. only they would be conducted soon. also said the tests will be conducted despite the recent nuclear agreement. and even with that nuclear agreement, we know there are still restrictions on iran's ballistic missile programs that could deliver nuclear war heads. so the iranians are saying despite that, there are still going to be that they have the right to do that. it all plays into the big debate that's going on here in iran about whether or not iran should latch on to the nuclear agreement. there are some highly critical in the military as well. we had that debate only a couple days ago when the iaea was able to go to the military site making clear that this was a courtesy visit and there were no
