reports that were recently released with respect to those officers at the scene during that laquan mcdonald shooting, they are dramatically different than what we saw on the videotape. some of those reports talked about laquan moving towards the police officer and making efforts to attack the officer. and we didn't see that in the videotape. so i think something happened, more than just the code of silence. perhaps even fabrication. >> soo is that a felony? obstruction of justice? what is that? >> we're going to see the we're looking at cases across the country where it's not just one rogue cop that's indicted. everyone that's involved in either covering up or fabricating a story. >> one last point here, the mayor said this is a decades old problem.

u.s. officials telling cnn marquez told investigators about a 2012 attack that he and farook hatched but did not carry out. they abandoned the plan, marquez told them, because they got spooked. the fbi had just arrested four people in the area accused of trying to travel abroad to carry out violent jihad. marquez also telling investigators he and farook were both on the path to radicalization in 2011, the same year he bought the first of two rifles for farook. the two men's lives have been connected for years. they were first neighbors. they would grow up to become friends then relatives by marriage. >> did he seem like a relative? >> yeah, i could sense that he was really close with them. brittany the lives two doors down.

dane saw marquez frequently here. members of the mosque tell cnn marquez came here alone, saying he had con forgeted to islam but he only attended a handful of times. his wife is the sister of the woman married to farook's brother. the marriage seemed unusual. he helped him. i didn't really see him give much. he didn't talk much to the sister. marquez tells authorities he didn't know about the massacre and is currently not charged with a crime but his role remains crucial to investigators. >> we're also working very hard to understand whether there was anybody else involved with assisting them, with supporting them, with equipping them. and we're working very, very

you did that before you knew the attackers were muslim? >> when we heard about the attack, many of us are serving these underserved families. we already work in these neighbors. when we heard about the attacks, we wanted to go find ways to support solidarity consistent with our works. we set up this fund. >> when you found out they were radicalized, what happened then? >> there was a greater response to the american muslim community. several callers requested they be increased to make it larger to include all americans.

>> the force is getting closer. on monday, "star wars" will premier here in los angeles. the seventh installment in the franchi franchise opens across the u.s. december 17. fans in hollywood are already lining up for the best tickets. but what would all this hype be without a little controversy. we had to go all the way to china to find it. some say the posters for the movie are, in fact, racist. matt rivers reports from beijing. >> reporter: the new "star wars" film "the force awakens" won't open in chinese movie theatres like this one until january 9, but the movie is already being marketed here in a big way. disney even placed 500 storm trooper figurines on to the great wall of china to promote the movie trailer's premier. but not all the attention has been positive. some star wars fans were quick to point out some differences between the u.s. version and chinese version of the official movie poster.

acting column, kate blanchett is about as close to a lock as you can get. sylvester stallone for "creed." the globes reich to put on a good show. they like to get the right people to show up at their party. the movie is doing well with audiences. he kick started the rocky franchise so i think he's in their sights. >> greatest movie ever, "creed" i tell you. it's funky, it's like the academy awards with fun and booze. >> with an open bar. >> which is always a good thing. but the musical and comedy category, what is weird is that "the martian" the matt damon film ended up in the music musical/comedy. >> musical, you can take it or leave it. although there's a lot of disco in that movie. it's a fairly funny movie. matt damon, these diaries he's keeping to maintain his sanity.

he's very quippy and funny. for a movie that's a science fiction, adventure and rescue story, it has a pretty light tone. there are funny bits back at jet propulsion laboratory. >> it's a bit of a stretch. people will do this thing to up their chances but it's not completely out of the realm. >> a couple of the movies being mentioned. "steve jobs" "bridge of spies" didn't do well on the box office. does that hurt their chances? >> not really. these are people that nominated johnny depp for "the tourist." they love spielberg. i think they're all about him being there. mark rilace has s a runner-up with l.a. film critics, which i'm a member of. i think he's pretty much a lock on nomination. i wouldn't be surprised to see tom hanks in there. >> because he's tom hanks? >> he gets whatever he wants.

he's a nice guy, too. let's go to the television side. netflix is probably going to get some kind of nomination. >> absolutely. i think netflix is coming to the table with a lot of stuff.
