has issues about super delegates, campaign finance and the like. let's look at the tale of the tape in the democratic race so far. she has 1775 pledged delegates, he has 1485. she has 522 super delegates, he has 42. she's won 27 contests, he's won 21. so by lower case "d" democracy she's winning. >> she is winning. important for us to all say that even as we watch emboldenned bernie sanders who is feeling his oats now. our polling in 2008 versus now, more democrats back in 2008 who were supporting hillary clinton said they would not support barack obama in the fall, than today sanders supporters say would not support hillary clinton. these wounds are healable. the difference is that some of the bernie folks i think are much more radicalized than clinton supporters were in '08 and it could be tough. the clinton strategy is not

complicated. it's two words, donald trump. you hold that up and look you don't love hillary, this is a national crisis that we're facing. i think that's going to be what they say. >> if you listen to the full interview with chris cuomo on cnn the other day, good cop/bad cop. she was clear i've been there and understand the emotions of the supporters. i understand it's hard and she said i take senator sanders at his word when he says over my dead body donald trump but she also said something if you're a sanders supporter you're not going to like and that would be this. >> i will be the nominee for my party, chris. that is already done in effect. there is no way that i won't be. >> they don't want to give bernie anything. >> the sense of inevitability, the sense we don't have to let the process play itself out. interesting about 2008 hillary played an active role getting reluctant supporters on board, handing out buttons "hillary sent me" going to obama rallies.
5:33 am
i'm still with her but i'll be on board with him. bernie if he's not going to be the nominee and going to want to stop donald trump he needs to play a role. >> but to understand, if you're senator sanders the last thing you want to say now is that the math is inevitable because if you can't be the noment know and he keeps saying he thinks he has a narrow chance and it's a flight chance but i still have a chance and he does but his other goal is the more delegates he has at the convention the more influence he has at the platform. if you say now it's over, then how do you expect to win new jersey, california? >> they're looking at the platform committee, the credentialing committee, the rules committee, the three big committees and figuring out if they can get their people on there. for democrats the worry is sanders fueling this idea of it isn't if hillary clinton gets the nomination, but is it a legitimate nomination, is it a rigged process and conspiracy

theories n theories not many but a few bernies supporters interest sk in. >> you've been reading my twitter feed. >> yes. >> the past it's interesting a number of members mostly in the united states senate say it's time for bernie to dial it back. they don't say drop out. but they want him to dial back the rhetoric. i want to note for the record the senators also happen to support hillary clinton so forgive me there's a little bit of mixed message here. to those who say that bernie is over the top i remind people we've made a point about 2008. hillary clinton at this exact point in 2008 when it was pretty clear president obama was going to win in the delegate race, super delegates were shifting toward president obama unlike senator sanders at this stage in the race, hillary clinton was still kind of tough. >> this is nowhere near over. none of us is going to have the number of delegates we're going to need to get to the nomination. >> there is that he frantic effort to push her out because she's winning the general

the candidates in the republican primary really went after trump in a focused way. i think one other thing you may see from the clinton campaign is his business record which didn't come under much scrutiny in the republican campaign. marco rubio tried it for a while on the conman argument and that seemed to be successful before he went into his, the size of his hands and things like that. >> this is part of the challenge the clinton folks have, i use the metaphor of leeseal ball in the chocolate factory, they're coming off the conveyor belt so fast. comments about women, minorities, or the business litany or cnn this week had a report of the fact he was hoping for a housing crash. what do you do? what do you target? if you focus on everything you focus on nothing. >> that's part of the challenge. >> you had that from the clinton side. those of you after the show go on youtube and find lucy and
