passion of their voters and to get them to turn out and vote because so much of it right now is about getting people to turn out and vote as opposed to necessarily altering the way in which they're going to vote. they have very different messages. president trump, as we've seen, is really campaigning on a message that's about fear, anti-immigration. interestingly in a context where the economy is very strong, rather than really making that his key message -- even when he talks about the economy, he's drilling down on the fear that there could be set backs if the democrats were to do well in these midterm elections. president obama saying lies and governance are just not american and what what we should be looking for. >> you mention the economy. y but immigration, again mr. trump pushing on that narrative of a caravan of men,

women, children of babies coming to as he put it over run the country. mr. trump seemed to back away from his earlier suggestion that u.s. military should shoot immigrants if they throw rocks. listen on the before and after. we'll talk about it. >> they want to throw rocks at our military, our military fights back. i told them consider it a rifle. when they throw rocks like they did at the mexico military and police, i say consider it a rifle. >> they do that with us, they're go eing to be arrested. there's going to be problems. i didn't say shoot. but they do that with us, they're going to be arrested for a long time. >> technically, lesley, he did not say shoot but is this that dog whistle thing? you say something and slap it down? >> clearly it's designed to

rally the base and one interesting thing is whether he's pushing that immigration message in part because maybe his base hasn't seen the economic gains that america is more generally seeing. but he's clearly facing some constraints from the people around him. deeply controversial, the idea he would send military troops and the idea that they would shoot. but those round him, that caravan is at least a month away. the timing looks deeply political and there are very serious people around him undoubtedly will be trying to walk him back from this strategy. one would hope. but he puts the words outthere, they have an impact. there's a very significant backlash against that from people who think very seriously about the integrity off the u.s.

hardship. so far the iranian government has said they don't want talk with the trump administration at this point in time and one of the things causing so much uncertainty is that people don't know how hard these sanctions are going to hit. they know it's going to be pretty bad. how much oil some othese countries going to be able to import from iran. at this point in time anybody ps guess how hard it is going to be hit. tr the oil and gas sector is such a major part othis can country ps economy and they have been able to expand after the nuclear agreement. looks like a lot of that has gone away. just exactly how mup they don't know. two things stand out. uncertainty and the lack of seeing a way forward as to how iran is going to be able to overcome sanctions and get on

track to make them go away at some point. >> they go in place monday. fred, thank you. ahead let's talk about these powerful storms that ripped through central florida friday. severe damage, power outages. produced tornados near the city of tampa. >> captured the power of the wind gusts. the wind tore off roofs and uprooted trees, filling the streets with debris. >> you know at one point during these tornados that moved through the region, winds were estimated 100 miles per hour. we've got the moment that one of the tornados formed. hopefully we ecan play this video ou so you can see that spinning batch of clouds you see across the roadway just outside of tampa and scary moments for these people. that's a little too close for comfort for me, if you ask me.

it was officially reported an ef 1 tornado. it damaged 17 homes, .7 miles wide. that is a significant tornado, folks. there were six in total that central florida experienced friday evening. 20 reports of wind damage. there was hail report would this line of storms that moved through. this is really just part off a larger storm system that stretches along the entire east coast. new york, boston to philly the way that nation's capitol, it will be extremely wet, that i 95 corridor and americans feeling the brunt of this low pressure system with high wind warngs and advisories from boston to new york. wind gusts could exceed 50 to 60 miles per hour across new

accusations yet on the murder of journalist jamal khashoggi. his former employer this. we know the perm trarts are among the 18 suspects. we know the order came from the highest levels of the saudi government. >> mr. erdogan accuse tod the saudis of stalling. his fiance has also written in the post lumenting the lack of progress. >> reporter: ist's been a month and still one month on no body, no remains, no grave. make thing situation even harder for his loved ones, for his family. a month that has felt like a lifetime according to his fiance

who wrote an piece on the washington post to mark this one month. i met her as she was outside this consulate 24 hours after jamal khashoggi walked in. she was still hoping he was going to walk out of this building and she was blaming herself for the situation. she broke down into tears saying she felt guilty. that the only reason he went in there was to receive a piece of paper that would allow them to get married. and she's still dealing with these emotions. this emotional piece she wrote and at the same time she's continuing to call for accountability, continuing to call for justice, say thing international community must put pressure on saudi arabia to bring those responsible for the killing of jamal khashoggi to justice. they must find out where his body is and the united states bear as responsibility here to lead this effort.

but so far she says it seems that some in washington and this is something we've heard from others here. trrs they feel that some in the trump administration are using a stalling tactic. hoping that the world will forget about this. that the world will mub on without the united states jeopardizing its ties with saudi arabia. she's saying she will not give up. she'll continue calling for justice and this is something we've heard saying they are going to continue with their investigation and they will get to the bottom oof this, they say and the fear here is and i rr heard this from several human rights activists in this region. they say unless the united states and the international community really push for accountability and justice in this case, there will be many other jamal khashoggis. cnn, istanbul.

there are new calls from the u.s. for a ceasefire in yemen. it's created one of the world's worst humanitarian crisis. >> millions are suffering from call ruand starvation. many are children. the new york times published a shocking photo. we want to warn you about it because we're going to show it to you in case you missed it but it's so important to see. >> here's the photo. the 7-year-old girl being treated for severe malnutrition. many readers were struck by her haunting stair. they wanted to know what happened to her. we understand she died just a week after the photo was published. >> tyler hicks described what it was like to meet her and be in yemen at this time.

>> amal was responsive. but very calm. she had such little energy and to me it just didn't seem like she would survive. we heard arwe eleft that she'd been discharged from the hospital. however that was not because she was doing better but because her family didn't have any money to take her to a better clinic and were forced to take her back to her village because new casess were coming in and there's virtually no space for them. when you drive down any street whether it's in a big city or out in the middle of nowhere, you are absolutely -- there are people coming up to the vehicle begging. people are desperate. they're laying in the street and not like a small amount of people. it's everywhere you look.

the entire country is desperate. no jobs, no money and that's leading to mass starvation. >> unicef says some 400,000 children just like amal are suffering severe malnutrition. >> doctors without borders warns it's impossible to have an overall view of malnutrition across the country and we're going to talk with our guest about why that is. the head of mission for doctors without borders in yemen. she joins me over the phone from the capp capitol. why is it that it's so hard in yemen to get a sense of the scope of this disaster as far as starvation, malnutrition of so many people and as we just saw of the very youngest and poorest

children? >> hi, yes. so perhaps we can come back just a second on famine. because i know there's a lot of misleading information. we say widespread and food short nls or complete lack of access to food from the population. not only children but mothers, fathers, everyone. and those people are in extreme coping mechanisms and increasingly vulnerable to other diseases would lead to high mortalities. there's no evidence of this situation at the moment in yemen. it's not something that k we ecan replace in our projects.

something we want to emphasize is it's a very dear situation for the population. in fact we do are very concerned about the nutrition of the population in yemen. we continue to receive every day malnourished children. we receive since january, 3,300 across the country. increased exposurer to food insecurities and this is a result of various factors lead to direct or indirect consequences of the war. there is a detearieration in the situation >> yes, and i want to ask you this is an ongoing war. and economy's in shambles, there

are no jobs, they are truly desperate. what is preventing the situation from improving? what would help your organization work in the country? what would helpia get more access to people across the country? >> i gave various challenges we are facing in the country and access, as you mentioned is one of them. so access leading to insecurity and the war in itself. it's true a lot of population are still living very close to active front lines and that's are they need access to health care and that's where we are. security is one of the reasons. it it's a burden that's heavily impacting the access in the country. so a ulso of course from to the
