>> we all appreciate their time and their opinion. the news continues. i want to hand it over to chris for cuomo primetime. >> thank you, anderson. i am chris cuomo and welcome to "prime time". as the trump folks celebrate not being felons word that 300 plus pages of findings from mueller will soon be released should chill the mood. you don't have to be a criminal to be exposed as having done things that were wrong. and lied about the same. not a felony. will the american people think it's all fine when the full story comes out. a senate judiciary member fighting to take on president trump in 2020. speaking of people that weren't indicted but are not in the clear, jared kushner was called back by senators today. i wonder what they were curious about. our guest says she knows plenty of reasons why. the author of kushner ink is here. she has a new scoop.
10:01 pm
the real crisis at the border. plus, we're going to dispose a deception that should matter every bit as much as anything that mueller was looking into. what do you say? let's get after it. >> president is jubilant tonight, whipping up a crowd of supporters moments ago in michigan. you can imagine what he did right off the top. >> the russia hoax is finally dead. the collusion delusion is over. total exoneration, complete vindication. >> just because it rhymes doesn't make it true. in fact, we know it isn't. he won't be prosecuted for helping the russians. that's it. four pages from his attorney general's summary of a report didn't clear this president or those around him from all wrong doing and material deceptions. that was about criminality. it's not the only standard of behavior.
10:02 pm
the proof is in the profit. we now know he wrote up more than 300 pages of findings. if they're so in the clear, why are they dragging their feet and letting the facts come out? democrats are getting tired of asking that. >> we do not need your interpretation. show us the report and we can draw our own conclusions. we don't need you interpreting for us. it was condescending and it was arrogant and it wasn't the right thing to do. the president says the same. i want it all to come out. leaves it up to the a.g. we'll see what happens. with me now, another prominent democrat, welcome to primetime, senator. amy klobuchar. good luck in the race. i wish it to all of those seeking the nomination and i wish it to you as well. >> thank you. >> let's do a little lawyering
10:03 pm
here. what is wrong with the trump teams and the gop's ma joir sy -- majority feeling. they did the probe. they found no criminality with respect to russian interference and any conspiracy with the president or anyone around him. that's it. none of us will ever vote with you and impeachment is not going to happen. move on. >> my count is that the house of representatives voted this will be public. as we go into the coming years, we want to make sure that our election and democracy are protected. there must be tons of stuff in that report you can tell on the four page letter of what russia did. we had to make decisions about back up paper balloting. audit elections. what kinds of things social media should do in terms of who they are and who is paying for
10:04 pm
them so there's serious security issues but we can do two things at once. when the president right after the attorney general issues a four pages. when the justice department says they'll get r of the affordable care act. people looked up and they said no matter where we are on the mueller investigation the one thing we do know for sure is we don't want anyone to take our health care away and we don't want to be kicked off our insurance. for preexisting condition. we have to do two things at once. safeguard the democracy. read it and figure out what is in it and focus an on optimistic economic agenda for this country. >> you have time. if they go the route of fighting it in court, either it winds up the way it has before. we have two cases. at the supreme court level, you lose. or if it goes the other way, you have time.
10:05 pm
there's a circumstance going on. i hear none of you talking about it. the president talked about it in the rally tonight but he talked about it in my opinion the wrong way. the brown menace is not the problem at the border. it's kids and family units, the people in charge are overwhelm and crying for help. i hear none of you talking about it. am i missing the reality? are you asleep at the switch? >> no, we would love to see comprehensive integration reform doing something so we have security at the border and we also work with countries in central america and change that policy in terms of making sure that those families are safe and health together. i think you have seen a focus on this and our problem is every time we try to move on a sensible policy the president uses it as a wedge. i think about immigration reform as an economic issue. 70 of the fortune 500 companies are headed by immigrants. 25% were born in other countries
10:06 pm
and that bill we passed would have brought it down by $158 billion and would have given a path to citizenship to people. i think you have to see it as a comprehensive plan and that's what the american people wanted years ago and once you have a president in place that talks about it in terms of not just the border but economics, we're going to have the people with us. >> here's the problem. i hear you and we'll argue that insure infrastructure plan. but you have an emergency right now and as somebody that wants to be the leader of this country, they need help now. they literally, metaphorically have their back against a wall. they don't have the resources. they're doing case and release like they have never done it before. the stories i'm hearing we can't even believe them. we sent a reporter down there because i can't believe it. i was just there a few weeks ago.
10:07 pm
isn't there something that can be done now to give the men and women keeping us safe, more? >> well, of course we just put aside over a billion dollars for security at the border but the problem is the president doesn't want to work with us on some sensible ideas. instead he wants to put it in the wall and instead of using it for projects and military projects and helping the personnel he just wants to b the wall and keep using it as a rally at his campaign rallies as a chant back and forth with supporters and i don't think it's a way to govern. i'm not surprised. i think it's horrible that not just the workers but the families involved in this have to have it on their backs. the way you solve it is putting someone -- i have a law enforcement background and i understand the challenges they face that's what they have been doing.
10:08 pm
when you have needs of people and workers at the border. you meet those needs. you don't immediate them by building spending $8 approximately on a wall. >> i see opportunity for leadership. not because you're responsible for it obviously although you have a very interesting and diverse issue of your own you're trying to distinguish yourself from the field as you should and you put out a comprehensive infrastructure plan and you also go into how you think you can get it done. here's any question to you. nobody wins because they're for intrastructure i have lived through generations of cuomos fighting for infrastructure and never being rewarded for it. but here's the thing, senator, why do you lead with that and how do you get it done when you're facing a culture of
10:09 pm
opposition day one if you get in? >> i lead with this because it's a bread and butter issue. it means jobs and getting ourselves out of traffic jams and getting our goods to market. of course as you know at my snow globe announcement i talked about health care and work force training and immigration reform and so many of the challenges. our place in the world that we face right now but i chose to announce my candidacy in front of the mississippi river, in the middle of the river on a beautiful summer day a mile from my house. 13 people died and the world was focused on our state that day. what did we do? i got the money to build that bridge in a little over a year but there's more bridges like that. there's subway systems and rural roads. ize -- iceland is completely outfitted.
10:10 pm
it's not an old fashion plan. it's a way to move our country forward to export our goods and the schools in baltimore this past winter some of them didn't even have heat. so if you ask did people vote on it, they vote on the economy, they vote for the future of our families. they vote when they want to have a country they're proud of. this president has been promising infrastructure from the day he started running to the day he got elected to now. and hasn't delivered. >> a little bit of a nod to easy to say hard to do but it's a proper ambition. quick thing. very early. in the polling right now your relative position is not great. people are deciding who to back. what do you say to them about why to give kolbuchar a nod?
10:11 pm
even though she's in the low single digits? >> there was a poll in iowa where i was in the top five, six, seven. there is a group of us that are in the same range and clearly registered with voters but it is early. let me give you why i want to be president. as i have said, i am tired of governing from chaos. i want to govern from opportunity. i'm from the heart land and i like to get things done. i have a very strong record in the united states senate for passing bills and working across the aisle and some people may think that's out of vogue to actually get things done for this country, i don't. and i'm also able to win in hard areas where maybe it's not comfortable to go and it can be uncomfortable but i have three times now won every congressional district in my state including the one formerly held by michelle bauchmann. we need someone that can bring people together, find common ground and get things done and go to a higher plane in our politics.
10:12 pm
>> i did get to see myself grow old in 20 minutes. as the snow mounted. >> just wait until the end of this campaign and let's see how you feel about yourself then. as i offer all the candidates. >> thank you for that good advice. >> as i offer all the candidates, we'll chase you as appropriate but see this show as a forum when you can come on and be tested about what happens to the people as the campaign goes on. we make that offer to all of you and certainly you. senator klobuchar. >> thank you. >> be well. >> you saw the chairman of the senate intelligence committee right here on this program last night firing back at the republicans. adam schiff. since then he got this infusion of emotion and opportunity. he was face to face with his critics today and he looked them in the eye, many of them didn't look back and he left them have it. wait until you see this. and i'm telling you it's the most important story that no one is talking about. at least not enough.
