attacked o'rourke. they're not buddies. and we know in order for him to succeed, o'rourke has to go down. i understand that. a lot of times in the debate when you do that, your on the attack. sometimes you get hurt by it. the person you attack may get hurt. and the front runner may benefit. we saw it happen with christy. rubio and trump benefitted. in this case actually he was so adept about it, he really benefitted from the attack. and o'rourke did not. >> it's devastating when you see them confronting o'rourke with actual subsections of the law. >> you're a practitioner. you can appreciate this. that was -- he came with plan. the plan was not just the initial hit. what the response was likely to be. and his response to the

response. it was very well done. >> these debates are about moments. can you create the moment. every candidate wants to create a moment. it's hard to do. he did it. >> the repeated phrase you didn't do your home work. >> on the stage. >> that's been the wrap on beto o'rourke. he wasn't ready for prime time. he centered his candidacy on immigration. on being from el paso. obviously speaking spanish. it was devastating for o'rourke. does beto o'rourke move on this issue. >> i don't think that's the biggest problem he has. >> unfortunately. i think that may have been his last hoo ra. >> he's done? >> he's done. he's done. because there was such hope and expectation about it.

night one of the debate one of campaign 2020 in the books. night two later today. sanders and biden will be the top liners. tonight it was massachusetts senator warren. she joins us now. thank you for being with us. you had the most buzz going into tonight. are you happy, satisfied with how it went? >> oh, look. it was wonderful to have a chance to be out there and talk about how it is that we can actually make this country work come 2020. i loved it. this is has been my life's work. to talk about what's happening to working families. how it is that america works for a thinner and thinner slice at the top. and how we turn that around. so, i loved it had. >> you're obviously strong on policy specifics. one needs to draw contrast with

means that everybody we energize in 2020 stays on the front lines come january 2021. we have to push from the outside, have leadership from the inside. and make this congress reflect the will of the people. >> essentially you're saying there needs to be the people who come out for a 2020 election. that needs to be sustained. that is not something we have seen happen in recent history. certainly. is that realistic? >> you know, anderson, that i'm running a campaign that's different from most of the democrats in this primary. i have done more than 100 town halls. i have taken more than 2,000 questions. i have been to 21 states and puerto rico. and the reason i have done that is because i believe that's how we build a grass roots movement.
