"newsroom" starts right now. we begin, as we've seen, for many other days for the past few weeks. protesters marching in the streets of hong kong, ignoring an order to stay put in one location. this is the eighth-straight weekend of pro-democracy demonstrations. they're demanding justice for the police violence, during earlier protests, among other issues. >> all of this happening after violent clashes that took place during an illegal rally on saturday. police say they fired bullets and teargas into the crowds. protesters threw bricks and bottles at them. chris christie is there. what is evolving on the streets

today? >> it's incredible. as a lawful of police, tacktieses and a place has fanned out across the city of hong kong. i'm in causeway bay. this is one of the most famous shopping directions in hong kong. this intersection that i'm standing with, is usually one of the biggest of all-song. i talked to a protest leader. i said, when the march starts, where are they going? she had no idea. this is the idea of the leader less movement in hong kong. it's become spontaneous. and some protesters are fanning out to a direction where the chinese labor office is.

we're keeping tabs on that issue here. what we do see is a number of protesters dressed in black. some are wearing hard hats. many are wearing masks. we've seen them erect barricades. they're looking for cryptic messages. what's galvanized is the latest in the response. cnn was in the far north of the city. aun unlawful march. and the police, in a very forceful clearance operation. using pepper spray and teargas. many were able to see glad on the high schoolle floor. 20 people were hospitalized. four of the police officers were

the case? >> the italian papers have shown this shot of one of the men blindfolded in police custody. they have launched their own internal investigation as to why this suspect was blindfolded and to who leaked the photo. that changes the dynamic. the boys confessed to finding the bloody weapon and clothing. now, the narrative is changing, as we're seeing more of. background detail. and i suspect that once the boys, the young men have lawyers in place, that are willing to speak to the press, we'll get a little of an idea of what really happened. in this terrible altercation that ledged at the happened of the americans.

rescue workers have evacuated 900 people from a train stranded in monsoon floodwaters near mumbai, india. >> flooding partially sup americaed the train and covered the tracks. we were able to get everyone out on those inflatable rescue boats. some of the most beautiful beaches in the western hemisphere face an ugly and smelly effect, due in part to warming oceans. huge areas of seaweed are plan getting the beach.
