message and he's not alone among conservatives. "trump is giving up." quoting now, "push more relief money into the economy and try to take the pandemic seriously and promise the country that mask-wearing and relief dollars are a bridge to a vaccine and normalcy in 2021." the first lady pulls out the first appearance tonight because she's still sick. nothing is deterring him from holding another super spreader event. none of it is stopping him from saying what he loves to say about the pandemic even new polling shows he's not trusted on the subject. >> the recent poll just came
5:02 pm
out, 56% of the people wanted to be here. we are rounding the turn on the pandemic. 56% and it is a record. every job growth and vaccines and quickly ending the pandemic. normal life. that's all we want. you know what we want? normal life. normal life will finally resume. next year we'll be the greatest economic year in the history of our country. >> this is pennsylvania's straight day in more than a thousand new cases. hospitalizations hitting the highest rate since the pandemic began.
5:03 pm
4600 cases. tec 70% of americans have little to no trust that he'll provide them accurate information on the subject. they're right. he just keeps talking about it though and he keeps bad mouthing the country's most trusted expert, dr. fauci. >> he's a democrat and he's a good friend of the cuomo family. he's been there for a long time and he's a nice guy. reporters like him because they think he's against me. he's not really against me. >> it is true. he's not against the president. dr. fauci gone out of his way to not be partisan and not to attack the president. he's been doing the same job for 36 years in both parties. so winning trust on the central issues is what the president wants to do. attacking scientists does not seem to be the way to go. yet he keeps on doing it and says the same thing.
5:04 pm
people can see we are not rounding the turn as the president likes to say. the country is climbing towards a third peak. as we mention dr. gadli predicts all the estimations show more people will die. there is no backstop. in the face of that the president keeps on saying things that are not true. >> we save millions of lives by the decisions i have made. we closed up our country in the midst of the greatest economic boom in history and saved millions of lives. we are doing the right thing and we are doing much better than europe and our recovery is the strongest in the world. >> everything you heard flies in the face that you can see it yourself which can't help

undermines the president's ability. he keeps hammering away joe biden's son, calling him attorney general. just like he asked ukraine president to go after him. >> we got to get the attorney general to act. they got to act. they got to act fast. he got to appoint somebody. this is major corruption. this has to be known about before the election. this has to be done early. so the attorney general has to act. >> getting back to -- he says quote, hunter biden does not help put food on the table, hunter biden does not provide healthcare and solve covid. donald trump is focusing on that, nobody cares. now, he's attacking moderators of the next debate and today roughly after ending a 60-minute
5:06 pm
interview, he's going after lesley stall. >> let's go to cnn's kaitlan collins. >> reporter: you heard the president talking about coronavirus, telling their governor to open up the state because they want the get back to normal life. his policy is bringing that about and he repeated that claim that he mentioned so many times that we are rounding the corner. dr. fauci disputed. of course, the president disputed his own medical expert and he continues to repeat that and he's talking about that 60-minute interview he did. when you speak to the president's political adviser that's not disclosing message

years now and in the white house there is an attitude of mixed of resignation and frustration. the knives are out for each other among staffs. look, the president is very angry. i don't think it is a surprise. if you look at his twitter feed, you can see how angry he is. he's calling on the attorney general to take on criminal action against his political opponent ahead of election day. look, the race is not over, people should not call the race, this is no t the same as 2016. we didn't have level of early voting. a quarter of 2016 votes have
5:10 pm

5:11 pm
we don't know if it will get to that. he want to announce an investigation into joe biden because he feels that's the last hour of hope almost. if you go back to 2016 when he won, hef was talking to america voters about their grievances. he was talking about you feel left behind and you feel the democratic party come to an elite and they negotiated trade deals and they left too many illegal immigrants and should not have done that. now he's talking to voters about his own grievances and not theirs, his grievances against democrats and joe biden who tried to impeach him and who did impeach him. he's talking to them about a rigged election. he's talking to them about the way he has personally been treated by the media and

scientists and by tony fauci. the question is where are the issues that voters care about and about healthcare. that seems to be missing because it is all about him. >> peter hotez says we are likely to see thousands of cases the next two weeks and americans should take mental step to protect their health and mental health. a period of rapid acceleration. the estimate shows as many as 400,000 dead by february 1st. we are not rounding a turn. >> no, when you hear this sort of we are rounding the turn, that's the expectation and at
5:13 pm
the same time you see the numbers going up. that's part of the number distress. be clear on the expectation part of helping some of those anxieties that come with this. i look at those rallies and i think 14 days away, this is one incubation period away from a diagnosis. people are at those rallies now, they'll be diagnosed after the election. that's the real of this and as far as the acceleration goes with dr. gadli, it is interesting because we can show the kwieunited states compares united union. if you go back to april time frame, we look at that graph, italy, you can tell there the green is about a week ahead. >> green is the european union and orange is the united states.
5:14 pm
>> that's right. and so remember we are watching italy and seeing that number go up. and the european union was able to bring the number down. look to the far right to the graph now. the european union jumped over in terms of case numbers, the united states and they're about a week or two ahead. so that's why scott gadli is saying that, we are tracking the european union and there is significant acceleration of growth. everyone says the number of cases, but is that translating to hospitalization and it is. we are seeing many hospital systems around country that are full and they typically are and we are about to go into flu season. we are about to have worse covid disease.
5:15 pm
that's the concern going through the next several months. >> what scenario do you see the president accepting -- if the president does not win the election, or you know through electoral college, do you see the president accepting the election? there has boneen so much talk about that. >> i personally, not much of a presidential language that this is a job he wants to do for four more years. he seems fairly tired. i think it would depend on the condition and how much he lost by and part of the reason republicans were trying to say that if he loses, they hope it would not be a close election, they hope it would be a big margin for joe biden because it makes it easier for the republican party to step away
5:16 pm
from the president, from their party leader. i think it is a hypothetical, it is hard for me to answer. i think there is irresponsib irresponsibility when he says he won't accept the election results. >> if he remains president and the death toll, 200,000 more people die by february 1st, you reported that the president's friends tried to use his illness to his benefit. >> yes, when he was ill in the hospital, he was called by a friend and i was told by a source familiar with the conversations that one of them said to the president at least one of them said to the president, look, we want you to get well and now you can come at this and you can tell the american public that yes, you
