cdc adviser recommends the u.s. using johnson & johnson vaccine with a warning. good evening, i am kate baldwin in for erin burnett. the moment leading into the fatal shooting of the 16-year-old ma'kiah bryant. you can see in the spot shadow of what we added of there is appear odded to be a scuffle an bryant lunged into another woman with a knife. this is the latest of several videos we have seen of the deadly incident. the body cam video released within hours of bryant's death. the timing of the shooting and the verdict of derek chauvin's murder trial drove officials to release those videos quickly.

to protect the young woman in pink. >> i would ask you if that's your family member up against the car that had a puppy in her hand, what would you want that officer to do in that split second that they had a chance to stop harm to others? we have the duty ato protect th public ourselves. >> immediately upon exiting the vehicle, officer sees one person in possession of a knife and he sees a potential person standing next to the order. the potential victim could have possibly lost their life. >> explain why the officer took these actions and why he did so quickly?

police had been called. they knew they were coming into a situation with girls, a teenager and two women. we should have been in deescalation mode. it should not be a car pulls up and the officer gets out within 10 seconds. there was another lady that was already on the ground and m ma'khia had the kitchen knife in her hands. i can't say her intention were to kill this person. we should be saving all lives. we have to have a better situation especially as we were on the same day, the same hour waiting for the verdict in the george floyd's case. i was there with that family grieving, had been with the family with casey goodson and andre hill. all of us are saying enough is enough. we have to learn how to

>>. >> the officer was placed in a terrible situation. i am not arguing the anger and the frustration and the pain and hurt that's going on in the community. however, i think we have to be realistic. everyone can sit there and say there has to be a better way. when the officer got there, it was immediate explosive situation in 11 seconds. there was an attack in the other girl that was pushed down and attacked with a knife. she immediately went towards the young woman up against the vehicle and the officer in my opinion had no other resources to stop that threat. tasers don't always work. it was just a terrible situation but i believe the police officer

acted as he's in training and the law states it is lawful. >> the police released body camera within hours. among the fastest release. one of the reasons why that the city did is the timing of the shooting, about half on hour before a verdict was announced insi the derek chauvin's trial. do you think this should be the new standard for transparency? >> when we were in the task force, that was one of our recommendations, we need to be as transparent as possible. every officer works in different laws. you had this incident with information released quickly and you have other incidents where it is delayed quite a while and that causes suspicion and unrest in the community. that's the laws the department has to work under.

seven deputies have been placed on administrative leave as a result of a shooting. two others resigned and one retired. police say they were trying to serve an arrest warrant on brown. deputies opened fire on the car he was driving. investigators are sharing very little information. diane gallagher is out front with the latest. >> reporter: after three day of peaceful protest in north carolina. >> you see all these people here want answer. >> reporter: tommy wutan revealing seven deputies involved in the death of andrew brown jr. >> there is nothing to hide, i am trying to let the investigation unfollow. >> reporter: wutan meeting with

district court judge so we talk about these things all the time. what i am hoping is that the slow speed of the process will equal accuracy. i said when i first spoke about this matter was that i was not concerned of the speed but i am extremely concerned in watching the accuracy. so i have been asking the cit citizens of elizabeth city, i am so proud of them. how they have brought awareness to the situation but they have been extremely careful not to create any distractions. distraction takes away the matter at hands. i believe in them and trust them. >> how long is too long though? for a lot of folks they say get before the judge.

it was part of an oracle traited effort on the issue of medical marijuana. cnn reported gaetz is under investigation for engaging in a relationship with a girl that began when she was just 17 and that gaetz attended sex parties in orlando with other prominent republicans that involves women, drugs and exchange of sex for money. investigators have one key witness who's cooperating and that's joel greenberg. he's a close associate of congressman of gaetz, he also attended those sex parties. he was indicted on multiple charges of sex trafficking. he's expected to enter a plea deal in the coming weeks. >> paula, you reported a number of his close associates have ties into the industry, who are these people? >> gaetz have a long history of

advocating for medical marijuana and federal levels seeking to loosen laws that regulate the drugs. he has associates to over lap within the industry. a florida doctor found a medical marijuana advocacy group accompanied gaetz on that 2018 trip to the bahamas. the pair repeatedly intersected over medical marijuana. gaetz introduced medical marijuana legislation two weeks after vacationing with that doctor in the florida keys. one week after, that doctor launched a medical marijuana company.

breaking news, as we discussed the cdc and fda lifting the pause of johnson & johnson's coronavirus vaccine but will come with a warning for women under 50. dr. jonathan reiner is with us. what do you think of this decision? >> i think it's the right decision. the j&j vaccine is a really effective vaccine, and it has a lot of benefits compared to the two mrna vaccines. it really easy to transport. it can remain in a refrigerator without deep freeze for months at a time and it's only a single shot so it really amplifies our

ability to get vaccines into arms. the risk of thrombosis is low. the committee found 15 cases out of 8 million shots, that's about two shots -- two cases of thrombosis per million shots. so it's very, very safe. just to put this in prospective, the risk of thrombosis from covid-19 itself is about 16%. so many orders of magnitude are more likely to get a clot from the virus itself than from the vaccine. i think they made the right decision and adding a caution in the label allows providers to discuss this in detail with patients. >> absolutely. on the overall vaccine effort, doctor, republican senator ron johnson is sticking with his neck out once again questioning the public health push for
