a few hours. i want you to hear this. a quote from an op-ed by capitol police sergeant in the new york times. he is one of the american heroes who risked their lives defending the seat of our democracy, defending it from a mob of trump supporters who stormed the capitol. they wounded him and many more of those officers. they tried to stop the certification of our free and fair election. the title of his op-ed, i was betrayed by president trump. this is what he writes. he said, i believe he betrayed his oath to defend the constitution. it was to the detriment of me, my colleagues, and all americans whom he was supposed to protect. he is right. we were all betrayed by donald trump. betrayed by president who swore to preserve, protect, defend the constitution of the united states. full stop. period.

let's bring in cnn political analyst anderson and former senior investigator for the generous six collect committee, john. what's so good to have both of you want. good evening to you, john, i'm not serve you. you've worked very closely with the committee. how are they going to show a direct connection between these extremist groups and trump? what kind of evidence will they lay out here? >> yeah. it remains to be seen whether there is going to be evidence showing direct communications between any of these groups and president trump or any of the white house. i think at the very least we are going to hear that president trump exploited the existence of these groups. that he knew or should have known that these groups existed and that they could easily be inflamed by his language. nonetheless, he went out on the ledge in front of the white house in the morning of january 6th and used extremely aggressive rhetoric that had a

natural effect of leading these groups to violence. >> down, talk to me about this former oath keeper spokes person. he is a self described propagandist, expected to testify tomorrow. what questions will he be able to answer? do you think that he is going to show? >> yeah. i was not at the interview with the committee. i think that it is a huge victory for the committee that they're airborne to have a former member of one of the extremist groups there, in person, testifying about his experiences. so, i think it is going to be really compelling testimony. just to hear how scary these groups are. how much they're dividing our country. >> liam henderson, a source telling cnn that we're going to see from paris, he pled guilty to entering the capitol the sixth. how big of a deal is a? >> it's a big deal. they have someone who was there

at the capitol first at the rally and then marched to the capitol. one of the things this committee wants to do is show that this was a mob. if you look at when harrison said so far, he has a facebook post where he is pointing to that tweet from donald trump saying, come to the capitol. it is going to be -- so, he drives from ohio to be there. it is facebook post, you can tell he's increasingly becoming radicalized. in the weeks leading up to january six, he's using words like treason. is using words like civil war. you know, idea of standing up to fight. this was an election that was stolen from donald trump. so, this was important. he gives what that bob was thinking and how connected they were to donald trump. that he, in fact, summoned them

and was aware of the radicalization. and radicalizing the, as well. of course, we saw what happened at the capitol that day. and then, connect to that december 10th meeting. that is the day before. >> of the influence. >> right. >> that he had on them. but they carried out on that day. another question for you, tomorrow we are going to hear some of the tape testimony from former white house counsel pat cipollone. sources tell cnn that he was asked extensively about december 18th. that meeting he touched on 2020 where trump and a group of election deniers were plotting. why is this meeting so critical to this committee? >> listen. this is a wild meeting that happens in the evening of december 18th. it lasts for hours. it was from the oval office on to the private residence. you have these conspiracy theories, mainly led by city pell, who are saying all sorts of crazy things. centered on committee dominion voting machines, government

should see them because both have been changed by foreign entity. that should be the special counsel. there's lots of yelling. rudy giuliani giuliani is on the phone listening to these meetings. you have cipollone arguing back and forth with participants. conspiracy theories on what could be called team normal. at that point, it's after that meeting which lasted until midnight, or so. it's after that meeting that the tweet comes on december 19th. he says people says, it is going to be wild. imagine, cipollone. there he was in lots of these meetings. i'm imagine his testimony that appears tomorrow on videotape. one such a meeting. >> he says, it will be wild. how does the committee prove, john, this is actually motivated extremists to act? >> well, you know, i think we're going to hear from one of

the former member of the extremist groups. probably a lot of videotape evidence. it's something that select committee has a very effectively. not just have life witnesses, but put together compelling excerpts of other deposition testimony. so, we're going to hear witnesses say. particularly people who were involved attacking the capitol. >> john, prosecutors say at least one of keeper brought explosives to the d.c. area ahead of the january six. it's a question of whether donald trump knew the risk for violence. is that? it >> i'm pretty sure he had to know the risk. he might not have known specifically the domestic violent extremist groups bringing explosive to the d.c. area, but he had to have been aware of the existence of these groups. these groups were supporting him. members of these groups showed up on january six. so, he had to know that the

language he used leading up to january 6th, the morning of the six, created a risk. and then, course, what you find out from tomorrow's hearing from cassidy hutchison, you will hear the last hearing which will be primetime. you know, what the president did or didn't do while the attack was going on in the capital. that's one of the most damning parts of donald trump. according to cassidy hutchison, possibly others, he did very little to stop what was happening he was one person the roles that could've said something to try and stop the attack. he chose not to. i just sitting here going over some of the names that people are discussing. the giuliani, the sydney powell, michael flip, and what was in that sort of box gallery. to analysis. who would take any of these people seriously? it is amazing that the -- i guess there are telling many wanted to hear. i think about those people on the reputations.

>> that's right. and sort of at the conclusion of that meeting. you've got team normal essentially saying to trump, are you going to believe us? team normal that it's telling you that all these conspiracy theorists are out of their mind. and ultimately donald trump sides with the people who are telling him what's he wants to hear. and at some point i think he said at least. testifying at least they're giving me a chance. and the other folks, of course, i think you don't have a. chance because at this point, remember, the electoral college is already met and all the different states. this is official. he has lost. and so on december 18th you have to very very contentious, very very long meeting. and the white house. with these conspiracy theories. the mom of the, like how did sydney powell even get into the white house. and there she has. talking to president of the united states who should be worried about the transition, conducting the actual business of governing in the final days

of his turning office. but instead, he's talking to these conspiracy theories about these cockamamie theories about the 2020 election. >> we are free and fair election america. i'm not happy with the outcome of the election. i thought i should've won. but we're got welcome the biden ministration and the people of spoke. and what happened to those days? now we're living in a time where giuliani, sydney powell, jenna alice, and michael flynn are the presidents advisors. and that was taken council with. the former president should say. thank you both. the committee says it is focusing on extremist groups and their role on january 6th. next them to talk to a man who saw the proud boys inaction and what he saw was violent. biden understand how violent that event was. i saw it, i documented it, and i experienced it. i heard incredibly aggressive chanting.

almost halfway through his term, it is beyond scary but this president. when you think conversations are like in the white house? >> well, one thing about this white house is that they do not scare easily and they know democrats. that is how they won their primary. that's how they won their nomination. tuning out, listen to the signal over the noise. by the way, i don't think it's a surprising at all these numbers given all that joe biden is dealing with. it's not surprising because in many respects, joe biden himself said that he it's a transitory -- or a presidential transition. meaning, giving the signal that he knows he is 80 years old. he knows he's an old, white guy in a party that is demographically changing endeavors. the future is not going to be an old, white guy. the last person to say he's not running is going to be joe biden. the second last person is going

was 25. that was in part because some of the other leaders of his party are undermining. him undermining him with other voters. they're attacking him instead of attacking republicans. it is an enormous problem. he has this huge, broad coalition. some of these people, they're on the same boat. some of them are punching holes in the. they're complaining that biden is getting them wet. >> paul, here's a thing. like i said, i pointed out the under 30 voters. the people show up to the polls are, you know, my mom's age. frankly, my age. i call them the church ladies. the more moderate part of the democrat party, people who don't want free tuition for everyone. or extremists but extremely left. those are the people that show up to the polls. so, might these numbers, i don't know. i don't know this is a poll. it's a snapshot in time. might these numbers be skewed? >> yeah.

adults. that fourth shot. considering how a base of this variant is to the vaccine, how much do you think that four shot will help? >> yeah. i think it will, but we know it will do, is help prevent serious illness. what's really trying to do is prevent people from being hospitalized. over the past month, hospitalizations have increased. basically, doubled over the last month. over the last couple of weeks, we've seen deaths start to revamp as well. we're nowhere near where we were back in december or january. still, about 300 that -- 300 people are dying. 2000 people a week. adding to the ability to boost antibodies and people under the age of 50 have not yet gotten the second booster, that should help that group prevent serious illness across hospitalization and death. i think it is a good idea. in the fall, we'll probably see
