in billings montana that a swarth of air space that helena to billings was closed to flights for two hours wednesday, 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. this is a large swarth of air space, a couple hundred miles long. the good news is this only impacted a few flights. because remember, it's the middle of the week, it's the middle of the winter time, not a lot of air traffic taking place in that area, because it's typically not very busy this time of year. what is also interesting here though is that this is having an impact because it is so high, the balloon is at 60,000 feet according to the pentagon aerialers just to put this in context, typically are around 30,000 feet. the pentagon said this balloon is over the central part of the u.s. so the big question is, what happens if and when it does come down? could this have more of an impact on commercial flights or

. economists are stunned by today's blockbuster jobs report the u.s. economy added 517,000 jobs in january. >> nearly triple what market watchers forecasting president biden took a victory lap. >> here's where we stand. strongest job growth in history, lowest unemployment rate in 54 years. manufacturing rebounding at a faster rate than last 40 years. inflation coming down, wages going up but moderately going up not going through the roof. economy growing at a solid clip put simply i would argue the biden economic plan is working. >> matt egan is here, matt, a president biden is thrilled, what is the fed chair thinking. >> he's got to be thinking what do i have to do to stop this run away train? because the fed has raised interest rates eight times over past years, that is the economic equivalent to slamming the

brakes and yet the jobs market is speeding up. which is just incredible. this 517,000 jobs added in january, that is not just more than double the estimate, it's actually 200,000 jobs stronger than even the most optimistic forecaster. you can see on the chart, it has hiring clearly accelerated, and unemployment rate down to 3.4% the spike on the screen on the left is in the spring of 2020 almost 15% the new number is not just a post covid low. it is the lowest since may of 1969, which is just before man first walked on the moon. pretty amazing. and probably wondering who is hiring? just about everyone, there was widespread job growth, you look restaurants and bars added almost 100,000 jobs, government, healthcare, retail, construction, manufacturing, hotels, all of them adding a jobs in january, by all accounts the jobs market is still somehow

the wind? >> yes, it's a great question, i personally think and i don't have data to back this up, just anecdotally speaking speaking to ceo market participants, i believe american company which is used to have a tendency to hire and fire quickly i think given the labor issues, the shortages and the wage inflation of the last few years, they're starting to think a little bit more long-term strategically about labor, keeping people on longer, i think they're hiring even if they're not completely sure what the year will hold because they don't want to be in a situation they were in a couple of years ago, where you can't find anybody and your business is suffering, then you really have to pay through the nose. so to me this is actually a good thing, this is a healthy thing, i think part of the overall biden economic agenda is to move to an american economy that is more about wage growth and less about trying to create asset

details that part of the investigation. >> thank you. let's go back now to ed inside the dallas zoo we fixed the audio issue next to some enclosures cut. what do you know about the investigation? >> well, this morning, dallas police announced that a 24-year-old man by the name of damian irvine was arrested in connection charged with six counts of animal cruelty in connection with two tameron monkeys stolen from the dallas zoo earlier this week, found safely in an abandoned house south of here, but this is where the mystery to all of this started several weeks ago. this is the habitat for kind of an, a pe species, you can see them, there's four of them kind of jumping around the enclosure, several weeks ago, zoo officials noticed that this area had been cut, this wire mesh had been cut. the langers did not escape. you remember several weeks ago

you heard the news of the clouded leopard that escaped and that is just a habitat two down from where these langers are, we'll show you that in a second, this was the area that was cut and the clouded leopard did escape from here. that was back on january 13th. and it became clear zoo officials say this was something that was a deliberate and intentional act and the leopards cannot be seen now that's the way live television works but it is cold they're kind of hiding away, but that leopard was found later that same day just on the other side of that fence, didn't actually get far away from all of this, but then, several weeks later, on the other side of the zoo that was a rare vulture that died and they found that it was intentionally wounded. killed essentially. then earlier this week, those tameron monkeys disappeared and they were found just the next day. so all of this is a mystery that has really worried and troubled zoo officials here, they've tried to figure out exactly why

gun. >> the court agreed with the challenge that the federal law banning that group of people from owning weapons is unconstitutional. explain this for us >> first of all, that is a very conservative federal appeals court and it's made more conservative because of former president trump's nominees as you said what the court did is in validated this law that blocked a person under a restraining order for domestic violence from possessing a handgun. but here's what was really critical. they based their entire opinion on a landmark opinion that we had at the supreme court last term, and in that opinion, the justices basically told lawyer courts they had to change the frame work about how they evaluate gun regulations, they said going forward they had to look toward america's history and american tradition when seeing if a law passes muster, so this federal appeals court

looked at this law and said the government hasn't shown that it's based in history and tradition and they invalidated it. and attorney general merrick garland was quick to react to think he issued statement and he said he was going to appeal and he said nearly 30 years ago, congress determined that a person who subject to a court order that restraining him or her from threatening and intimate partner or child cannot lawfully possess a firearm, whether analyzed through the lens on the supreme court precedent or the tradition of the 2nd amendment that statute is constitutional now he's got to appeal and he has choices he goes back to a bigger number of judges on this very conservative federal appeals court, or he might have better luck going straight to the supreme court and that's a quandary for this court, they recently visited the 2nd amendment, usually like to have things percolate and now they might be drawn in again

another dog was given to me three weeks after sapphire died because i was in such dire straits. a former naval buddy of mine and he knew i needed a dog in my life. that rescue was in virginia beach. i'm in new jersey. within three weeks they had a ride for the dog to come with me. when i left her alone to go to work, she had bad separation anxiety. she would chew on my doorknobs. i had to get another dog to keep her company. i got another dog. she wasn't from a shelter. she was from a family that had to give their dog up because of rules of where they lived. i intervened and took her before she wound up in a shelter. the funny thing is, the first pit pull i had was emerald. the second was afsapphire. these two were named ruby and diamond before i adopted them. >> that is a sign.
