passed through the tsa checkpoints yesterday which is up 250,000 from last year. air travel is expected to be up 11% compared to last year. 3.4 million people are set to fly this weekend which is up 5% when compared to pre-pandemic air travel. according to aa aaa, 54 million americans are planning to travel more than five miles this holiday. pete muntean is with us, and what is happening there? >> to where i have seen the highest number of people since the pandemic. we have seen the numbers on wednesday, and monday, and those

were even bigger than this same day in 2019 before the pandemic, so it is likely that we will beat the tsa's estimate of 10 million people between thursday and sunday. and a little bit conservative. so, after the meltdowns of last summer, the reservations are ready to go, and they are the right sized and offering fewer planes and the right staff. they have 48,000 staff member hs since last year, and as i talked to some of them, they said it is top of mind at reagan international airport, and they it is a could be a repeat, but

him back. let me bring in miles o'brien. on several levels this should not have been able to happen, and what are you seeing here? >> well, kate, the key thing to know is that these doors are like stoppers in a bathtub. they are plug doors. when the plane is pressurized at altitude, it is humanly impossible to pull them in and push them out and when the plane is lower, and the cabin is pressurized which it would be at 700 feet, and fortunately nobody was hurt. it is part of the string of cases of passengers who have been trying to monkey around with these doors. >> it is a good point, and if your point, people have been

after the first lady had invited the second place runners up, that idea was skrapd. and now, with a number of lawmakers leaving town, they have left not believing they would vote for the final agreement, and making more demands for border security. some democrats are saying they will not vote for it if it requires things like stricter work details and finalizing as a critical period in the negotiations. the president has said some progress has been made, and there are some signs that it is

true, but it is not near reaching final deal. we know the contours that are starting to come together about what a possible agreement could look like, and that is raising the debt ceiling for two years, and pairing it with spending caps for the same length of time, and the spending caps would not apply to defense or veteran program, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done when it is coming to finalizing what spendk level might look like. additionally, there are other sticking points including working requirements for safety net programs. this is what the negotiators are talking about as the negotiations continue. at the same time, you are hearing some frustration from both sides, republicans and democrats who feel that each of the sides is giving is leaking

out from that. and so one key challenge is going forward for any type of agreement that does emerge. one thing that the president and the white house is clear about is no option to raising debt ceiling. they say it is time for congress to act. one area that the progressives have impressed on him is that he could raise the debt ceiling on his own. but this morning, the secretary treasury said that option is not a go. >> is that a no? >> so, the question was whether the utsz would use the 14th amendment, and the secretary and have said it will not solve our problems, so, yes, that is a no. >> what is clear at this moment is that they are facing a very serious time crunch when you are

review the consent cable, and allowing the summary of the dissent summary, and he gave it to all of the members of the committee in a classified session, and the summary met what we saw in the actual dissent cable. and then, you know, when i am thinking about what i understood, and knew what was going on at the time, and back during the withdrawal, there seemed to be consistency there, and i came out of the importance and the decent cable, because the government did and there was something that dissent cable was asking it to do before they received the cage, so there was something going on before, i classified it as a coach or a team, and you are looking, and review and watching the tapes,

to be transporting the people, and that is going to be done by the school system employees inside of a school system vehicle that is going to be branded with the safe summer things going on here. when they get to the rec centers, the two centers, that is going to be manned by folks at any office and other city agencies, but we will have that on site to help with the security, and to access where the emergency contacts, and the folks to have them picked up. law enforcement is not going out to pulling and pushing the people into the vans. so all of the things that the folks thinks, we have never done that in baltimore, and we have never chased people in curfew, and this is something that baltimore has gotten right, and so we are going to approach that in that way. >> and mayor, i wanted to get

your response on this, because we are running short on time, but study after study has shown that curfews do not work over time, and so how is this strategy going to work in your community? >> well, we have never said this is solely about reducing crime. anybody who knows about crime knows that there is not a silver bullet. this is about the complexity of it, and as for someone who is running the youth connections, i disagree that a 10-year-old who is saying that his mother is a prostitute, and we have to get him in program and planning is in impact of violence. helping a 16-year-old to stay in school to graduate, and that is an impact on crime. this is about all of this, and the totality of this, and to make sure that we are doing
