attorney fani willis has her sights set on october 23rd for all 19 co-defendant, and the judge has agreed to it, and that is less than two months from now, and we begin this hour with jessica schneider of how this is going to be unfolding, and the crit tall stages ahead. jessica? >> well, sara, it is a busy and monumental week in georgia, but monday, we are set to see more at the federal courthouse in atlanta, and the federal courthouse right here in washington. first, what we can expect in georgia monday. that is when mark meadows is arguing to the judge that his case should be moved to the federal court and then thrown out, because as he has been arguing, and he will be arguing that he is acting as a federal officer in all of the alleged conduct and this is to allow for removal and dismissal of the charges. but fani willis is ready for the hearing and lined up several witnesses to dispute that contention and this is including the secretary of state brad

raffensperger, and he was at the center of the phone call from trump on january 2020 to ask him to find more than 10,000 votes for the former president to prevail over joe biden. so raffensperger is going to be at the hearing along with a few more witnesses. also, right here in washington, a hearing involving trump, the elections subversion case when tonya chutkin is going to talk about when that trial should start. counsel jack smith wants it to be in a few months from now, and trump's team is asking to push it off to 2026, and we know that fani willis in georgia is asking to try trump as soon as october, and the judge is approving the 2023 start date, so sara, a lot is swirling here in the next few week, and we will continue to see the hearings, but a lot is

talking about the mug shot and how much he is promoting it, because i talked to a number of campaign advisers before they knew if they were going to have to take it, and they did not want him to take this mug shot. remember, when he was arraigned in new york, they put on a fake photo, and they didn't want the real thing, because they wanted to control what they were going to take out, and once it is clear they would take the mug shot, they had lots of conversations with the former president who cares about the optic, and about how he would look and pose for that mug shot, and they came up with the idea that he would not smile so he would look quote, unquote defiant, and as you mentioned, then they took off with it. they posted it on x, formerly known as twitter, and this is something that we have been talking about for years when he was banned from twitter and then reinstated of whether or not he would tweet, and this is another example of trump taking control of the media narrative around it. now, when it comes to what trump

is saying to the advisers and those near him, he is agitated as he has been with the multiple charges and irked particularly by the case in georgia. he was asked last night about the co-defendants and he said that he looked at some of the mug shots and he realized that he did not know some of them, and the ones that he did know, they are people whose lives have been ruined, and to keep in mind that these people, and most of the people are charged with trying to impact the election in 2020 in his benefit. >> all right. kristen holmes, thank you so much for that. john? >> all right. i'll take it. while we still do not know when trump's georgia trial will begin, we do now know as jessica schneider was pointing out, his co-defendant kenneth cheseboro's trial is to begin, october 23rd which is eight weeks away, and

8.43 weeks away to be clear here. it is because chesebro requested a speedy trial. and now, joining us is elie honig, and former prosecutor michael zelden, and this is lost over the mug shot yesterday, but there is a trial set for 59 days from now in the georgia case, and it is not trump's, but man, this matters. >> it is such a big deal, because what has happened here is that the one defendant of 19, mr. chesebro wants a speedy trial, and you have a right under georgia trial to have a trial before the next judicial term. and if this holds, we will see a trial, and as you are trying the trial against mr. chesebro, you will have to put up all of the evidence, and you know who is sitting in the gallery watching

>> well, they align legally in a sense that if you have a preview of the case tried against you, you have a advantage. and chesebro was the author of the fake elector scheme. you can put on the broad scope of the conspiracy and the hub of it, and say that he was the spoke that did this, and i rest my case. they don't have a lot of trouble putting in a very tight case. politically, of course, trump wants this case in 2026 after the election which is at odds with chesebro and they will argue over the politics of the timing, but as the law goes, it is a advantage to defendants not been tried the, but i am not sure it is an advantage to chesebro to go to quickly, and he may say, look, i played a little role, and get rid of me, and acquit me, and get the
