allowed through september 8th, for first time in four cases we could see donald trump live pleading not guilty. we begin in georgia where mark meadows is testifying on the stand, and we will have sara murray with the latest details. so, sara, what is the chief of staff saying? >> well, boris, it is remarkable that he is taking the stand at all. he has kept such a low profile. but now he is in the midst of the hearing to move his part of the case to federal court, and potentially trying to get them dismissed. he is talking about what it is like to serve as chief of staff in the trump white house, and of course, chaotic white house, and saying that it was challenging times and he said that nobody was fully prepared for that type of job, and talking about the daily morning call on the days after the attack on january 6th,
8:04 am
and on that call was mike pompeo and general milley and the possibility that system of the adversaries could see the u.s. weak in the wake of the events on january 6th, so it is playing out in this federal courtroom in georgia, and we are looking at not just any of the implication for what it means for mark med dose and the case and the efforts to move it to federal court, but what it could mean for the broader case of the case that fani willis is trying to make against donald trump and the co-defendants. you pointed out for arraignment, boris, but we are waiting to see how it pans out for mark meadows and donald trump and others and this is a courtroom that allows the people to do their arraignments over zoom or waive them if the judge allows it. we are waiting to see if donald trump and the allies will end up in a courtroom on september 6th or not. >> important to point out that mark meadows throughout all of

this is quiet, and yet today, he is taking stand, and giving significant testimony. and rahel, this is a lot in georgia. >> and boris, i want to go to washington, d.c., where a judge has just rejected the trial dates that special counsel jack smith and donald trump has proposed for the subversion case. and so when is this trial going be? i want to bring in zachary koep, and bring us inside of the courthouse, because the judge is making comments for both sides to lower the temperature. >> that is right, rahel, as it is getting heated inside of the courtroom as the lawyers are arguing over the timing of when this trial should start, and so far, we know when the trial is not going to be started. and the judge is making it clear to trump's lawyers that it is not two years when this trial is going to begin. they wanted april 2026 start

raised voice to say that you could suggest to go to trial in four months is not only absurd, but it is a violation of their oath to do justice. the judge chutkan in response said, let's take the temperature down here in a little bit. and so it sounds like there are tense moments in court, michael. >> yeah, i'm glad to be with both of you this morning. the judge is right, they need to tamp down the temperature when it comes to arguing motions. you can be a zealous advocate without taking shots at the co-counsel's credibility or integrity as the case may be in what sounds like here. no possible way for the case to be scheduled january 2nd, and it is a stunt, and everybody saw it that way, and likewise, the case was not going to be scheduled for 2026. so the judge now has to weigh both the schedule that is going on next year with the various cases as well that there is
