cancers. another thing is that they are much more to get treatment later on, so these are communities that may not go to the doctor even once they have symptoms. >> reporter: what can everyone do to counter these numbers? >> as much as you can, be the right weight, exercise. it's really important. we understand the importance of not only just a good walk every day but getting your heart rate up regularly is good for your health. that balanced sort of mediterranean diet. >> reporter: and a crucial factor, getting screenings, especially if there's a history of cancer in the family because the sooner you detect it, the better your chances of surviving. >> early detection is key. you know, if you catch is early it's treatable, and then if you treat it you can beat it. >> reporter: dr. john marshal says we've got to be better at self-screening. tell your doctor if you notice anything be a norm. >> very important information. >> thanks to our viewers.

aaron -- erin burnett starts "outfront" next. >> trump making a mockery out of a manhattan courtroom daring a judge to kick him out and insulting the woman he sexually assaulted. and a snuggling operation into the united states. our david culver following their dangerous journey and finding the migrants living in the united states when they get here. we'll see where he is tonight. and a royal mystery. buck hamm palace announced kate middleton had very serious abdominal surgery. what's wrong? let's go "outfront." good evening, i'm erin burnett. tonight the front charade. former president trump is about to speak in new hampshire after spending ghat had a new hampshire courtroom where he dared the judge in the e. jean
4:02 pm
carroll damages case out of the courtroom. this is what he wanted, the theater, the coverage, all of it. he wants this case to look like a charade, like a joke, throwing his hands in the head, mod muttering the words witch hunt and kwon job and he did it while eernlgts jean carroll was testifying and after court when trump goes out it goes this way. >> this is a person i had no idea until this happen works she was nor could i care less. it's a rigged deal. it's a made-up fabricated story. >> trump accusing carroll of lying. just to be clear here though because it's actually very easy to muddy the waters in this case and important to pull the mud out at moments. the judge reminded judge, that quote, for the purposes of this trial it has been determined already that mr. trump did sexual assault miss carroll.
4:03 pm
this is important to remember. the jury already decided this. so what's at stake now just how much money he may have to pay in defamation. not the abuse part. his verbal part is consistent with trump, part of a long pattern which he's employing on the campaign trail when it comes to women. just look at what he said about his closest competitor nikki haley works as i speak right now, actually holding a dualing rally in new hampshire. >> now they are pushing bird brain, you know who that is. nikki haley. she's not tough enough to deal with these people. i will tell you that. she's not tough enough. >> bird brain, the tough word, trump and women. nothing has changed there. not on the campaign trail and not in the courtroom. paula reed is "outfront" live to begin our coverage. clearly the former president wanted this drama. he courted it in a courtroom. what did he get out of it today? >> reporter: yeah, it's remarkable, erin, when you have
4:04 pm
someone on the stand that a jury has found was sexually abused testifying about their experience. it takes quite a lot to try to steal the spotlight from them and the way trump and his lawyers went about it today was to try to manufacture some drama between them and the judge. for example, throughout eernlgts j jean carroll's testimony, she testified at the trial in the spring but he didn't attend a minute that have trial, while she was testifying trump was physically and verbally reacting. erin, when are you in a federal courtroom there are rules. being disruptive during witness testimony is forbidden by anyone. you or i would likely be kicked out of a court root of course, the judge pushed back on trump, one time urging him to be mindful and not sob so loud that the jury could hear him and be more forceful the second time it came up. it's not clear why trump thinks the rules of deck number a federal courtroom don't apply to him. his lawyer alina habba
4:05 pm
admonished by the judge for not following the basic rules of evidence when trying to introduce pieces of evidence during his cross-examination. look, all these appear -- these sort of manufactured controversies, they are not following the basic rules applied in a federal courthouse. the trump team is litigating some constitutional questions, today's drama seemed designed to amplify the narrative that trump is somehow the victim of an unfair scystem. it's very difficult for survivors of sexual assault to testify in any courtroom never mind when their perpetrator is just a few feet away. again, trump, his goal today was to seize the spotlight and try to amplify his own victim narrative. >> paula, thank you very much right outside that courtroom now. i want to go to ty cobb, the
4:06 pm
fo former trump white house lawyer. the judge said he could be removed after trump was overhead making several companies like witch hunt and kopp job and paula is talking about that. the judge responded, and i want to read exactly what the judge said. he said mr. trump has the right to be present here. that right can be forfeited and it can be forfeited if he's disruptive which what has been reported to me consists of and if he disregards court orders. mr. trump, i hope i don't have to consider excluding you from the trial and throws his hands up in response and the judge says i understand you're probably eager for me to do that, and then reporters in the courtroom heard trump reply, quote, i would love it. the judge responds i know you would. you just can't control yourself in this circumstance apparently. what do you make of this back and forth? i mean, does he really want the judge to kick him out? does that serve his purpose? >> yeah, very much so. i mean, trump is only there to create a political narrative, you know.
4:07 pm
there's nothing that he can contribute to this trial as opposed to the last trial where he was found guilty of sexual abuse, sexual assault. there he actually could have testified and, you know, addressed the facts as to whether or not it occurred. this is just about damages. there's nothing, you know, that trump can say about damages. there's nothing he has to say about, you know, her testimony or the experts' testimony. he's not going to testify. so he's just there for the show and the free publicity because, you know, trump person phase the adage that there is no bad publicity. if they are talking but, you're winning. >> right. >> and i think, you know, his -- his name-calling, you know, is characteristic -- i mean, he went from name-calling the judge to name-calling nikki haley, you know. his continued lying about the sexual assault, even though a jury has already found him guilty, is very much akin to him still lying about the election being stolen. this is -- this is trump at his worst, and i don't think we're
4:08 pm
going to see anything much different between now and november. >> so the -- the former president then posted a very lengthy rant on social pedia about the judge. the judge in the trial that i'm attending stayed a totally biased and hostile person, abusive and rude and obviously not impartial, the point he's trying to make and then he went on to reseat some of piece claims in court. at the time, ty, what he was doing is slamming the judge for not cancelling court tomorrow which would enable trump to attend his mother-in-law's funeral which is also tomorrow. here's trump. >> so he would rather have me miss the funeral or go to the funeral and miss the trial, and that's a nasty man. he's a nasty judge. he's a trump-hating guy, and it's obvious to everybody in the court. it's a disgrace frankly what's happening. it's a disgrace. >> ty, as you've made clear. he doesn't need to be there and there's reason for him to be there at all so being there is a show, and there is no choice. he can go to the funeral.
4:09 pm
there's no impact. however, he's presenting it this way for a reason. the reason is he wants the judge to look biased. you would give other people the day off if they needed to hoave the day off but not me. >> there are diehard fans who believe this fantasy about this being a politically motivated judiciary and justice department and federal courts, but judge kaplan is, you know, held in high regard. had's a well-seasoned judge. he's handled many, many cases that are a much heavier left than this judge than this particular case hmps's handled terrorism case, mob cases and just handled the sam bankman-fried case uncertain serious judge and believes that lawyers should understand that it's a privilege to be a lawyer and that they need to follow the rules and his duty is to make sure things proceed honorably and expeditiously and
4:10 pm
judiciously. i think his frustration with trump is understandable and he's equally and probably more frustrated with trump's lawyers who did some shocking things in the courtroom today. >> well, his lawyer alina habba violated all the rules. she wouldn't stand up. he said this is a basic rule. these are the basic rules of decorum. again and again they were violated. >> that and responding to him at one point saying i don't like to be talked to that way. and then she did a version you know, sort of minor league job of trying to introduce some evidence, and, you know, the judge was very patient with her. gave her two recesses or two opportunities to try to guide her through it himself. called a halt and took a break hoping that one of her colleagues could figure out how to do what she intended. it was really sort of, you know, embarrassing, and i think he's -- i think that's not -- that's not the type of lawyering that he's used to seeing, and
4:11 pm
i'm sure that frustrates him because he demands a lot of the lawyers that show up in his courtroom, not the least of which is respect, not only for the judge but for the judicial system, and he's not getting that from her, and i'm sure that is in part what he's responding to. >> all right. ty, thank you, as always. >> my pleasure. thanks, erin. nice to be with you. >> good night. next, you're looking at live pictures of nikki healy in new hampshire as the attacks between her and trump have gotten exceedingly ugly. plus, a massive multi-million dollar business smuggling migrants into the united states, and tonight we uncover where the tens of thousands of migrants are heading once they cross the border. and a rising star in the republican party had a lot to say about abortion. >> a lot of people tell me don't say abortion is murder. guess what, abortion is murder! >> but wait until you see what our k file found about his use of the word abortion now.

the state earlier today to go down to south carolina. he sass trump is ramping up a series of racist attacks on haley in the state, a sign of how negative things will get before tuesday's new hampshire primary. kristen holmes is out front. >> reporter: donald trump is squarely putting his focus on nikki heal as he eyes an a win in new hampshire. >> nikki healy is a disaster. >> reporter: the former president is dismissing haley's support claiming the former south carolina governor is claiming on democrats to boost her candidacy. >> nikki haley in particular is counting on the tempts and liberals to infiltrate your republican primary. they are going to load it up with democrats and independents, and that's not what the republican party is about. >> reporter: registered democrats are not able to vote in the gop primary though republican and undeclared voters can. the gop front-runner also returning to familiar tactics on social media, attacking haley using her birth name after
4:17 pm
recently amplifying a name who said haley who was born in south carolina could not be president because her parents were not u.s. citizens at the time of his birth in echo of the racist lie he promote that had barack obama was not born in the u.s. >> people behind nikki heal repro-am nesty and pro-china shoot attacks are part of a broader strategy to blunt haley's momentum as polls show her, striking distance. >> drug traffickers, rapists, poisoning our country but nikki haley refused to call illegals criminals. >> reporter: haley treating new hampshire as a two-person contest. >> when you look at the fact that we've got all these issues around the country and around the world and what are biden and trump both focused on, investigations, past issues, things that aren't taking us forward. we can either have more of the same or we can say it's time to
4:18 pm
change and move forward. >> reporter: but the former south carolina governor once again inviting scrutiny for comments about race after earlier drawing criticism for failing to mention slavery as a cause of the civil war. >> we're not a racist country, brian. we've never been a racist country. >> asked about the comments during a cnn town hall florida governor ron desantis not agreeing with haley or attacking his rival. >> the u.s. is not a racist country and we're overcome things in our history. i think the republican party stands for merit and achievement and color-blindness. that's what we should stand for. >> now donald trump also spoke after his court appearance earlier today, but it was clear new hampshire was still on his mind. he repeated saying that democrats were going to vote in the gop primary, something that again is not true. only registered republicans and independents can vote in the primary. he also said that he had seen polls that indicated he was very up in new hampshire, and i will tell you, erin, i've talked to a
4:19 pm
lot of his campaign advisers, and they are still concerned about haley's rise. erin. >> kristen, thank you very much from portsmouth tonight. >> i want to go to wayne mcdonald, a longtime major player in gop politics, a state representatives, and he was the state campaign chair for chris christie's campaigns in both 2016 and 2024 and wayne was also the person christie was speaking to in the viral hot mic moment just before christie announced he would end the campaign when christie said nikki healy is going to get smoked. i'll ask you about that in a sec, wayne, and i wanted to ask you about the race now. it's getting very nasty, you know. these things are very personal and per jurortive. will this turn voters off in new hampshire, and do you think it will hurt trump or haley more? >> negative campaigning, unfortunately, is effective. as a former state party chairman i always got nervous during primaries when leading candidates, whether it was for
4:20 pm
president or governor or u.s. senate or whatever started getting nasty, but at the same time it almost always happens in every race, especially when you get towards election day, towards primary day because there's so much at stake. they have invested so much and it's understandable that they are starting to feet pressure and they want to win. >> so ron desantis did leave new hampshire today heading back to florida, his home, of course, before going to weekend events in south carolina. now the new hampshire primary is six days away. south carolina is obviously more than a month away. does this strategy make sense to you? >> well it flies in the face of quiz do. i'm not supporting governor desantis or former president. i have said i'm supporting ambassador haley. his leaving new hampshire does fly in the face of conventional wisdom and normal campaign
4:21 pm
practices, with only six days to go until the new hampshire primary. i'm surprised to hear that he did leave. >> you know, you mentioned you're not going to support haley, but right now you're not supporting trump or departmentis that. viral hot myoc moment that you were a par of, chris christie, were you there with him and he tells you nikki healy is going to get smoked just before he went out on stage to speak less directly shall we say. he obviously didn't say that. i want to play part of the exchange with you, wayne. >> people don't want to hear, it way. they don't want to hear it. we know we're right, but they don't want to hear it. >> right. >> and there's, you know, we couldn't have been any clearer. >> right. >> she's going to get smoked. she's not up to this. >> she's still 20 points behind trump in new hampshire. >> oh, yeah, yeah. >> after christie dropped out you made it clear you're not going to support nikki heal so
4:22 pm
that leaves trump or desantis if you're going to pick the gop. are you close to making a dein addition what's going decide who you pick? >> well, as i've said, and i have friends in all of the campaigns. >> yeah. >> you know, both currently, the current campaigns as well as the campaigns of the candidates who have dropped out, and one of the things i said is i was much more pro chris christie than i was anti-anybody else. governor christie and i are friends. i was happy to support him eight years ago and happy to support him and there's a good chance that i'll stay out of things right up until i mark that ballot next tuesday so i'm not in any hurry at all, and can i tell you that some christie supporters have actually been voting for christie even though he got out of race. that's the kind of commitment he's attracted from his
4:23 pm
supporters. >> which is a very interesting data point, where everybody talks about where might some of those voters go given his message had been very clearly and directly against trump. thank you so much, wayne. appreciate your time. and now i want to go to the democratic and south carolina state rep todd rutherford. take a look at him on the left of the screen of this image that i'm going to show you. that tsz him with nikki haley as she called to remove the confederate flag from the south carolina capital and he did all of that to get her on the desk. representative, i appreciate your time and now that race and birtherism have become a part of the campaign. no surprise that we're here. disappointing but nonetheless here we are. and a lot of people want to know where she stands. she called the removal of the confederate flag and at the time you said i give her credit for stepping out there and doing what's right, and you were with her in those moments. why do you think she's now having such a problem talking
4:24 pm
about race? >> even when i gave her credit i gave her credit for stepping in after the general assembly decided to take the flag and now she's trying to walk back comments about race and what south carolina and the country's history were when she said on fox news this country has never been racist. we know this country had 400 years of slavery which she couldn't seem to mention when she was pose that had question before so i'm not sure exactly what she's trying do but it seems a lot of dog whistling to try and get republicans to focus on anything else other than the facts and the issues, and at the end of the day i'm clear that joe biden is going to beat anybody that comes out of the republican primary, whether it's her or donald trump, but right now she's seems to be trying to do anything she can to get people to pay attention to her. >> so representative, let me ask you. you know, last week i was with her at a town hall and we talked about her remarks about the cause of the civil war, right
4:25 pm
whshs she did not mention slavery and she was clear that it should have been the first thing that she mentioned and then she said this. >> it was in the just slavery that was talked about, it was more about racism that was talked b.it was more about, you know, we had friends. we had black friends, we had white friends but it was always a topic of conversation, even among our friends and in the south we're very comfortable talking about it. >> all right. you grew up in south carolina. what's your response to that answer? >> in the south we are comfortable talking about race and it comes up in a lot of issues that divide the republicans and democrats in south carolina. a lot of issues when she was governor had to do with race including the confederate flag which she didn't want to take down before nine people were murdered when n what she calls the charleston massacre. she spent six years trying to act face race did not matter until all of a sudden it did. nine people were slaughtered in a church in charleston, south

carolina right before the republican primaries. it was the perfect storm for us to get the flag taken down, but it was also the perfect storm to put pressure on her to make it happen which she refused to do the prior six years in the governor's chair. >> representative, appreciate your time. thank you very much, sir. >> thank you. next, breaking news, agsnated. the prosecutor investigating the stunning armed assault that was broadcast live on television has been murdered. new fears of all-out chaos and lawlessness. we'll take you to the ground next. around schwarzenegger detained and facing criminal charges and death tails of this entire story are so bizarre that it's almost hard to believe, and we have to share it.

4:31 pm
the pentagon. what more are you learning about the strikes tonight. >> reporter: according to two u.s. officials, the u.s. has carried out further strikes against houthi targets in yemen. this is the fourth time, as you point out, within the course of the last seven days, that we have seen the u.s. target the iran-backed rebel group. on thursday we saw the u.s. and uk carry out a wide array of strikes against command and control, and there was a follow-on strike on friday against a radar site and then just yesterday we saw them target anti-ship ballistic missiles, and here it's unclear at this point what was targeted. we expect to find out soon with the u.s. clearly showing a willingness to go after the houthis in yemen. again, an iran-backed rebel group after the biden administration for weeks tried to avoid targeting the houthis for fear of escalation in the region. the context is important. twice this week the houthis have targeted and hit u.s.-opened and operated vessels. minor damaged ships continued on
4:32 pm
their way but that's a critical context for what we're seeing unfold here. >> a fourth night in a row. we get a list of how many strikes. some of these other nights there's been 30-plus strikes in a single night. thanks so much, orrin. as orrin gets more we'll bring him back and tonight the focus on the southern border. texas will not surrender is the attorney general's response to demands that federal agents be allowed back into a stretch of border that texas seized. you can see it surrounded by fences and national guard troops. the biden administration had demanded access be restored by tonight, and this is coming as we have been tracking the massive surge of migrants in particular now chinese migrant crossing the border via a massive underground operation. in just the past year more than 31,000 chinese migrants have illegally entered the united states which is double the prior ten years combined. as our david culver has reported here "outfront" and now tonight he's live in ecuador, and he's told bus a massive underground operation there that's been smuggling migrants into the
4:33 pm
united states. david, you're on the ground there. tonight what more are you learning? >> reporter: yeah, erin, the reason it starts here in ecuador is because this is a country that chinese nationals do not need a visa to enter, and so this is really their first stop to the americas and then they head north. the ask most why they are going north and they will tell you it's to find work and when you enter the u.s. illegally and you're in the backlog of an asylum claim that can take time. we tracked several migrants and what we found was pretty interesting. if crossing the u.s. southern border is step one. >> america. >> reporter: then step two for these chinese migrants might just be even more daunting. you've made it. now what? how is it now that you're in the united states? >> freedom. >> reporter: freedom, they tell us. even as border patrol handcuffs and leads them on to buses to be processed. where they go from here and who
4:34 pm
helps them along the way might surprise you. >> we're going to go down to the basement here. there's a couple of rooms. >> reporter: from southern california to new york, we meet dozens of chinese migrants who have taken near identical paths to get to the u.s. >> two months, he's been here four months and they came over from california? >> yeah. >> into san diego. >> reporter: for chinese migrants, parts of america can look and feel a lot like china. take new york city's flushing neighborhood, home to a chinese diaspora going back generations. it is once again a desired destination for these new arrivals. >> and you expect more to come? >> yes, maybe five. >> reporter: maybe put in another bed. the community leader tours me through the many rooms of this flushing house where he hosts migrants from china. >> you have christians. >> yes. >> reporter: buddhists. >> mostly. >> muslim. >> reporter: all under one roof? >> yeah.
4:35 pm
>> reporter: behind each door we find a different story. you're learning english. that's your doubter? >> yes. >> reporter: where is she right now? >> in china. >> reporter: she's in china right now. >> reporter: does it surprise you that we're seeing such a surge in chinese migrants coming to the u.s.? >> i'm not surprised, ma says. i think this is just the beginning, but he stresses that this goes beyond politics and economics. coming to the u.s. is their way of seeking dignity, he says. this man is seeking that dignity for his wife and their two young daughters. he says the chinese communist party's crackdown on faith, especially towards muslims, motivated him to leave. to me he says the u.s. has felt like a soft warm embrace. while some feel hope there are like this 28-year-old who feel mounting pressure to find work.
4:36 pm
he crossed into the u.s. a few weeks ago and is eager to repay money he borrowed from family and friends to make the trek. there's an army of migrants marching north, he tells me. it's going to be so competitive to get a job. he sees the migration influx as added career competition. he looks to those who have come before him, like wang in the u.s. for more than a year and a half. after flying to ecuador in the spring 20622, wang then rode motorcycles, buses and booths to get to the u.s.-mexico border, eventually making it to los angeles with a dream to become a truck driver. where do things now stand for you legally here? he tells me today he's part of the overwhelming backlog of u.s. asylum cases, but it's not stopped him from building a life here. i've got a work permit, dries e

-- dries ver's license and soc security number. we pay taxes and are not a burden. and he's now legally working as a truck drier, his focus on the road ahead, yet behind him there are thousands from china and elsewhere determined to reach their american dream. >> so, i mean, david, this is amazing to watch and so many of these migrants, the treacherous path through ecuador where you are tonight and following breaking news. incredible violence. the horrifying video of armed gunmen take over that television station and a major development tonight. what's happened? >> reporter: right. the reason we're here in ecuador, erin, is to get a better understanding of the recent surge in violence. this is a country that for so long was known as an island of peace and now it's become when the president here has said, an internal armed conflict to neutralize terror groups. so you mentioned that tv station. that's the one seen around the world because in the middle of a
4:38 pm
live news sbbroadcast 13 armed gunmen came in with explosives and they put dynamite in the front pocket of one of the news anchors all of this happening on live tv and this awoke to the country to what was playing out. it started the couple days before because you had a knee torious gang leader who somehow escaped from prison. then the next day the state of emergency was declared and now we're seeing this violence that has really caused a lot of folks to feel unsafe and even leave their homes there. >> an incredible story, just amazing to see, the chaos on the southern border, the incredible damage that the ripple effects of that. david culver, thank you very much. "outfront," the former republican congressman adam kizinger. congressman, ecuador under a state of emergency and descending into chaos and gang violence, and it was a country known as a peaceful place to go. in fact, i think it made one of the 52 places this year to go to for "the new york times."
4:39 pm
that came out probably a few days before the -- the armed raid of the television station. now assassinations. how concern about these developments? this is all stemming, of course, and related to what's going on on the u.s. southern border? >> yeah, i mean, it's extremely concerning. these are cartels that are coming from colombia. they are coming from mexico. they are expanding their operations into ecuador, destabilizing that country quite obviously, and it's -- i mean, it's really been 20or 30 years since the united states seems to have had a good foreign policy focus on our own hemisphere. i mean, what's going on in the middle east is important and what's going none ukraine is important but what's going on in our own hemisphere just as important. we can walk and chew gum. that is very concerning problem, mott just for ecuador but this is going to increase further pressure on the southern border and it really feels like we're paralyzed dealing with the southern bothered. i'll tell you, erin, as a guard
4:40 pm
pilot, an air national guard pilot, i actually worked the southern border. it's a human trafficking problem. i mean, this is -- this is not about, you know, people having an opportunity. we all want people to have an opportunity, but this is about we would find dead bodies on the southern border. this is the cartel making money on trafficking humans. one of these guys who was just interviewed says he has to pay his family money back for the journey. the money went to the cartel to get him up here, so it's a huge issue. >> and obviously those cartels now in control of many mexican states. i mean, you're seeing it. we talk about the southern border and what's happenings there, okay. there's a quarter million illegal crossings in december. the numbers are just stunning, congressman. it's hard to even, you know, comprehend it. james clapper, you know, former dni for obama said it's a national security concerning and i know you've talked about that, but when you -- when you talk to the biden administration,
4:41 pm
congressman, they say, look, they are trying. they are not signature there saying they want an open border. they put in a budget request for officers and new judges them. say it's congressional republicans blocking these proposals and essentially keeping the bothered open. is that fair? are both sides responsible for the failure on the border? >> yeah. i don't disagree. look, i mean, i don't remember the details of it, but as part of the ukraine money situation and ukraine and israel, the administration put down potential $10 billion or something like that for the border, i forget when the number was, and the republicans rejected it. i think speaker johnston either today or yesterday said it's not the time for comprehensive immigration reform. okay. i get it, but when you're making -- when you're a divided government and have you a real problem and the thing put on the table is more border agents and judgments, and here's the thing. can you go on a different news
4:42 pm
channel, in the ours, and say, what are we going do with asylum judges and pooh-pooh that and that's what you need because the backlog that's existing is because people can't get a hearing and when they get the hearing 80% are not eligible and they are deported. look, a lot needs to be done, but, look, this is an everybody problem thing. it's an american problem. >> it's not time for comprehensive border reform, that was a word salad for me, if not now but when is what you can say? congressman, always glad to see you. thank you. >> thank you the. >> k file uncovering the radical views of a rising star in the republican party. >> they were witches, all of them, and i have no doubt if it would shock me one bit involved in witchcraft. >> witches and satanists and witchcraft and kate middleton

them. >> and i have no doubt, it would not shock me one bit if they were involved in witchcraft. >> all right. that is just one of many examples uncovered by k-file of robinson expressing radically anti-abortion views. robson, also leading republican front-runner in the north carolina's governor's race is trying to walk some of this back. those are some jaw crash dropping things to say and he wasn't being facetious. he has a long history making incendiary comments about abortion. what did you find? >> that's right. our team found and again robinson voice support for the harshest anti-abortion laws completely banning it without exceptions for rape or incest and compared it to american slavery and genocide. he said women who end abortions even after 24 hours were murderers. he called abortion providers the butchers of humanity, and it's

not just abortion that robinson has come under for, he has a long history controversial comments. he mocked the survivors of the 2018 parkland school shooting for the anti-gun activism and called them spoiled little pass guards and even attacked the civil rights moving saying it caused people to lose freedom, but the abortion comments we found were some of the harshest. take a listen to just a few of them. >> a lot of people tell me don't say abortion is murder. guess what. abortion is murder! >> planned parent shood no more than a devil this himself other than an organization to help the needy need medical care. >> i want north carolina to be the most pro-life state in the nation, hands down. >> he's a rising star in the republican party, that's right, and why is he doing this. why is he moderating his

rhetoric. he's doing it because aborting has been a losing issue for republican saying he never supported bans without exceptions for rain or incest and says he does support the exceptions but every time we've seen abortion go on the ballot since roe was overthrown we've seen abortion win and abortion rights supporters win and he doesn't want this election to be a referendum on his comments. >> right now running for governor of new york. thanks very much. kate middleton in the hospital and she could be there for weeks. now she's temporarily stepping away from her royal duties as well. arnold schwarzenegger detained facing charges. i mean, wait until you hear what happened to him at airport.
4:53 pm
tonight a royal medical mystery. kate middleton is in the hospital and could stay there two weeks after undergoing surgery. 492-year-old had successful abdominal surgery and after another 10 to 14 days not they say she will recover at home and not return to public duties until maybe time late april.
4:54 pm
max foster is out front and joins me from london this. announcement was a major surprise today. what have you been able to learn about her surgery and what seems to be an incredibly lengthy stay in the hospital. we were toldy she didn't go into hospital, had the successful surgery and that it had been planned. the only detail they are giving us is off the involved from a source saying it wasn't related to cancer. so i think it has been quite a shock. show's the picture of health. she is fit, and show's been vibrant in recent engagements, and we're told that she's going to be in hospital for up to two weeks and could be then recuperating for up to three months at home, so i think it has been quite a shock to people because she is the future of the monarchy and after the queen died and the slimming down of the monarchy, it has taken

people by surprise at the very least and we won't see her now probably for months. >> especially, i understand, of course, she wants the right to privacy but everybody so very much wants to know. i can only imagine what that is like where you are. i know show's going to be missing for months and prince william now is also expected, you've been reporting, to step become from his duties while kate is recovering, contrary to some who thought he might be out there taking more of her engagements and he may be doing less to help take care of his own children. what do you know about that? >> very hands-on parents. they have a house in windsor and stay there because the school is very nearby. they don't vice principal room in the house for lots of staff. they want to do it all themselves so william has come off the royal diary, and he's there. he's looking after kate but also the kid and running them around, all of those school duties. so we've got two senior members of the royal family off duty now. we've also got king charles who will be off duty next week so
4:56 pm
you've effectively got the queen and edward and ann now stepping in representing the royal family so we're going to see a lot less of them and i think, you know, people will feel that over the coming months as well. so used to see them all the time. >> so much curiosity about what is happening there and concerning as well. max, thanks so much, and next arnold schwarzenegger detained and why authorities halled him off not to a jail but t to an a.

tonight arnold schwarzenegger will face criminal tax proceedings in germany where he'll face charges for failing to declare a very, very expensive watch. arnold is shown holding the box. schwarzenegger gets pulled aside for hours and agrees to pre-pay potential taxes on the watch. a source close to the actor said it would make for a very funny cup movie. officers tried and failed to use a credit card ma mean, wasn't working and they haul him off to an atm and needed more cash than the atm who allow him to withdraw in a bank and then they bring him a new credit card machine and that did
