>> that is what is left in the presidential race hitting the campaign trail in georgia today, kamala harris joining forces with a force in democratic politics tonight, the first joint appearance with former president barak obama kamala harris, and brock obama on stage together. that is just after harris was before undecided voters on a solo stage for 80 minutes and made her case against donald trump over and over again. returning to call him unstable. and unfit and for the first time agreeing that she believes he is the definition of fascist you think donald trump is a fascist? yes, i do. yes, i do. they also care about our democracy and not having a president united states who admires dictators. and as a fascist, he's going to sit there and stable, unhinged plotting his revenge, plotting his retribution creating an enemies list i'm

with today's plans. alayna yes. >> well, good morning, john. donald trump is headed to the west coast and luck, a lot of what he's going to be talking about, both in arizona, but also in las vegas. is kind of what we saw him do earlier this week where he's really been trying to make inroads with not only latino voters, but specifically latino man, when i talked to donald trump's senior advisers, they say that's going to be a big part of his rhetoric with these stops, really trying to make inroads with that key demographic. and of course, part of that is because they recognize how incredibly close this election is going to be in that it could be won on the margins. and so any voters, they feel like they can siphon away from harris. they do think she is not doing as well with latino voters as she could be. any voters. they can pull away from her or even tried to turn out who may be are low propensity voters will benefit them, but i do want to talk about some of his language last night. night and what we heard because i actually following the town-hall, a lot of what we saw donald trump's top allies, advisers, people like his son donald trump junior as well as stephen miller, one of his top

american base manufacturing, in american based industries, where american workers and union workers have those jobs in a way that is good paying jobs that gives people the dignity they deserve vice president harris talking about jobs and the economy during cnn's town hall event, just after announcing for the first time her support for hiking, the federal minimum wage to at least $15 but with current minimum wage around $7, what would it mean to effectively double that? cnn's matt egan is looking into it for us. he's here with us now. what are you finding them? >> well, kate, listen, the minimum wage has been stuck at 7:25 an hour for 15 years. now it used to be that congress would bump it up every few years and the 90s, there were four minimum wage increases but we've had none since 2009, which is kind of crazy when you think about it, right? most of the obama years, all of the trump administration, the pandemic, the inflation crisis. it's still been stuck there more than 5,000 but that wasn
4:23 am
days since an increase. that's actually the longest stretch since the minimum wage was actually established back in 1938 under fdr. now, harris is calling for $15 an hour. she says that the current level is poverty, wages. she's actually wants to double it and she's even suggested maybe higher because you told nbc at least that level, this is an important issue for out of people, especially younger people who tend to make up the bulk of the minimum wage workers, to be more female, less education they work in the service sector, but look, kate, as you know, it's far from clear whether or not this would actually happen if harris gets elected congress has been deadlocked. a lot people, a lot of republicans, a lot of people in the business community are worried that if you raise the minimum wage to high, it could kill jobs it could spike prices. i mean, to some extent that's true, but of course we could debate how high it is too high, exactly. obviously all of this stands in stark contrast
4:24 am
to what trump has said here, right? he was at mcdonald's in pennsylvania the other day he was it's asked directly whether he not he wants the minimum wage to go up and he didn't really answer. he said that the mcdonald's workers' are they work hard and they're great. but he really has not come out yet and said whether he wants it to go up and how high and people know many states have increase their, their statement among wage they've increased it themselves. where is it's still 725, right. >> so a lot of states, new york, new jersey, california, a lot of them have moved it up. but there's still 20 states that only require that 725 an hour includes a lot of midwestern states i will indiana, also texas. some of the battleground states as well, which is interesting, wisconsin, north carolina, and even pennsylvania, where trump was speaking at that mcdonald's. now, when you look at the overall numbers, only about 1% of hourly workers nationally makes 725 i've are
4:25 am
left that has come down in recent years. it come down dramatically from the peak in the late 1970s of north of 13% still though a lot of people only make a little bit more than that, 725 an hour. and obviously kate, the big problem here is virtually nowhere in the country is anywhere like 725 an hour, a livable wage. but whether or not it actually goes up. is going to be decided in part by who wins the white house and maybe even more importantly, the composition of congress. >> yeah, well, and that's what, that's one of the things you can take away from that map you showed a lot of pennsylvania that that's a divided legislature. so you've got you've that's what you're also seeing in the states in terms of what direction when we're the number is, it's good to see you, matt. thank you. thank you, john. >> all right. we do have new reaction this morning to the cnn town hall with kamala harris from some of the country's few remaining undecided voters. and serious, what is wrong with us? >> crocs for dogs? sell out in a single day. be me up scotty,

4:31 am
in here well, i think the first thing to think about is that it's very different year than it was four years ago. >> remember, there was a pandemic going on so many more people were voting by mail male that said we are getting a lot of data on the early vote in now, and we can start to look at that and it's true that across the board voting early voting is down and it's down substantially in some of those states like wisconsin, you can see it's down arizona, it's down substantially but in georgia and pennsylvania to the other key states, it sounds not so much so we have a little bit more to look at there in most of these states, republicans are, have more votes in the early vote. than they did four years ago. and it's completely flopped in states like nevada and arizona out west, where democrats had an edge in the early voting. according to our data, four years ago now, this
4:32 am
year republicans actually have an edge in that early voting. and part of the reason for that could be that the early voting this year includes a lot more vote by mail as are a lot more early vote in person as opposed to voting by mail. but it's all interesting stuff to look at as it comes in you mentioned georgia just briefly. >> what are some trends that you're noticing in georgia? >> in georgia, we don't have party breakdown in georgia, but we can look at racial breakdown, at break down by gender the general groupings of who's voting, for instance, women it's kind of similar to what it was four years ago, but the numbers or a little bit down and if you look at race for instance four years ago is about 500,000 black voters to about 1 million white voters at this point or that's what it is this year, 500,000 black voters to about 1 million white voters in four years ago, there were more than 650,000 black voters
4:33 am
at this point. but again, we have to caution that all of this is so different this year and we have to see what happens in the 13 days to come yeah. >> zachary wolf. thank you so much for breaking that down for us. really interesting, john, right? >> so what is the feeling this morning after the cnn town hall with kamala harris cnn's john king spoke with undecided voters you all came in, maybe leaning, but undecided or persuadable how many of you show of hands will leave tonight, planning to support the vice president came in leaning that way pretty much right in the middle. >> okay. candidly, leaning. leaning. and now you're decided okay. now three of you have not so let me start with you first, joe, why? >> i think there are still first off, i certainly respect the vice president and the work that she is doing in her office
4:34 am
i think that there are still some at least for me, some personal policy differences i don't think that i still can't get behind her policies on abortion. that's just something that i i can't get behind because that's the right to life is so fundamental in this country that it becomes without that right being respected, it's incredibly difficult to talk about anything else. so i have a policy difference. a number of policy differences with her. that's the biggest one that comes to mind. >> but at the same time, i'm i'm still not sold on the former president either just because of his personality, his actions on january 6, just the way that sometimes he treats people that gets to be a little bit difficult for me to quick follow-up, sir everyone. >> so you don't you're not leaving here planning to vote for trump. you're leaving here still not knowing what to do. >> i came in here leaning in the direction of the former

all. i think people were looking for how are you going? you heard the one woman. how are you going to make my life better? that was a provided donald trump bad is not going to get you to the white house. i hate to break it took it is interesting though, john stewart and admittedly, this was before the cnn town hall what jon stewart did address this issue of whether harris is being held to a different standard here, let's listen ultimate problem, which is this is any of this trump says rielle how are we supposed to understand what and what isn't kamala harris? >> she's going to have an 80 page presentation on exactly how this opportunity economy is going to function. and how it's going to be paid for. meanwhile, the standard for trump is emotional vicinity yeah. >> i just say this. to jon stewart. did he forget the trump administration how trump governed? so i would say, look, the blueprint you want to see a
4:43 am
blueprint for the trump presidency how did people, what do they feel about the trump presidency that he ran? four years ago? people feel very good about every poll. retrospectively say they feel much better than they do about the biden-harris presidency. so if you're looking at the blueprint for who is going to have a better next four years, people overwhelmingly favor the trump presidency over the biden-harris administration. pretty clear. kendra well, i was just going to say a couple of things. >> one, trump walked in with an obama economy. he, he rode the coattails of the president who made the economy great before he walked in. so that's, that's point number one point number two is trump didn't even show up last night. i could not name a single policy that the former president stands for. all right. kamala harris did talk about her policies last night in a way that maybe could have been a little bit more crisp. but the fact is she talked about housing. she talked about the sandwich generation. she talked about the issues that voters do care about at the end of the day. i can't name a single policy that donald trump actually

stands for besides going out there and bashing everybody, including former four-star generals trump did do an event yesterday with a host of people including tucker carlson, david who talked a lot about spanking girls let's listen there has to be a point at which dad comes home. dad come know what he says you've been a bad girl. you've been a bad luck or around. you're getting a vigorous spanking right now the hell he's talking about right there, john, right i don't think it's i mean, i have no idea. i can't defend it anymore. he's talking about nothing. got nothing for you, but i will talk about last night and kamala harris is the poor debate performance isn't i think it was an unmitigated disaster for the point is, so you think they took across the saying that works at odds with

the message you'd rather see getting. listen, i'd rather see the message of donald trump had this past weekend, right where he's going doing the work at a mcdonald's like what's that? are a farmer i rather see any message isn't allies night. i like to see donald trump not connected with people that otrs down chops incredibly good one-on-one retail politics. people love him i think that works in barbershops talking to real people here and there concerns. i think that's very, you know, his best format. i don't think tucker carlson's the best spokesperson for donald trump. i think like donald trump speak for himself. >> very quick answer on that that i want to end on disgusting. >> it is absolutely horrible. i mean, donald trump has been accused of sexual assault multiple times before the fact that this is even being brought up as part of a campaign should hopefully turn off women voters across the country. it's awful. >> so finally, i just want to end on this wall street journal poll that came out overnight, which shows no clear leader in the race, but underlying it,

it's a reminder of the political environment that we're in less than two weeks before election day. the right track, wrong track number that we hear. okay? 64% of americans, 64% say the country is headed in the wrong direction, just 26% say the right direction. and those numbers are actually a little bit worse than august that's a really tough environment, kendra for an incumbent party to run in i mean, what does challenge? does that face pose for harris yeah. >> i mean, it is tough. right. and she's doing something that no one has ever done before, which is trying to run a presidential campaign in three months, donald trump has been running for eight years. and so i think what you're seeing is an incredibly tight race, which they've said all along, it's going to be an incredibly tight race. every vote is going to count, and that's why she's going out there and talking to every single voter in every single way that she can, which is including the town hall last night, which again, donald trump didn't even show up for
4:47 am
let's just be fair. >> it's a democratic party's fault that she's running a very tight race because they have the obs joe biden's condition for years and years and years. and then the last-minute had to substitute or in because they america knew that joe biden wasn't up to the job and rerunning and by the way, john, in that poll kamala harris is unfavorables have continued to soar. they are an all time high her unfavorables are higher than donald trump's trump is over 50%. >> but again, the right track, wrong track number there. it just realized what the environment is in this election. david urban candor, bark off. thank you both very much. sara. >> all right. miami dolphins quarterback tua tagovailoa returned to the practice field for the first time since suffering another concussion during last month's game against the buffalo bills. even though he's back on the field, he has yet to be clear to play in this sunday's game. cnn's andy scholes is here here andy the video of what happened to him last time was so disturbing he says he still wants to play.
4:48 am
do you think that's going to happen this sunday? >> yeah. sara. all signs point to to applying sunday against the cardinals and all his left now is for him to practice fully either today or tomorrow and then meet again with an independent neurological consultant to get that final clearance to return to play into a miss the team's past four games after suffering its third diagnose concussion and week two against the bills but here's what to had to say about his return earlier this week do i want to be known for this no, i don't but that's that's the cars i've been dealt with given the history of it, so it is what it is. i appreciate your concern. i really do i love this game and i love it to the death of me that's it the death of me. >> miami went one and three without too on the field, dolphins wide receiver tyreek hill said he was so happy that tool was back running the offense. it almost made him cry. now in college football, nc state quarterback grace and

in a battleground state, which immediately raised the eyebrows of many of the legal experts that we're speaking to. and those concerns seemed to be founded because this was followed up with a letter from the justice department. and as you mentioned there, kate, they've been announcing a winter every day. you can see the footage here of some of the previous winners they launched this sweepstakes on saturday. there was a winner announced every single day until yesterday we and other outlets reported yesterday that this doj letter has been sent and when wednesday yesterday came and went with no announced winner? no, i'm not saying that they necessarily have shut down the sweepstakes. maybe they just got bored or got busy. they have not answered our requests for comment to explain what's going on, but i can tell you that cnn and others reporting what did yesterday that this warning had been sent from federal law enforcement. and then the daily prize went without a winner for
