las vegas, where the vice president is waking up in vegas this morning after both campaigns headed out to the silver state last night. in this final push before election day. good morning, everyone. i'm kasie hunt. it's wonderful to have you with us on this last friday before the election and the fight for female voters continues to be the absolute epicenter of the final days of this campaign kamala harris, seizing on this comment from donald trump about four weeks ago, i was saying, no, i want to protect the people. >> i want to protect the women of our country. i want to protect the women. sir please don't say that. why? they said we think it's. >> we think it's very inappropriate for you to say so why? i'm president. i want to protect the women of our country well, i'm going to do it whether the women like it or not. i'm going to protect them harris calling the remark offensive and tying it to women's reproductive rights, arguing trump doesn't understand a woman's ability to make decisions specifically about their own bodies. >> she capped off a swing

women have cast 55% of votes, while men have cast 45%. that 10% margin represents about shying away from women's issues also in nevada, trump said he would tap this controversial figure to spearhead women's health the greatest robert f. >> kennedy jr.. we have health and women's health and all of the different reasons, because we're not really a wealthy or a wealthy country all right. joining us now, dc correspondent for the nevada independent, gaby berenbaum and white house correspondent for bloomberg news kayla gardner, welcome to both of you. thanks so much for being here. just a handful of days out from the election gaby, obviously, nevada at the center of this. it's a state you focused a lot on they really wanted to put this women message to women front and center in part to move off of some of the things
2:05 am
that obviously joe biden had talked about garbage. this was an opportunity they thought the harris campaign to move off of that, to underscore to women what they think a trump administration would mean, what do you make of of how their messaging around this here in the final days? >> yeah, i mean, i think nevada is one of the states that's the exception to early voting trends so far, and that it's one state where you see about even rates between men and women. and so when you look at the voter file data, it's younger women and women of color who have not yet come out to early vote. and that's, i think exactly who with rallies like that, democrats are trying to reach to say, turn in your mail ballot, come vote on this last day of early voting make sure you get out there. and i think you know, it's a it's a strong message. if abortion is really, really popular in nevada in 1990, it was on the ballot by referendum. it won with about two thirds of the vote. it's on the ballot again this year to put it in the state constitution. and i think a closing message of your health should be between you and your doctor and not, you know, a man with a brain worm is probably a good a good way to get people out. >> so between you and your doctor, not you and a man with a brain worm, that is, that is quite the evocative way to put
2:06 am
it, kayla. and this is how the harris team responded on x the platform formerly known as twitter when trump announced that he wanted to put rfk jr. in charge of women's health, the word no and a heart emoji this obviously rfk a controversial figure for many reasons but again, women's health. >> yeah, well, the harris campaign is really in rapid response mode. we saw harris yesterday really start off the day addressing those comments from trump, where he said he would protect women whether they like it or not, specifically talking about migrant crimes. so this is really the mode that they're in, right now. they're trying to draw a contrast with themselves and donald trump and the harris campaign is really encouraged by those numbers of female voters. that 55% of early voters are women. and we know from polling that women are overwhelmingly breaking for harris polls right now really show the gender gap, potentially the starkest, really, in modern history. so
2:07 am
they're really encouraged by these numbers, right now. of course, early voting doesn't always give the full picture. or has the tea leaves here, but right now it sounds like they're confident at this moment. >> the other piece of this, gaby, is that the billionaire mark cuban, who has been supporting harris's campaign, was on the view, and he basically said that trump does not surround himself with, you know strong, intelligent women. trump wrote back, calling mark cuban quote, a really dumb guy who thinks he's hot stuff, but he's absolutely nothing. now out saying, i don't surround myself with strong women. actually he's very wrong. i surround myself with the strongest of women with the understanding that all women are great. i mean, it's clear the trump campaign also understands that they have a problem with women voters.s. thy seem to be trying to make up for it by appealing to young men to try to get them out but still trying to seize on this moment. >> yeah, i think that, you know, first of all, that's vintage trump, right? with that criticism of cuban. but yeah, i mean, i think you've seen his strategy throughout going on
2:08 am
all these podcasts that have predominantly young male listeners both him and jd vance doing joe rogan in the closing days here. i think you're really starting to see that. they hope that young men are not only going to break for them, but turn out that's you know, a low propensity voter demographic typically. and so they're hoping that that's a group that will come through for them on election day, because as kayla said, the numbers with women are looking pretty positive for harris. >> well, and kayla, the question that many some women keep raising on the campaign trail, i'm thinking of elissa slotkin, who's running for senate in michigan, liz cheney, who's been campaigning for harris, is this idea that there is a secret vote of women, right, who are not willing to say to their husbands, to their families that they're going to go and vote for harris? there was an exchange between charlie kirk, or i should say, both charlie cook and kirk and jesse watters, who's a fox news host out there talking about this potential phenomenon. let's watch what each of them had to say it is the embodiment of the downfall of the american family she's coming in with her sweet husband who probably works his

tail off to make sure that she can go, you know, and have a nice life and provide for the family. >> and then she lies to him saying, oh yeah, i'm going to vote for trump. and then she votes for kamala harris as her little secret in the voting booth. >> and if i found out emma was going into the voting booth and pulling the lever for harris, that's the same thing as having an affair that violates the sanctity of our marriage yes. what else is she keeping from me, exactly? what else has she been lying about? >> why would there's a lot there? >> basically i'd love to find out what his wife actually thinks there. but this is also the kind of framing that the harris team seizes on to kind of try to say to women, these people don't take you seriously. >> yeah. i mean, former first lady michelle obama made this argument pretty explicitly when she campaigned with harris, telling women, your vote is secret and private to you and i think we've seen harris really appeal to republican women. she's even talked about having conversations with liz cheney
2:10 am
about abortion, someone who is staunchly pro-life and saying she did not intend for some of the consequences that we're seeing, particularly in the south, where women are not able to seek emergency care. and we've seen the harris campaign really have these ads of heartbreaking stories of people who needed this emergency care and weren't able to have it in some cases, those women dying very sad. >> all right. gaby berenbaum, michael gardner, thanks for starting us off on this last friday before election day. i really appreciate it. all right. still ahead here on cnn this morning, battleground michigan, both campaigns making a final play for the wolverine state. we're going to talk to congresswoman debbie kamala harris needs to win there. plus, china's perspective how people there see the upcoming election as chinese hackers target senior officials in both parties. and the latino vote, vice president kamala harris with another superstar celebrity endorsement as she tries to shore up another part of her coalition it wasn't just puerto ricans that were offended that day, okay? >> it was every latino in this country. it was humanity and

likely to vote remember, we talked a lot about during the obama years like, here are the young people that are finally going to vote no, they don't vote. and the one group that votes the least young men, that's the people that trump are trying to get out. if he gets them, he could win the election. but it's hard to get him off the couch. it sure is. all right, nick johnston, thanks very much. really appreciate it. all right speaking of young men trying to appeal to male voters, the trump campaign continues to make the rounds on several podcasts that are popular with men. jd vance appearing on joe rogan's podcast after trump did an interview with rogan just last week. vance's episode aired yesterday, trump's running mate telling rogan he believes the trump campaign will get this group's vote. >> i wouldn't be surprised if me and trump won just the normal gay guy vote because again they just wanted to be left the hell alone. and now you have all this crazy stuff on top of it all right. >> joining us now cnn's chief media analyst brian stelter brian, good morning. wonderful to have you just four days out here. let's talk about the media strategy for each of
2:37 am
these campaigns. it's kind of exemplified by the the joe rogan experience yes, it is trump and vance both on rogan in the span of a week. >> the harris campaign says it has the way but i would be surprised by it at this point in the race. normally you know, casey, we've seen this before. we've seen this twice with trump. we know what trump normally does in the closing days. he normally uses fox as the cornerstone of his get out the vote effort. he was on with sean hannity on tuesday. i think he'll be back on fox this weekend. he was also on stage last night in arizona with tucker carlson. and those clips are going viral and in some cases today for very ugly reasons kamala harris another way, on the other hand she kind of has more buttons to press more different levers to pull. she's calling into black and latino radio hosts shows, talking to those audiences, you know, on morning radio she's doing local television this week, pulling sides with national reporters. it seems to me harris has more people to help her. what i mean by that are all the people endorsing her. you know, jennifer lopez
2:38 am
last night, lebron james last night. it kind of reminds me of trump's old slogan, i alone can fix it. or as for harris, she has a lot of people helping her, or one of her slogans is when we vote, we win. it seems like she has a lot more amplifiers right now. in the closing days to help her out, but of course, the democrats always have that celebrity advantage right? >> right. well, and i mean candidly, hillary clinton had a similar celebrity advantage in 2016. and it does not. it doesn't necessarily move the needle in fact, sometimes you'll find republicans motivated by this idea that the establishment is trying to tell them what to do. but, brian, i want to i want to show you something that that unfolded last night that you referenced tucker carlson and this event that he and trump had together, and the way the press and now talking more about the establishment media, the news media, as opposed to kind of these podcasts and other, other ways to go about reaching voters. the conversation was quite frankly, really interesting, and i'm really interested to know your take watch hopefully we'll get a

fair press eventually because that's a very important element. >> you need a fair press. i've exposed them for being a total fraud. they're a fraud. >> but hopefully they won't be a fraud for long. the press, a free press, a real press is a very important part of greatness, of making a country great. they're like. they're almost like uh, the glue that keeps it together. but they're also like, in a way, a police force that keeps it honest but they're so dishonest that they have no credibility what's your reaction to that? i hear some euphemisms there, casey, when he says fair what he means is fair to me. we've studied trump long enough to know that what he wants is a press corps that will roll over for him. he's he's now, though, using really friendly language right press but the evidence suggests anything but yesterday his legal team sued cbs news alleging $10 million in damages over that 60 minutes episode last month, with harris we
2:40 am
spoke with first amendment experts overnight who say this case is outrageous. it's meritless it's not going to go anywhere. it's just designed to get publicity, as trump tends to do. so i would suggest we look at his actions more than his words when it comes to the press suing cbs, not exactly the actions of someone who wants a fair press in the united states. >> yeah, no, it's an important point. all right. brian stelter, for us, this morning, sir. always grateful to have you we've got some intense days ahead. so hope to see you again soon. >> all right. after the break here on cnn this morning, protecting poll workers after violent protests in 2020. the new security measures now in place. congresswoman debbie dingell joins us next in our catch of the year. the jets break a five game losing streak with an incredible one handed touchdown. >> that's next in the bleacher report wilson can he one handed it

williams went all out. look at the joker costume. very nice for thursday night football. fully committed and his teammate garrett wilson should have dressed up like a wizard with his catch early in the fourth quarter. stop what you're doing real quick if you can and just watch this. so down by three on aaron rodgers chucked one up and wilson somehow hauled this in with one hand in the back of the end zone. this was originally ruled an incompletion, but after further review he did get his left foot and left shin down inside the end zone. so that put the jets up 1410. they would go on to win 2113, and afterwards wilson and rodgers talked about what is being called one of the nfl's greatest catches of all time this is trying to make a play i'm glad i was able to, man. >> i'm glad they overturned it all that. >> but, uh yeah that's that's all man. just trying to make a play and and find a way to, you know, score some points. i was looking at the weak side safety and i was like, if he drops down at all, i'm just going to say, screw it. i'm gonna throw it up to g. i feel like i put it in a decent spot, but yeah,
