most americans might find face time with the president of the united states just a little intimidating. not tonight's newsmaker, a small business owner who challenged president obama on his health care plan at a town hall in north carolina. take a look. >> my name is patty. i own a company called mmi public relations. i have 20 employees and i provide health care benefits for them and so i wouldn't blow it i have written down my question. what current long-term social program created and run by the government should we look to as a model of success? >> just in the health care arena i point to two areas.
8:14 pm
medicare and the va are both government-run health care programs that have high satisfaction rates. >> not satisfied she pressed the president again. did she get her answer? patty joins us tonight. here with me on a reality check with the health care proposals chief business correspondent ali velshi. you spoke very directly to the president. what are you most worried about when it comes to health care reform? >> what i asked the president was my concern about my taxes going up and he assured me that any tax credits that i receive would offset any increase in my income taxes. that is when we started -- i said i expect you to hold true. we were laughing and it was great. i didn't get to do the follow up which said how will the tax
8:15 pm
credits affect me when i'm a subchapter s. i'm not an accountant, but there are millions of small businesses that are llcs and subchapter s. the tax revenue flows to us as individuals. how will a tax credit apply to an individual. if you are a c corp i understand that. >> let's turn to ali velshi. she has a p.r. firm 20 employees. she doesn't provide the health care. she gives them an allowance and they buy it. would she do better or worse under this plan and tax credit implications versus tax increases. >> patty is right to be concerned about this. if she hits 25 employees under one of the proposals she would be compelled to buy group
8:16 pm
insurance. now it is cheaper to reimburse her employees for individual health policies. many small businesses are llcs or s corporations where the income is personal income. if the government is going to offer a tax credit to offset the money patty has to pay to cover her employees they have to make sure different kinds of small businesses are able to claim that tax credit there are a lot of studies that say the cost of doing what the government wants to do versus patty having group insurance for her people will be lower. patty is not having group insurance. she is subsidizing personal policies. >> at this point would she do better or worse? >> it is hard to say. there would be savings of $850 per employee. >> is your gross payroll under $500,000? i have no clue. my operations manager could tell
8:17 pm
you that. here is what is disturbing. because i give my employees an allowance, all but two of them i pay 100% of their health benefits because it is less expensive to get an individual policy. why is the government using the "m" word. man dating i have to do that. why don't they build a program so good small business wants to join it instead of mandating it. >> in the current proposal with the house negotiated with the blue dogs, she is not mandating. >> she has 20 employees now, you hope that business grows at a good rate. she the going to hit 25 employees or under $500,000 on her payroll she is going to hit that. you don't want to discourage businesses from growing to get hit by taxes. insurance gets cheaper as you have a larger risk pool. our company pays less per person
8:18 pm
for insurance than patty would. unless that pool is big you can't get cheap insurance. that is why people are pushing the mandate. >> you believe the president is sincere and passionate but feel he is leaving too much in the hands of congress. what would you like to see him do? >> i was so impressed by the president. i did not vote for him but i came away from that meeting believing he cared passionately about this. my concern is instead of him walking down to congress and working with them, he is allowing congress to put this together and what my biggest fear is we are going to end up with something like tsa if we try to put it together in a month. tsa has a big bloated program that slows you down at the airport, makes you strip down and walking barefoot to get through the metal detectors. i don't want that. we need to take a reasoned approach to this. i i think small business needs to be at the table.
8:19 pm
>> she is concerned that small business wasn't at the table enough even though she attended the health care forum in june. she was sitting way in the back of the room. has small business had the same seat at the table that big business has? >> no. small businesses are the engine of job growth. we need them to create jobs. they have different interests. it is not the same as big business. the representation with government has been less than big business. that is a concern. patty's business is run differently than a lot of other small businesses. they don't have one concern, they don't share one view. they need to not be overly taxed so they can create jobs. >> you saw the beer summit. you would like the president to invite you over for a class of pino grigio and talk over small businesses? >> yes, i do. i think he needs to hear from

concerns. so, yes, i would love to have a glass of wine with the president. >> patty, thanks for joining us. ali, thank you for bringing your expertise. have the second 100 days of the obama administration been days of change or days of frustration? cast your vote at cnn.com/reportcard. get the results thursday 8:00 eastern. a developing story in washington state. explosives, lots of explosives are missing. my doctor said the bayer aspirin saved my life. please talk to your doctor about aspirin and your heart. i'm going to be grandma for a long time. sfx: chear that?can shaking that's the sound of people saving. saving money, saving time, and saving for the future. regions makes it simple - starting with lifegreen checking and savings - featuring free convenient e-services,

multiple aliases to help score drugs for michael jackson the latest bizarre twist in the investigation. randy kay is in los angeles along with "inside edition" correspondent jim moret and hooray rodriguez a board certified internist.
8:41 pm
dr. rodriguez, you heard randy kay report police believe 19 aliases were being used to procure prescription drugs for michael jackson. what do you make of that? >> that doesn't surprise me. the scope of 19 names is astounding. it is not unusual for a physician who is doing this to have many aliases of people they know so they don't trip up when they reorder the medications. i wouldn't be surprised if each alias had a specific medication assigned to it. that way you don't raise the suspicion of a pharmacist. >> the pantheon of medication in the law where does that fall? >> it is extremely illegal. not only is it malpractice, it is forgery. it is most definitely going to be federal offenses because of the drugs that were probably being used, narcotics are
8:42 pm
regulated by the federal government. this is a whole can of pain that is being opened here. >> randy kay, the search warrant that was executed on dr. conrad murray's home and office in las vegas say probably cause for manslaughter but there were a number of other possible charges. can you run them down for us? >> reporter: right. john, they were looking for evidence of manslaughter, evidence of excessive prescribing, they were looking for evidence of prescribing to an addict, prescribing to and treating an addict and unprofessional conduct. we don't know if they found all that evidence but that is what they were looking for. >> jim moret, officials knew michael jackson was getting prescription drugs under aliases. why was nothing done then? >> at that time the prosecutor was looking at one thing only, allegations of molestation.
8:43 pm
they found prescription drugs and aliases and doctors. none of that was admissible in the case of molestation. they could have gone forward with the drug case but chose not to. >> dr. rodriguez, let's go back to the search warrant that was executed. one of the allegations, prescribing to an addict. what are the laws about that for doctors? >> the laws are if you know a patient you have is addicted to medication you are complicit in worsening that addiction if you prescribe that medication. you could lose your license and be up for criminal charges especially federal government charges in the drug enforcement agency. >> that could be a criminal charge? >> correct. you could be contributing to someone's demise, someone's death by worsening that addiction and giving them medications that will eventually kill them. >> we have been waiting for five

weeks for the toxicology report. randy kay we learn the toxicology, the autopsy results at least from the county coroner's office have been delayed indefinitely. what are your sources telling you as to why? >> i spoke with a source with excellent knowledge of the autopsy and investigation and from what i understand there was a meeting between the los angeles police department, the district attorney's office and the coroner's office and this was a joint decision they wanted to put this off. they don't know when they are going to release the results. they have put it off indefinitely because they need time. they are gathering records, information, michael jackson's files from doctors. investigators paid a visit to a plastic surgeon in beverly hills to pick up more of his records. clearly the work isn't finished. >> do you think the delay is the

result of this investigation into diprivan? >> it could be. they could be having difficulty discerning if the diprivan was the only medication killed michael jackson. there is no rush. in the anna nicole case charges weren't filed until more than a year later. >> jim moret, dr. rodriguez, randy kay, thank you very much. jim, stick around. you are hosting "larry king live." more on the michael jackson case. have the paparazzi finally gone too far? what led to a break in and arrest and who was arrested all in the flame of getting a scoop.
