it helps you be awake. >> i'm sure the makers of adderall would disagree. how do you get the prescription if you don't have narcolepsy. how did you get this? >> i wrote a blog post about it. so many people have asked me. what you do is you go to your doctor and you say here are the symptoms i have. if you have the right symptoms, if you have sleep disorder which if you fly around a lot or required to stay up late on occasion, you may have a few. >> dave, that's all of us. i am in different time zones all the time and i fly around, but i don't think my doctor will give me a prescription for provigil. a lot of people do that. i run into the same people on the airplane all the time. >> have you asked your doctor? >> no, i have not. >> he probably would. >> but i will. as a matter of fact i take that back. we were going to do this story a

either. i got off the drug and expected things to get better, but the side effects got extreme. >> what are did your doctor say? >> doctor said there is nothing we can do for you. give it more time. i gave it six months and went back to the doctor. i was worse than ever. he said there was nothing i can do for you. i have been on testosterone for a couple of months and that only had moderate improvements. >> to you now, kevin said it got worse after quitting the drug. that was almost a year ago. is that common? >> that is not common from these drugs. these two cases, i think they are both having similarities, but also differences. in both these scenarios we have people taking drugs to enhance performance in some capacity or to essentially fight nature. the difference is he is using this drug in a way that is not the intended use. he is a guinea pig because we do

educated decisions based on the information. >> doctors who do it legal, is it moral? should we look more into what they are doing what they are supposed to do? >> right. i think there two sides to this. from a patient's standpoint, patients should have that right to make their own health decisions. we as physicians should help educate to help them get there. however these are federally controlled substances. in the case of provigil, this is a controlled substance with a habit-forming potential. when you are having a physician prescribe it, you are pulling in ethical considerations as well as legal considerations. it wasn't long ago that michael jackson's physician was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. where is that fine line between what is okay and ethical and what is truly causing harm? >> thank you very much. i should tell you kevin made this his mission. he is part of a class action
