their homes. >> emergency responders in other places wading in waist deep muddy rivers. a lot of residents saved, including a 5-week-old baby. that's a lucky kid. as the floodwaters recede in some areas, the damage is evident. we have a close look at nashville after the deluge. >> this is where the flooding was pretty bad down here. you can tell right there that got moved all the way from across the street. everything around here looks horrible right now. so, this is just part of the flooding this morning that happened. yeah, this is pretty bad around here. >> what a mess. in missouri, upwards of ten inches of rain fell flooding the streets leaving a lot of people

stranded. this water rescue happened south of springfield. the floods left at least one woman dead. a creek overflowed washing away her car. in waynesville, authorities continue their search for the body of a young mother. she's presumed drown after a flash flood hit the area. she was in the car with her 4-year-old when the river began to rise. his body was found tuesday. the town received three plus inches of rain on thursday. >> obviously a lot of weather out there. a lot to talk about. indra petersons is talking about it. >> one foot of water makes you weigh 1500 pounds less. don't walk through, especially a car, an average of 3,000 pounds, two feet of water is going to sweep it away.

it's important. turn around, don't drown. look at the rain, bran son, eight inches of rain. madison, tennessee, seven inches per hour. that's causing flooding. in addition to that, we are talking day after day of rain just like this. here we go again. this is the current radar. the last six hour loop, oklahoma city seeing heavy rain and arkansas. not as much in missouri. still rain in the forecast especially the southern portions of missouri. what's going on? notice where it's blue, it's the cold front. notice how quickly the rain moves through the northeast. the stalled front does that. it stays here. look at the flooding potential again over the next several days. we talk about where it went faster. you can still have heavy rates per hour. new england, two to four inches. maybe one to three inches for

d.c. and new york. we'll talk the southern portion. it's where we're looking for a threat of flash flooding. then it's day after day of rain and heavy rain. >> look at that stalled right over nashville, right over tennessee where they don't need it. >> all over again. >> thanks so much. another weather story to tell you about. riverside county, california, the silver fire is the fastest burning wildfire they have ever seen. hundreds of people have been evacuated near palm springs. crews are attacking from all angles. so far, this fire burned 14,000 acres, more than two dozen homes destroyed. the fire 20% contained. >> we are seeing fire behavior we haven't seen in a long time. the fields are so dry. add a little bit of wind to that and it makes it a challenge to catch or keep up with the fire. >> 500 personnel are battling the blaze.

five firefighters have been injured. officials expect it will be a couple days before they can get the smoke and flames under control. >> the u.s. consulate in pakistan is being evacuated after a specific terror threat. the state department says only emergency personnel will stay behind in pakistan's largest city. no details have been revealed. it was a threat worthy of taking this action. u.s. citizens are warned not to travel to pakistan. >> embassies in the middle east and africa are still empty. three u.s. drone strikes left 13 people dead in yemen. seven believed to be al qaeda fighters. security officials in yemen tell cnn u.s. drone strikes killed at least 34 people in the last two weeks. a lot of activity there. north korea stepping up their nuclear program? new satellite imagery suggests the country is increasing their

uranium enrichment efforts, doubling the size for processing nuclear material as well. the king jong-un government said they were restarting their work at the previously moth balled facility. >> morsi says he will be back making the claim at a surprise appearance in a pro-morsi rally. this is the first time his wife has been seen in public since he was released from power. morsi's children joined their mother calling on the military to release their father of military arrest. secretary of state john kerry and chuck hagel will meet with their russian counter parts. president obama decided not to meet with putin in moscow next month. today's meeting will likely include a discussion of granting temporary asylum to edward

13 minutes past the hour. the trial of army major hassan is back on. a judge ruling the ft. hood suspect can continue representing himself while ordering his legal team to stay on as advisers as well. the attorneys caused a delay asking the judge to remove them from the case. they believe the defendant is trying to secure a death sentence. two friends of tsarnaev stand accused of making off with a laptop and backpack from the room after he told them to take what is there. they face charges and could spend up to 25 years in prison

if convicted. a man who plotted to blow up the federal reserve building in new york with a 9,000 pound bomb. the 24-year-old blames his radicalization on a childhood stammering problem and a cheating girlfriend. he claims to now love america insisting he rejected radical islam. to texas and a shooting spree in dallas that left four dead. the funman was a 44-year-old special education teacher and former member of a hip hop dance troop that performs at dallas mavericks games. the women he killed were his e stranged wife, his girlfriend. he shot four people, killing two and went to desoto, texas threw a bomb and shot four more people, killing two others. some of the victims are children. he is now in custody.

police say he has been difficult to interview so far. charges for two canadian men in connection with a tragic sexual assault and a bullying case. the 17-year-old died in april after attempting suicide. she had been raped by four boys in 2011 and pictures of her were shared online. the two 18-year-old men who have not been identified are charged with making and distributing child pornography. the seemingly never ending michael jackson wrongful death trial may go on longer. she doesn't expect them to begin deliberations until late september. it's five months after they started. one juror moved and replaced with an august. the judge said august is a day to finish. they claim aeg was responsible for michael jackson's death. a hearing for singer usher

and their ex-wife after their son nearly drown in a swimming pool. the ex-wife claims he's too busy to take care of his children leaving them with others. she claims it was a lack of supervision leading to the accident. he was awarded full custody after a bitter custody dispute. it did not take long for a winner of the power ball jackpot to come forward. he's much, much richer and incredibly cool. what he plans to do with the millions. >> reporter: winning the lottery is every person's dream. for paul white of minnesota, that dream became a reality. he's the first of three winning ticketholders to claim his share of the $448 million power ball jackpot. >> i have gone through this in my head so many times in my life, you almost feel like it's finally coming true.

over the past six weeks. now there's this word happening on wall street that people are talking about. i love it. it's scaring investors away. we have operation twist, fiscal cliff, tarp and now septape rerks, i love it. they think the federal reserve is going to taper back the stimulus program so investors are pulling out of stocks this week. a double dose of housing news. house prices are rising. the national association of realtors say prices rose last quarter. the increases are huge. prices in sacramento are up. same for atlanta. 30% increases in florida and nevada. these are some of the cities that have the biggest housing bust. still, prices are up because more people have jobs and there are fewer homes on the market for sale. a second report shows mortgage

leaving cars and trucks frozen in place. more than seven inches of rain tell in davidson county in six hours. >> firefighters in that city had to rescue dozens of people. look at this picture, folks. they were trapped inside by the rising waters. this is one of the most dramatic rescues. they brought a 5-week-old baby to safety. >> this is arkansas i'm about to show you. that is a golf course, if you can believe it, under water after some ten inches of rain fell. it happened in the northwest part of the state. more than three dozen roads and bridges had to be closed. look how fast and fur rouse this is. serious stuff. >> normally a thunderstorm, a boom here and a boom there. this was boom after boom after boom. fearful booms. the kind that make you go -- >> in missouri, authorities continue their search for a

23-year-old mother swept away in a car with her 4-year-old son. this is in waynesville. they were caught up in a flash flood tuesday. his body has been found. the car was also found. his mother, presumed to have drown. >> here they come. >> that's the sound of joy in hollister, missouri. a family is rescued from the rising waters there. that's nice to see. upwards of six inches of rain fell in that part of the state. a woman was killed not far away when a creek washed over the highway and swept her car away. >> it seems to happen so fast. indra petersons is here tracking the weather. >> we are dealing with the stationary front which means, it is stationary, it is in place, it is not going anywhere. let's talk about the rain totals we have seen. this is the last 36 hours. day after day of rain like this.

branson, missouri eight inches. madison, 7.3 inches. the rain totals themselves, how fast the rain is coming down. rainfall rates of two inches per hour on grounds that are already completely saturated. we showed you that. it was 36 hours. take a look this morning. oklahoma, arkansas, southern portions of missouri looking for more rain in the area. what i want you to watch, though, is the difference. this is the stationary front. the southern portion. keep your eye on the area that is blue. it's the cold front that is going to kick through faster. the northeast, the system will move quickly through the overnight hours. that's good news. saturday no longer looking for rain. we have to get through the heavy rainfall, first. it stays stationary here. there you go in the northeast. heavy rain. we could see heavy rainfall rates. two to four inches possible. the back end of this, one to two inches in d.c. and new york.

staying as we head into the weekend. with that, more flooding, obviously. there's no room for this rain to go anywhere. >> what a mess. thanks a lot. 33 minutes past the hour. police in miami say derek told them he shot his wife to death, then apparently posted a picture of her dead body on facebook. we want to warn you, this picture is graphic. we have blurred the image of jennifer's body. she's collapsed there on the floor. he told his facebook friends they will hear about him in the news. wsvn spoke with his father. >> he just said that his wife picked up a knife on him. they had a big fight and he shot her. >> your son came to your house? >> he said i need to go to the police. i need to turn myself in. >> he also posted a message on facebook saying his wife was punching him and he wasn't going

to stand anymore abuse. police found the 10-year-old daughter. she was unharmed. all that time, she was at the scene. >> that's shocking. the search continues this morning for a san diego area man suspected of killing a friend and kidnapping their daughter. james dimaggio has been on the run since sunday. no word if the child burned was the woman's 8-year-old son. her 16-year-old daughter, hannah is missing. her grandparents say they want hannah home. >> this is our hannah as we last saw her. this is how hannah is going to be when we see her again, soon. >> how is the family holding up? >> we are very -- >> good. >> very deeply committed family. we are very strong. we know we'll get through this. >> authorities are warning

dimaggio may have explosives in the car. they are looking for this man and 16-year-old hannah. there's no verdict in the racketeering trial of boston mob boss james whitey bulger. bulger stands accused of playing a role in 19 killings, extortion, money laundering. if convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in jail. to florida with a family is in mourning after their son was tasered by police and died. here is the report. >> reporter: they left columbia six years ago hoping to live in a country they consider safer than theirs. now, one of their loved ones is dead and the family is asking for justice. >> translator: i find strength

went beyond the point. i don't know exactly what happened. if he died tharks obviously went off the point. >> a friend says he was watching from a distance on the night of the incident. he says he describes the scene after his friend was caught. >> they were congratulating and clapping over his body, giving high fives and laughing. it's like they were proud of what they did. >> reporter: we contacted the police for comment but have not heard back yet. miami beach police chief told the miami herald when the officers cornered hernandez, the teen ran at them. the officers were forced to use the taser to avoid a physical incident. this is an open and ongoing investigation. the city of miami beach would like to extend their condolences to the family of israel hernandez. 38 minutes past the hour.
