of al qaeda and she was a close associate of osama bin laden but said in 1996 he left al qaeda at the time. she says he returned to his country, libya, in 2011 to take part in the revolution to oust moammar gadhafi. she said she has not been involved in any terror activities and she said her husband was here to be a part of it. we heard this from u.s. officials, intelligence officials that she returned to libby to establish an organization in libya and africa. >> if this is correct. she believes it's libyans who look like lib yafrns who captured her husband. not americans?

>> she said when he had -- he was coming back from morning players saturday long at 6:30 and 7:00. she heard noise and commotion outside. she described the men she saw were libyans. she said the unmasked men were libyans and heard libyan dialect. until that u.s. announcement was made later on in the day. she said she believed this was some sort of criminal activity. some sort of revenge. she did not think americans were involved. this is something that we're only hearing from the wife. only hearing from the family. there's been into indication so far that libyans were leaving this way or even involved in it at this point. >> all right. thank you very much for your reporting. there's still lots of questions about what exactly happened in

libya. i want to bring on barbara starr. how is it explained that libyans worked in convention with the forces to get al libi? >> no pentagon officials are talking about this publicly. this was u.s. administration that told us it was u.s. delta force that conducted the raid. the pentagon officially isn't saying a word about any of this. administration officials we're talking to are making it very clear. it was a mission led, conducted by u.s. specs operations forces. there may have been a translator along with them. they often operate that way but don't do joint operation. there is absolutely no indication there was any kind of joint operation with libyan forces. i guess you have to think of it with way. if the u.s. commando was on the

street with his face uncovered in tripoli in the middle of an operation, i think there's a fairly good chance that u.s. troop has some sort of disguise, wig, makeup, something to disguise his normal features. these guys don't show their face in public in the middle of an operation. don. >> we have a lot of questions today. some can be answered today. al libi is in connection with the bombings in africa. >> i think my colleagues would tell you that there's a lot of thought out there that al libi may have gone into semi retirement. make he was in libya to start an al qaeda operation but sort of moved away the last 15 years from some of his potential activities. the u.s. believes very strongly

franchitti was jumped during the race. you see it there. we know fans were hurt. mark, do you know how bad the injuries are to franchitti or the fans? >> we know from chip ganassi that the injuries to the driver, franchitti aren't known. the extent is not at serious as we might think. he told nbc sport that he spoke to his driver. he said franchitti is talking. his ankle a lit sore, his back a little sore. he's going to tack a trip to the hospital but he is okay. this from chip ganassi the owner of the racing team. that car went into the catch fencing. the fire department said they took 13 spectators to the hospital. two taken with injuries that
