didn't expect it to be white, did you? all right, pick a hand. good night. >> from comedy central's world news headquarters in new york, this is "the daily show" with trevor noah. ( cheers and applause ) ♪ >> trevor: welcome to "the daily show"! i'm trevor noah! thank you so much for tuning in! my guest tonight is an amazing man leading the naacp in north carolina reverend william barber is joining us, everybody! ( cheers and applause ) really excited to have a conversation with him. first, this weekend, 70 people killed and 50 injured in a terrorist attack that took place in london.

most leaders sent their con doll lenses through shame. >> the president of the united states in an open fight in the public air waves and on twitter with the mayor of london sadiq khan, the mayor quoted 70 dead and 40 wounded in terror attack and the mayor of london said there was no reason to be alarmed. that prompted a spokesman for the mayor to say he has more to do than to respond to donald trump's tweets taken out of context when he was urging londoners not to be alarmed when they saw more police on the throats. the president took that as a slap on the face and said pathetic excuse for mayor sadiq khan who had to think fast on his feet. >> trevor: just after an attack on london he (bleep) on the mayor of london. he would be the worst person to visit you in the hospital.

what's crazy, he had no real reason to do it. he gave reasons but they were all bull (bleep). >> the president claiming the paris accord would cost the u.s. $3 trillion in lost economic activity and 6.5 million industrial jobs, but experts say that study has been widely deburvegd for making incorrect assumptions about america's role in the agreement. >> it is estimated it would only produce a two-tenths of one degree -- think of that, this much -- celsius reduction in global temperature -- >> trevor: actually, you know what? the president is right. it's a tiny difference in temperature. tiny, tiny difference, but even something tiny can make all the difference in the world. for instance, a tiny change in dna can be the difference between ivanka and eric. ( laughter ) tiny difference!
11:05 pm
( applause ) and, as it turns out, president trump isn't even right about the tiny difference because the actual increase in temperature could be three to five times as much as what trump is saying. it could more like 1 degree celsius which is 150 degrees fahrenheit. you can't prove that's not true because you don't use real numbers in this country. ( laughter ) joking aside, i know 1 degree still sounds insignificant, but as i always say, ladies, it's not about the size of the boat, it's about the motion of the rising ocean. >> that may sound small, but tiny temperature changes could make a big difference for island nations and coastal communities. it could be the difference between surviving or being underwater. >> trevor: you see, what you need to understand is small things can have big consequences. it's like putting one turd in a swimming pool. ( applause ) now, donald trump may have pulled the united states out of the paris climate agreement, but it turns out that when it comes to climate change, the states are not exactly united. >> at least ten states led by democratic governors are defying the president's decision. >> they're joined by more than 150 mayors pledging to uphold the paris agreement. >> california is launching its loan global coalition with canada and mexico and virginia set new standards for power plant emissions. >> trevor: california is like, hey, mexico, you want to roll? we're just doing our own thing, man. ( laughter ) so as much as the u.s. pulling out of the paris climate accord seems like a big setback, there is hope. states and cities will still honor paris, so will many major american corporations including several oil giants. and what's more, now that america has stepped out of the paris accord, the rest of the world may be able to reduce carbon emissions more the way they want to do it, because when paris was designed, it had to accommodate america's relatively pro carbon political reality, but that's no longer a factor. it's like the world came together to design a bathing
