(applause) kicking ass in her new film. and speaking of white women who kick ass, beyonce. >> outrage growing over mad oom teu sad's shall tussaud statue.

>>er fans are going off, pean believe it to be too light skinned and didn't even look lie beyons. the museum tells us we have adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure. the fans are still unimpressed say it is plain crazy to say this looks anything like the real singer. >> trevor: this is why diversity in the workplace matters. a black person with have never let that fly, never. now people at mad am tussaud will be looking for kayne west after every corn he they walk by, is he here. they need a help line that white folk can call before they make these mistakes. just call and be like you've reached black checker kiki speaking, no, miley, you still can't twerk, baby, bye bye now, bye bye. (applause) what was mad am tussaud thinking. do we need a beyonce who can't dance or sing? i mean we already have mariah carry. i mean-- don't boo.

i up stand the outrage. i understand the outrage it is important to get beyonce's blackness right. she represents empower am for many black women and her blackness is one of her defining features. you can't just exclude that. it would be like a wax-- without wax hostages. it wouldn't be true. to be fair, to be fair, i do think on the other hand people's expectations are a little too high when it comes to wax figures. let's be honest, they all kind of suck. i mean look at wax leonardo dicaprio. look at that. it doesn't look like him, it looks like his character from the titanic got fished out of the ocean and then immediately punched from that bear from "the revenant." haven't these people learned their lesson about making wax figures? you don't do it, because if you do they could come to life and run for senate. you don't do it, people. no.
1:45 am
(applause) let's move on from wax figures to something even more dead inside. yesterday mitch mcconnell and the republican senator success fle voted to start debating their obamacare repeal bill. which they call the better care reconciliation action, aka no-bamacare. and the biggest moment was when arizona senator john mccain just diagnosed with brain cancer flew across the country to cast the deciding vote. >> i hope we can rely on humility and our need to cooperate and our dependence on each other, to learn how to trust each other again, and by so doing better, serve the people who elected us. stop listening to the bombastic, loud mouths on the radio and television and the internet, to hell with them. 1:48 am
basically watching congressional roadrunner, right. republicans keep trying to kill obamacare but instead they end up crashing too a wall. i mean how many times will they try to repeal obamacare. it feels like they are always voting, voting, this week and last week and the week before. the republicans have voted more times than those illegal mexicans that voted for hillary. and they didn't even want to go through all of it. that is the wrs part. they are only doing this because last week president trump told them that if they didn't vote for some form of obamacare repeal he would go after them in the primaries next year. so you would think that this week trump would be leading the charge. instead, the commander in tweet was focused on friendly fire. >> breaking news, president trump banning transgender people from serving in the u.s. military. he made the surprise announcement in a series of tweets. >> trevor: what the [bleep]. what the-- who-- that was before 9 a.m. before-- you know what trump as

topic and the day as it happened. donald trump tweeted out this message, essentially banning transgender service members from serving in the military. let's talk about the impact. first and fore most, what would the upon impact be if that were to happen right now to somebody who was serving in the military as a transgender person. >> in the immediate piece are you looking at a reduction of force by nearly 15,000 service members across the board. that served in various segments or branches, different skill sets. some are highly regarded skill sets that are very valuable for the military. >> right. >> that is an immediate reduction, you are looking at a force reduction. >> when it the military there is also the issue of how you are discharged. is that something that would concern an active service member? >> yes, absolutely because that discharge code is everything. it's education benefits, it's health benefits, it's the lead in to a new job.
1:57 am
they can never work in the federal government again with a dishonorable discharge or anything underneath honorable so it leaves that uncertainty for them complete plee loo -- completely. >> many of those ideas have been, you know, shut out there by people, like why should we pay? why should america's military have to pay for you to have your gender reassignment surgery. why should america have to pay for you to figure it out? as somebody who served for a very long time, how would you respond to that and what do you think people need to understand about serving in the military as a transagainer person? >> well, you know, again, back to many of us who are career soldiers, you know, the military made a bigger investment in training me to do various skills. they raised my skill set up. my service up. and they were valuable skill sets. they would spend, if there was any other medical procedure that was necessary for my own health than safety, the military would provide it. no matter what it may be.
1:58 am
so in this case, you know, they were providing that care. i was able, i served on active duty. i was deployed overseas in afghanistan while i was on hormone therapy. and in the middle of a transition. >> does it feak your ability to perform as a soldier? >> no. case if fact, again, i will refer back to afghanistan. i was-- my job was probably the most distinct job i had in the military after 30 years. was that that of a combat advisor. i was assigned to the french army as an advisor to train, advise and assist the development of the afghan police force. with that job, i was, you know, it was the most dynamic jb i had in my career to date and i was able to do that job according to sanctions, i received the bronze star, the french national defense medal, i was the first soldier that received that medal from the french his world war ii. >> trevor: wow. enlisted. i was a sergeant major, that is the highest of enlisted ranks and i was doing it until that moment that they found out. >> if someone says how can you be in the military if are you not that supersoldier, what does that mean for you as a transgender person. >> specifically i would feel like somebody was judging me on my gender identity rather than what my character or my skill set can bring to a role. i performed incredibly in my role. i was an hr supervisor for a combat support hospital and i was in charge of everything. and i was also a full honors funeral pall bearer, there was absolutely no strain on my position because of my gender identity. i didn't physically transition in the military because i was so afraid of the negative repercussions. when i was serving it was considered a mental disorder to be identified as transgender. and i saw people being chaptered out and dishonorably discharged in my unit left and right for various different reasons. so i held in-- held in my true self and i was absolutely miserable but i socially transitions outside of work.
