except for one plane whose pilot clearly watched sully one too many times. >> it got scary on a delta air lines flight. took a big chance and headed toward puerto rico just as hurricane irma was closing in. >> while other flights made an abrupt u-turn, the pilots and crews stayed the course toward pores ricco, once the plane landed the crew did a turnaround. >> they came in, did aircraft service, get the bags off, got passengers off -- 30 passengers inbound from j.f.k. for some reason and 180 on the way out. >> everybody arrived back at j.f.k. airport okay. delta officials say no one was ever in danger. >> trevor: a couple of things. first of all, dude, i know there is a hurricane but if you do a report from your bedroom, make your bed. it's so messy at the edges. is the hurricane in your room? what's going on? ( laughter ) i get the plane was taking people out of puerto rico but who was the plane dropping off?

( laughter ) moving on to the main story. ever since the election, america has been more divided than ever. democrats and republican couples ended relationships, liberal kids cut ties with conservative parents. it's gotten so bad, the other day, i was at the zoo wearing my old obama t-shirt and an elephant told me i suck, which really hurt my feelings because that elephant and i were best friends in high school. ( laughter ) what happened to us, jeremy? what and, man? you know what? who cares? because now i'm on tv and you're in jail! that's right, jeremy, suck it! ( laughter ) yesterday, if only for a moment the partisan clouds parted and a little ray of sunshine broke through. >> breaking tonight the deal president trump made in the oval office today with the democrats. >> the agreement provides hurricane relief, raises debt limit and funds the government for three months.

>> trevor: we covered this part of the news last night on the show, donald trump making a deal with the democrats. what we didn't know last night though is how it actually went down because it seemed like the negotiation was a carefully choreographed ballet. today we learned it was more like a molly seizure at bernie land. >> strange bedfellows? trump strikes budget deal with democrats. >> in an oval office meeting the president stunned everyone. >> members of congress in both parties were shocked yesterday. >> mr. trump defied own party to strike deal with schumer and nancy pelosi. >> a sitcom meeting. >> democrat tired when democrats couldn't cave to the increase. he struck a deal or at least what he saw as one. the room went silent, everyone was stunned. >> trevor: i feel like that's how all trump's meeting -- and sex -- end. ( laughter ) stunned and silent. ( laughter ) i think that went well.

( laughter ) just so we're on the same page, the president of the united states abandoned his party's legislative strategy because the words made him tired? if donald trump was winston churchill britain would have folded before tea time. we will fight them on the beaches we, will fight them -- you know what? they can have the beaches. i'm tired. boats make me sleepy. ( laughter ) can you imagine? take a second and imagine if you're mitch mcconnell, right? you've spent your entire career building this thing that you're working on. you're in the oval office and, all of a sudden, your party's president audit of nowhere just sided with your mortal enemies the democrats, and not because he disagreed with your ideas, buzz it's because he basically got bored? like, at that moment, you're probably thinking, well, this totally sucks, i mean, there is no way i could feel more disrespected.

( cheers and applause ) what's going on? >> hey. thanks, trevor. yes, it's fashion week, and while we'll see new looks, some things will never change. for example we know at least one model will fail at her only job -- walking down the runway. and as some designer is going to try to sell us clothes, they fished out of a dumpster. but the thing -- mmm -- that gets the most attention every year is the cultural appropriation. that never goes out of style. >> trevor: for people don't know can you explain what cultural appropriation is? >> sure, when you take something that defines the culture you're not a part of and profit off of it. the fashion industry does it all the time. they take from black culture,

native americans, asia, you name it. the model's even appropriate body dimensions the aliens from close encounters. ( cheers and applause ) ♪ >> trevor: welcome to it. >> thank you. thank you for having me. >> trevor: what do you mean? it's a pleasure. >> i'm a huge fan. >> trevor: thank you so much. i think everyone in new york and around the world is a fan of your work. new york born and bred fashion designer, one of the most iconic names in the city and the world, thank you for being on the show. do you have the time for this? >> it has been a crazy schedule. i just got off the red carpet with editor and chief of vogue and came here at heidi klum's fashion show. >> trevor: you left? >> no, she left, i came. >> trevor: because that would be a gangster move. >> it's on vogue.com. today's that day and tomorrow's project runway, the finale show.

>> trevor: fantastic. do you like being a judge in that world? is it stressful because every moment you're dashing people's hopes and dreams? >> of course, it's crushing. >> trevor: right. >> you're holding it there. you try to give constructive criticism, it's not always well received. sometimes you get a lot of tude back. it can be touchy but it's a great show. we love filming it. my summer camp. >> trevor: interesting, well-paying summer camp. you have a story a lot of people are not familiar with. a lot of people know zac posen the fashion designer, the successful fashion designer, but this story, this film takes us on a different journey in your life, a period that was scary because i felt like the fall of zac posen. when this film was being made about you -- because you didn't make it -- >> no. >> trevor: -- were you afraid of how that would look? >> yes. terrifying. it was vulnerable. i've had a crazy journey.

i entered fashion very young. >> trevor: right. >> very naive, a lot of dreams, ambition, drive, got, you know, embraced by the community, you know, and like the american cycle, they love to celebrate and then get out the rifle. >> trevor: and then they bring you down. >> and they sniper down, that's kind of the celebrity culture. >> trevor: right. >> and i took risks along the way. i left new york. i went to show in paris which is very of the moment in fashion right now and, you know, i had my company, you know, could have been closed. everything could have been done. >> trevor: right. >> and it was also the 2008 financial recession, and, you know, i made a real switch, and the switch was, you know, a lot of people in fashion are there to facilitate a way of life, a lifestyle, and i realize that my studio, my community and my work was my lifestyle, and that was a hugely transformative, important moment.

this was going to be night and day what i was going to live for and work for. >> trevor: that's an interesting choice that you made, especially considering the field that you were in because a lot of people, i mean myself included, you know, sometimes see fashion as a detached world. you go, fashion, they're doing their own thing, living in their own world. >> some are. >> trevor: but in many ways, fashion is responsible for the way nonfashion thinksta's live their lives, body im, what's beautiful, what should be worn, who can wear it and who shouldn't, you were credited and many agree as being one of the first pig designers who included people of color in your shows, who included people of different body sizes, who included people of different ages. that's a risk. why take that risk? why not go, i know what a model looks like, i'm not going to try to change this? >> because diversity is beauty. ( cheers and applause ) our differences are what make us

unique. >> trevor: right. >> we have to celebrate each other more than ever. i mean, i am out there on television in a film putting this message out there. >> trevor: right. >> this is so important from a designer fashion perspective to say that everybody is beautiful. i mean, clothing, fashion should be about giving confidence, empowering, empowering women, clothing can be transformative to elevate you to have experiences that you never knew you could v. i really believe that. >> trevor: when you are designing for people of different body types and different ages and you see the difference that it makes out there, how do you think people could get other fashion designers to do the same thing? because you hear fashion designers all the time say maybe they're from europe or whatever and they go, no, i'm sorry, the clothes look better on a super thin, super tall person and that's how it's going to be. how do you get people involved and get people --

>> by being a success. ( applause ) i think the work i was doing on the red carpet and the dressing i was doing was just challenging to the fashion community. >> trevor: right. >> i wasn't playing a formula. >> trevor: right. >> there is no real formula in fashion, but especially now than ever, it's time to break it. it's time to break the image to celebrate each other. it's essential. >> trevor: do you feel that that is happening? if you're saying it's time, is that happening, even in fashion week now, is that the change? >> we have diverse body type models on our runway and that to me transcends anything that goes down the runway in fashion. >> trevor: right. >> it's a much larger audience and these girls are rocking it. they're hot, they've got the bodies and they look amazing and it's been, like, the best summer because they're breakout runway model stars and they're curvaceous and voluptuous and
