who was the coach at clemson. how are you doing? >> doing good. my pleasure. >> gary: an overview. i know you really liked, o like jason berken. tell us about your experience with him and the kind of persn he is. >> well, i can remember back, he was a kid from wisconsin that wasn't highly recruited, and. [ indiscernible ] recruited jason, and immedie impact. [ indiscernible ] >> he had the tommy john surgery. when he came after it, a lof times we talk in the major league, guys will throw better afterwards. can you compare him after as opposed to before? in your program? >> well, i only had him for oe year after he had the surgery, but before surgery, he had a really, really good arm. he pitched it in the 90, 92

range, and, but he had 3 pitcs for strike. the changeup was a work in progress, as most kids at that age. but he was very determined and obviously disappointed when it happened. but came back and threw well. and has done well in the orios organization. >> gary: luis castillo at the plate. 1-1 count. down low. kevin, i know that berken is somebody who likes to emphasize mechanics. i think you saw that in colle. is that fair to say? >> he always had a good arm. his arm action was always goo. he was a little over hand -- spun off the first base side a little bit early, but he had that good arm and he's worked

didn't complain about not being invited, he didn't blame anybody. he took it as a challenge. i have to earn my way up. >> gary: and he got tested wih the tommy johns surgery. and you probably had to tell him. tell us how that went and what happened in the year he red shirted. >> he went down to meet dr. andrews, and i kept my phe with me. we were playing florida state, and he called me and told me that he had to have the surge, so i appreciated very much, that he called me during the game, but it was a setback. he took it hard, but never one complained through rehab and was meticulous about rehab. >> gary: 1-1. he has alex cora up. runner at first and one down.
