inning with bonifacio tough to double up coming up. land shark stadium in miami, nationals led 5-1. it's now 5- 4. marlins have bases loaded, one out, and usually you would rather have bonifacio batting left-handed than right-handed. he's almost the antithesis wlaf a usual switch hitter is. batting .2 # 1 left-handed. .322 right-handed. beimel's forte is off-speed stuff away from a right-hander. that's what this guy loves. middle infielders double play depth. johnson and zimmerman playing in.
9:31 pm
leading off the inning, cody ross was walked by tyler clippard who is gone. ross gload hit a bouncer. had zimmerman boot it. then chris coghlan walked. >> bob: postseason fly, right field. long run for willingham. foul ball. he drops it, but that's not the worst thing in the world. probably would have tied the game. >> rob: no, would have tied the game. i almost think he was thinking that, but he sticks his head up to see what was going on in front of him and that might have been -- >> bob: they could give him an error on this. >> rob: it happens after this. he looked up right at the end. you saw him just glance up to see what cody ross was doing. >> bob: josh's expression
9:32 pm
indicates he had no intention of dropping that ball unless he's doing great acting job. >> rob: no, i think he knows he probably should have caught the ball, but like you said, he's not on a line to throw it to home. he's in foul territory by the time he catches t-he's going to have to turn around and throw a perfect strike to nieves. if it's a bang-bang play, nieves is really going to get blindsided. go after that good curve ball. changeup.
9:33 pm
  >> bob: one out, base 1-2 to bonifacio. beimel strikes him out with a fastball up! emilio bonifacio's last two at- bats with the marlins needing runners advanced has not been good. >> rob: well, he threw him a changeup and he cleans it up right here. chest high, 88. no shot for bonifacio. look at that emergency hack in the glove. good job by joe beimel. not over yet. >> bob: it appears that manny likes the off-speed stuff of beimel more than the hard stuff of colome against this particular hitter.
9:34 pm
he probably feels joe beimel is much less of a walk risk than colome as well. bases load, two outs. >> rob: joe beimel has been fantastic over the last few years as a setup man. colome is like a rollercoaster at six flags. >> bob: yeah, you don't know what you're getting. >> rob: exactly. up and down. nice somebody to right -- nice stop right there by wil nieves. >> bob: probably his sixth or seventh tonight.
9:35 pm
>> bob: one ball, one strike to maybe the most dangerous hitter in the league at this moment. rbi's in nine consecutive games. >> bob: hit into right field. cody ross scores. ross gload coming home. cut off. marlins lead 6-5. a power hitter shortening up and driving in two runs. by the way, that's the only hit of this inning. >> rob: well, fastball away. up and he doesn't try to kill t slices it through the holement
9:36 pm
two runs come in. >> bob: i'm not sure we want to know what the nats bullpen e.r.a. is in this stadium this year. >> bob: they did give j willingham an error on that drop by the ball by bonifacio.
9:37 pm
that one did not hurt as he would then strikeout. the nationals have made four errors tonight. three by ryan zimmerman at third. >> bob: two on, one play back in the first inning. man, i can't wait until they move into their new stadium. i wonder if we could donate and have it done before 2012. and the nats have shot themselves in the foot with two walks in this inning and two errors. there's the retractible roof stadium they're building on the side of the old orange bowl. ground expected to be broken shortly. after years and years of
9:38 pm
wrangling. changeup on 3-0. >> rob: the stadium. it looks like a masterpiece. >> bob: nice. did i see a teal motif? >> rob: your favorite -- your favorite color. >> bob: and another one. nationals have given up six runs now in the last two innings.
