pitching is the number one priority, getting consistency in the pitching and the defense behind the pitching staff to help win games. yesterday in the loss to the white sox, we saw the good and the bad. ferguson was going for a 7th win, this error opened this doors for four runs. the o's last it 4-3. however, the good defense in that inning did help the o o's in the game has two potential runs were gunned down at the plate. later on in the same inning, nick gunned down a runner at the plate for the final out and kept the o's if the game, they event skully lost -- eventually lost 4-3. palmer, when you're talking about outfield defense, you look at how that help it is pitching dough ing ing

it's towards right field. dye gets there and it's a base hit. the first pitch of the game, roberts extends his hitting streak to five consecutive games. lead off single and it's a base run for the o's. >> roberts, he's stealing bases and has 18 of them. contreras is a big guy. they have yet to throw anybody out. they are 7 for 7. you would think especially with the right handed hitter, this may be a running situation. >> you look down at the infield and it's slow. look how wet it is. adam jones takes the right one. here's the infield defense, the way they are set up. double play up the middle. beck pl is backing up. with add adam jones at the plate.

roberts is edging his lead. >> it's funny, we talk about how much easier it is to hold runners if you're left hitted. they can steal but you're looking right at them. you have to look over your shoulder. a lot of pitching coaches, they have an open stance and you can see better. good breaking ball to adam jones. you don't always look but it's not easy unless you open that left foot and move it closer to first base. it's harder to get close and come to the plate. a lot of guys, they used to turn and look and go to the set position. it gets into center field. roberts will hustle to third.
