>> when i say "indianapolis motor speedway," you think the indy 500. not this week. the nascar world, they take over the brickyard in what has traditionally been an important race for the series. with seven races before the chase, drivers are still jockeying for position, but history tells us the winner sunday could be in line for a major celebration. in seven of the 15 races at the brickyard, the winner went on to win the series championship in that same season. that's certainly good news for mark martin, 50-year-old driver will become the oldest driver in indianapolis's 100-year history to start from the pole. martin has had success at the track. he has nine top-10 finishes in 15 races. the veteran sits 11th in the standings. >> you can catch the brickyard 400 on espn.

games. it's been the opposite this year as they've lost three straight after buerhle's no-hitter. the pitching has been better this year but the offense not good, averaging just over two runs per game. >> jim rice and rickey henderson are two very different people. rickey loves the microphone, while rice was often surly with the media. rickey's a first-ballot hall of famer. while rice made it to cooperstown in his final year of eligibility. rickey was known for his speed, rice for his power. on the eve of their induction, rice and rickey also have different opinions on steroids in baseball. >> it should be the policy, if you are caught at any time using any kind of enhanced drugs, shouldn't be allowed in the hall of fame. we're trying to keep this clean. all of a sudden, if someone goes

into the hall of fame even though they were hall of fame before they started using steroids, did they play the game clean? no. you've got to finish your career clean, you've got to start, you've got to finish your career clean. no in between. >> i played with guys in that era, and as a player we didn't think that they was doing anything different than trying to make themselves better, so i probably couldn't judge what do i think about the steroid era, about what did it do to the game of baseball. >> he cheated the game. he cheated the guys that played at a time that only thing they had to do was just ride on buses and late nights on trains and things like that and wore uniforms and really struggled to get where they are and all of a sudden, you're flying first-class, you're making big dollars and you got to use steroids? we didn't have any nautilus equipment, i never lifted a weight in my life, now you've got nautilus equipment, the guys can go to the nautilus equipment and work out. why use steroids? the average baseball bat is 31.5 ounces, when i played it was anywhere from 36 to 40 ounces so the players are supposedly getting better and stronger but they're using lighter bats so if

they're getting better, why you need steroids? >> rickey henderson is the all-time leader in stolen bases and runs scored. he will be the first position player threw right-handed and batted left-handed to be inducted into the hall of fame. jim rice was the 1978 a.l. m.v.p. and had the most hits and r.b.i.'s between 1975 and 1986. >> i heard some strong opinions there. people have strong opinions about this man -- terrell owens. gave fans a taste of what to expect this season. more than 5,000 fans attended the team's two practice sessions to see t.o. make his public practice debut in a bills uniform. the wide receiver was asked about leadership. had some interesting things to say.

hole in one. one of the craziest holes in one you will ever see. his golf ball bounces off the ball of his playing partner, chris blank, which is part of the golf course, so that counts. olson not only gets a hole in one but he wins a b.m.w. z-4 roadster. not a big money winner on tour. this car valued more than $51,000. he would not have been allowed to afford this with his winnings this year. >> my dad would be jealous. >> can he parallel park? >> my dad can. >> mark calcavecchia would tap in for birdie. he made nine straight birdies over two rounds. that is a pga tour record. here he goes
