i still haven't seen the nationals in this series throw one pitch up and in on lopez. i think you can take the wind out of his sails if you intimidate him some. that's a change. low and away. >> rob: or set that pitch up by knocking him off the plate, not hitting him but knock him back to set the changeup away. and that's just pitching. it's simple stuff. but if you let a guy stand there comfortably for a four- game series, and never challenge him inside, a lot of guys will do damage. >> bob: all right. a little bit of it. i agree. that's just from day one we started working together -- your job as a pitcher, make the head run comfortable, whatever you can do to get a mental edge. >> rob: certain pitchers don't like to be pitched inside and felipe is one of the guys. >> bob: if you can find the guy in the lineup you can do that with, he goes to the dough

dug out and is like, he is throwing -- that guy is panicking but if you're lopez, you go, oh, yeah. they're not pitching inside. they're throwing it right in there. the rest of the lineup is pretty confident. that's a breaking ball. setting up where he could hit it and two breaking balls by craig stammen give the brewers a run here in the 3rd inning. >> rob: if you're not going to locate this pitch better, stop throwing it because he is throwing it for strikes when he is ahead in the count, helping the hitters right there. you're basically helping lopez get a hit when you throw a breaking ball that high. >> bob: that might be the only pitch the pitcher could have hit. a breaking ball for a strike. so that's 5-1, live and learn. here's counsell. but i see the living part of it. but from night tonight, not necessarily the learning part

page. counsell in this series, 0 for 6. he flied for center the first time today. lopez doesn't run much these days. felipe, caught five times. >> rob: the book i'm reading, it tokes about ú74 or ú75, 25 throwing errors because of a bum shoulder but but because of the great games and was such a great catcher, he got two gold beloves. that was out of respect how he called the game. >> bob: craig stammens not walk counsell. this guy has very little power. you have ryan braun and prince fielder the next two hitters. this inning needs to end here but you have to make counsell put the ball in play. or strike him out. and that could turn a 5-1 game around in a hurry.
