four pitches. he used his two-seam fastball effectively the last time out against the white sox. he needs to work down in the zone. i don't think there is any mystery about his movement and the ability to get ground balls when he is down in the bottom of that strike zone that was a very good formula for him against the white sox. he threw very well into the sixth inning and had two double plays because of the single and his fastball. his 18th start of the season for berken, just three wins. all of the numbers are something he would like to improve upon here as he winds down his first major league season. he works hard all the time in between trying to refine his pitches and make sure his location is as sharp as it can be. >> gary: and let the defensive work behind him, which it has. >> buck: it sure has, gary. markakis, and adam dunn is still dealing with the back issue. mora and izturis have been great in the last week or sot. mat wieters is behundred the

plate. >> and with that, after the rain delay, we are yesterday r ready to go. grady sizemore led it off with a home run in the ballgame last night. sizemore against berken, and he will take the pitch for a strike. sizemore with the big bat in the lead-off spot. always the threat, the 18 home runs, 62 rbi's, the threat to put one out, especially northwesterly the ballgame where he'll sit on the fastball where the pitch ser getting ready to break into the game. >> he has become a pretty good power hitter. his average is off this year. he has been dealing with an elbow problem all year long. it has really robbed him of that free freedom to swing. the second half it has been a little bit better for him. >> sizemore with a one ball, one strike count. berken's delivery will be fouled away and he is 1-2. >> we're going to watch all night long as berken gets ahead just to see how they try to

much nighter handle and this is the same two-seam grip. >> gary: here is cabrera batting second who had an oh- fer three in the opener to the ball game last night. it is not easy to keep him off base. he is having a career year and just about every offensive category. 10 in average as a result of the numbers he's put up since the all-star break. the 10th leading average in the american league. cabrera has hit safely in 17 of the last 20 at a .366 clip. 1-1 delivery to him and that is on the outside corner for a strike. 1-2. >> buck: the one thing i lover about cabrera is the way he chokes up oh finance bat handle. that gives him tremendous bat control. he is not a power hitter. he is up about three inchessen the bat handle. >> gary: not many do this anymore. 1-2 delivery to him. great pitch down and in. fouled off. >> buck: the old nellie fapproach. >> gary: nellie had more bat under his hand than above.

a home run in 68 and that he 2/3 innings. he has given up seven in 59 and 2/3 inn this year. that will be fouled off by nick markakis. >> buck: quite a turn around obviously and it is kind of strikes inside. and last night during hi- bat, matt laporta after the game said that is the best fastball he has seen. >> gary: cabrera knocks it down but will not have a play. again, hitting against the %%- the ball forcing back towards shortstop. >> can see where he is lined up and he didn't track that ball very well. he is late moving.

orioles should have had. and izturis, another base hit! coming around is wieters. no, he is going to be sent back. it would have been a collision on that one. so the orioles have tied it up. izturis delivers the rbi single. >> buck: the 10th rbi of the month for caesar izturis. that is a big two-out base hit. first pitch swinging. he got it up around the letters and he hooks it into right. luke scott jogs in and right behind him wieters had a full head of steam coming around, but once he stops him, he throws the ball very well. he has 10 assists from right field and he was right on the money. >> gary: izturis is hitting over .335 with runners in scoring position and two outs. he is one of the best two-out rbi people that the orioles have. and, again, we talked about it during the rain delay, the

importance of izturis in the field and at the plate this year for the orioles. >> buck: there is nothing like a two-out hit to demoralize the opposition and caesar izturis didn't waste any time. he got a base hit, certainry he picks up his teammates and delivers an puts carmenna in another mess. >> gary: first and third, two down. he had to make some calls down there. fouled away and i think both correctly so. luke scott did not have enough speed to make it in on the play before, and this time sam wells sends wieters. at best it was going to be the collision at the plate because the throw came all the way in right on the third-base line. >> buck: part of the information you want as a third base coach is the speed of your runners. the ample strength of the outfield. and how well they throw. charging in. that ball was hit right at the
