to try to earn the save. he blew the same. he did pick up the win. and manager dave trembley was asked about the recent struggles of this closer. >> i think kranny is trying to straighten out his release and it seemed like he is pulling a lot of balls across, a lot of fastballs, he is pulling them across, and i think his changeup is his second best pitch and he's probably got to use it a little more. i think he has to get a little more feel for his breaking pitch. the velocity is good. i think it is his release, you know. >> do you think the -- it is no different. it is one inning, but do you think it is the pressure of closing, pitching in the ninth inning? >> i don't think so. because i think he's very

competitive. i think he wants to be the guy. maybe he's trying to force it. i know -- you know, he's had a couple of rough ones, the one against cleveland and the one last night, but he is still the closer. you know, you're looking for perfection all the time and it doesn't happen, you know. it doesn't happen. i think going forward, here, you know, the last-f the last games of the season here, he's the ninth inning guy. we have to see if he can do it or not. that's how i feel. you have to see if he can do it. >> and the rookies stepped up in september, but would you say matt wieters stepped up that -- tops that list offensively and defensively, he just seems to have turned it up a notch?

>> well, matt has done very well. tillman got better. reimold has been real solid. wieters is probably -- wieters has probably improved more in the defensive category. and -- in a short amount of time. that's been noticeable. i mean very noticeable. i think that is attributed to early work and better footwork, et cetera. but it is getting towards the end of the year and the good ones figure it out >> so dave trembley talking about his closer jim johnson. and tonight if the game is on the line you know johnson will be right back in there. one is the number one trait of a loser? you have to have the ability to forget. >> wade davis goes for the rays and mark hendrickson on the

all angus. all mcdonald's. ♪ ba da ba ba ba >> tomorrow night the red s are in town for for the opener of the three-game series, a have guest alegend, brooks robinson will join us here tomorrow night. we're looking forward to that. the pre-game ceremony with melvin mora and we're looking forward to visiting with number five. to want the finale of the four- game series with tampa bay as the orioles take on the rays. the birds are looking for 3-4. what do you have on mark hendrickson? >> he is definitely best suited for the pen. when he was in working as a starter, his record before he went to the bullpen, 1-4 with a 6.35 e.r.a. while he was in the pen, he seemed to turn everything around. the record changed at the same time. 4-0 with a 3.40'ear. much better suited for that role. if it is a game of inches tonight, well, we will win!

mark henderson is 6'9", and his opposition tonight only 6'5", so we got them by four inches right there, jim! >> speak of his opposition, wade davis, the orioles have never seen wade davis. what can you tell ?us introduce us to the right-hander. >> he comes here to camden yards and he already has an advantage, the orioles' record starting to get pitchers that they have never faced again is 3-12. so he's got that going for him already. not too good about guys they don't know. one good, one bad. he is making his third major league start of the season. the first one was outstanding. seven innings, one earned run. his second game didn't quite go so well. he gave up eight earned runs, so he has seen it on both sides already. >> i saw you go deep into your notebook for the key to the game. what have you got for ?us. >> keep them off second base because the rays, the last three games are hitting .368 with runners in scoring position. for me, and i'm sure you agree
