moments away from the opening tip-off between miami and boston college, the third member of our broadcast team had a chance to sit down and talk with our head coach, frank haith. >> reporter: coach, your team off to a great start, 8-0. what would you say is the biggest reason for your team's success so far? >> we have good guard play, better than in the past. our team is sharing the ball, the best passing team wave ever had. i think, you know, probably they're still young, so naive, they don't know any better. great to see dwayne collins more consistent than he has been and our leadership between him and james dews better than see far. >> durand scott and malcolm grant, what do you like about those two and what they give? >> they're both from new york

boston college likes the month of december, can they make it 11 consecutive games? if they do, they have to do it this afternoon. along with jenn and mike, i'm ron. boston college is missing one of their players, sanders who played only four minutes. here's jenn. >> the bad news is he will not get any more than four minutes from talking to the coach. the good news is they have a player in warmups. he went up for the shot and held his right foot. he's been out since he hurt his ankle november the 20th against st. joe's. maybe we will see him next week but tonight they have to go without him. >> we talked with coaches prior to the game and said rakim wants to play in this but when you have a high ankle sprain, you

frank haith is up by six, mike. >> mike: they haven't confronted any of them. miami comes in. if you're frank haith, you're happy they're 4 of 5 but haven't taken a three yet. working in the offense. a couple early post-ups for centers and couple run-outs. mcgowan only a 53% shooter, misses from the strike. that was the achilles heel for miami last year, especially in close games. paris. and rolls it around. >> mike: you know, ron, he scores a couple shots, i think he may be one of the more underrated frontcourt players in the conference. does a lot of things. can shoot the three. underrated rebounder. i really like his game. junior out of mad son, connecticut. one of the things he does is spread the floor so. we only 1 of 4 shooting. jones inside, tries to muscle it

up, does get the whistle, he'll go to the line. >> mike: i think if you're frank haith, you have to like that move. jones is so explosive and athletic. put the ball on the floor, make good things happen, go to the rim, 77% free-throw shooter. get into the rhythm of the game that way. same high school as sharif and wheeler high school and georgia just outside of atlanta. probably was the highest recruited player that frank haith was able to sign. before mr. scott showed up. >> mike: before mr. scott showed up, absolutely. if that trend continues, the rest of the team may be in trouble. frank has a nice connection in new york city now. right-hander, southern offensive rebound and the putback! the first opportunity to be converted on. they really established themselves on the offensive glass, they need to see
