>> mike: huskies on top by six with 7:23 to play in the first half. leading scorers george mason with nine and chaisson allen for the northeastern huskies with eight. >> mark: chaisson allen is doing very well knocking down the open shots. he's also creating and getting into the paint. so, one of the things about chaisson allen that's so good is that he -- is that he takes what the offense gives them and he's doing a good job of that tonight. >> mike: northeastern now with a 6-0 run here to take the advantage by six at 21-15. they were up 15-9. mason came
7:32 pm
back to tie it up and it's been all northeastern and they have the ball here. >> mark: one thing i love about chaisson allen is that he's not only scores, but he defends. he tries to get after his man. that makes him a complete ball player because he plays both ends of the floor. he doesn't just look to score. he looks to key fend -- defend as well. >> mike: a pretty goodfundamental basketball from both these teams. no secret how they're the two top teams in the league. again, underneath. >> mark: that was great execution by northeastern after the tyutin to get adako the ball because he has it going. >> mike: he's got eight. here comes pearson. >> mark: you have a trailing big man who can come down and knock down the three as in pearson. he's not only a post player, but he's player who can knock down a three. he's shooting 35%. >> mike: 37% from the field from his career. matt janning an nba-range three and that's pretty. >> mike: -- >> mark: this is going to be a three-point shootout tonight. both teams shooting very well

from the arc. they're going to have to try to make these guys put the ball on the floor and take the ball to the basket. >> mike: matt janning trying to respond. he's scored in double figures in every game this season except the last one although it was a big win over vcu. he only had eight. after that three, he's already got eight here in the first half. >> mark: one thing i like about janning is he doesn't rush anything. he takes what the defense gives hymns him. if the defense only gives him two shots, that's what he'll take. [ whistle ] >> mike: spin move by pearson and called. looks pretty good. ryan pearson called for a traveling violation. >> mark: that was a tough call. looked like good move from here. we'll take a look at it. >> mike: it was just late on the call. you saw that. eight-point husky advantage. two from

pointers per game at a clip of 39%, field goal percentage at almost 49%. both of those numbers and for the season overall, they're third in the caa. >> mark: we can see why they're third in the caa the way they're shooting tonight. they have a group of shooters that can definitely shoot the ball. >> mike: makes it did i have difficult because they have this pretty good low inside presence with ojougboh and adako and that force george mason to have to respect all that. they haven't been getting outside shooters at all. >> mark: that's what makes a good basketball team. you learn from the outside up. adako has it going on in the inside. >> mike: tough fadeaway not there. it's an 11-point lead for northeastern. tough pass that time by bataille. [ whistle ] >> mike: northeastern shooting 59% for the game right now. george mason is just at 37%. they haven't really found the touch. they're trying to figure o'out what is going to work for them tonight. >> mark: you see with all these

knock down threes. mason will have to settle down, get the ball to pearson, keep attack on the loaf post area. he's being effect at this. pretty soon things will open up on the outside because they'll have to double down on him. >> mike: checking in for george mason. an air ball on the baseline. allen has the rebound. his minutes have went down the only senior for the patriots. janning for another three. that one off the mark. >> mark: good look for janning. he came off that screen very hard. allen found him in a shooting rhythm. it's very important to get him in the shooting rhythm. >> mike: down low in the post by isaiah tate. >> mark: isaiah tate is another person who can knock down the open shot as well as the three. >> mike: tate has started in the last eight games for mason. it's been a big key for them in helping them win 4-5 last games. they've won 4-5. northeastern with five in a row.
7:37 pm
the only remaining undefeated team in the caa is the patriots at 5-0. allen, another wide open three. is anybody going to get on chaisson allen? >> mark: is anybody going to try to mick him put tonight floor. teps going tonight. no one seems to find where he was, but you have to give northeastern credit. that was a good down screen to get him wide open for that shot. >> mike: there's two guys tonight that have just been bombing up threes and converting at a very high rate and that's chaisson allen and matt janning and george mason has done nothing to try to counter act that right now. back. combination of allen and matt janning right now 6-8 from three-point range. huskies by 12.

>> mike: huskies by a dozen so far tonight from boston. just under 3:00 to go in the first half. you like three-point shooting, we have that here for you tonight. >> mark: tonight it's definitely a three-point shooting barrage going on with allen and janning. both these guys knocking down a three it seemed like every two seconds they're knocking down a two-pointer. set a nice down screen for allen to knock down thely. george mason is going to make adjustments defensively trying to chase those guys off that three-point line because they have it going about now. [ whistle ] >> mike: foul before the time- out on ojougboh. his first for northeastern.

[ whistle ] >> mike: long rebound, ojougboh. hancock the freshman picks up his second. >> mark: freshmen tebd to think they can get it back in one to po session. they have to chip at it at a time a back at a time. there's no 12-point shot in this game. >> mike: i want to till the first half, it's very early on. nobody is going quietly in any caa contest. i mean, you've seen northeastern be in close ballgames this year. george mason had very tight ones as well. >> mark: both this the experience because they have played a tough preseason schedule and been in enough games where they've been down and fought back to try to get victory. >> mike: bigby, shot clock at seven. it's another three in the corner and that one is no good by muo and rebounded by the

patriots. here they come. >> mark: what mason needs to do the last 2:00 of the game, try goat quality possession, -- possessions, gets goods shot and -- good shots and try to go out on a high note. >> mike: like you're saying, i think mason thinks they'll be able to shoot in it right now and they miss the last couple. >> mark: he might have been open, but he's had it going on in the post. i think he needs to get back down to the post, take those shots in transition. [ whistle ] >> mark: on your transition break or secondary break, you take those because you're the trailer. >> mike: it's a foul down low. bigby a little shaken up. tata foul. it's his first on northeastern. -- pardon me, first on george mason. 15th foul after we get the substitution. hancock is going out. kevin foster back in. tate goes out. cornelius scornls back in as well. -- andre cornelius is back in as well. more caa hoops saturday. the only game here tonight.

everybody else played last night. george mason trying to hang on to sole possession of first place. you talk about the close games here. 9-14 games for northeastern have been decided by six or less. they were actually 4-5 in those ballgames. they know the value of playing every possession here. they played a lot of grails great teams as you said out west in those tournaments. travel. >> mark: one of the things i saw on that particular possession on the defensive end for mason, they did a very good job closing out on the shooters making those guys put the ball on the floor. >> mike: how about coach larranaga with his team down five points late in the -- by 12 points late in the first half. i think the goal is cut it into single digits and not worry about firing up too many threes and keep trying to match what northeastern has done so far. >> mark: if you can cut it by half by the end of the half, that's a great move by you feeling good. you've got to make stops, too. >> mike: pearson battling.
7:43 pm
wanted a foul. no call. chaisson allen. nice move underneath. gets his own rebound and puts it back up. >> mark: tough, strong move by muo. gets the rebound and put it back in. >> mike: northeastern leading by 14 points and we're under a minute to go before halftime in this quick-moving game in boston. playing pretty good defense inside as well. here are the huskies. getting contribution infrastructure lost different guys. >> mark: you want to get contributions from everybody on the team that comes into the game. as you saw muo missed hads shot on the first possession and got it back and finished on the second. >> mike: huskies got a 19-5 run going right now. they've had this lead up to 14 points. cam long. 42 seconds game clock. 15 on the shot clock. long, good floater with a right hand. gets two. >> mark: that's a tough move by
