2:45 pm
returning. >> jenn: montgomery on the bench. trying to get a look at her. by her side there trying to gauge how her guard, junior guard is feeling. >> i believe montgomery shook her head and said i am all right to go in. we'll keep an eye on that, depending what the trainers have to say. players always want to play, jenn, you know that. >> jenn: wright has nobody inside. ardossi steps in to try to help defensive defensively. the foul is on mo bennett. her third. >> lachina: absolutely montgomery getting ready to check in. i guess i can read lips a little better than i originally those. >> jenn: that's a good talent to have in this game.
2:46 pm
pick up some good things. montgomery is a fighter for sure. let's see if she can give a boost to her teammates in the last 7:00 and change in this ball game. >> lachina: virginia continuing to attack the rims, going to the free throw line again. they have not missed for the night. they are 16 for 16. >> jenn: that's one of those stats that can really show up in a close ball game for sure. >> foul on the floor. goodlett drawing some attention on the post. edwards picked up the foul. back inside by the jackets. >> lachina: deja foster, who has been really the only reliable option on the offensive end for tech catching it on that possession going up strong. >> jenn: what a pass by the

freshman gerson. she took a hit for it but will certainly get the assist to britny edwards, who has eight in the ball game, surpassing her previous career high of five. >> nice inside by sasha goodlett, using her body, two feet in the paint, there's not a lot you can do, especially when she's got a four inch advantage on her defender. >> jenn: on the other end forced goodlett to play defense as they break the pressure, gerson gets her tenth point of the game. >> lachina: just not getting there for georgia tech, pressure defense. they are not able to recover in transition. virginia just getting some easy looks at the rim. >> jenn: ardossi draws the foul for the yellowjackets. >> lachina: another one on
2:48 pm
britny edwards. she's picked up a couple here in the last minute or so. ardossi one of the best free throw shows in the acc. ardossi the kind of player that never stops working, not only in practice. she had a bad game a few days and she was seen in the gym at 10:00 practicing her shot. you look at her numbers and that didn't come easy. she had to work to get where she is. >> a second in the row. virginia broken the press, a one-on-one opportunity. this time they are able to make their defense stand up, though. ardossi going to take another trip to the free-throw line. that is clearly a good option if
2:49 pm
you're georgia tech. >> lachina: that's a good option for several reasons, not only because you know you'll get production from brigitte ardossi. if you can stop the clock and get free throw opportunities, they can close the gap. look at that strong move. >> close the gap without those precious seconds ticking off the clock. ardossi with a chance to make it a single point deficit here. and she does. fourteen points in the ball game, right around her average for the senior. chelsea shine checks back in for virginia. let's see if georgia tech can get that rotation on the back side. they are going to have to get out, transition game, especially with monica wright handling the basketball. wright finds gerson quickly. no good.

2:53 pm
>> lachina: georgia tech is absolutely making a move. virginia, monica wright makes a big play. when you're playing on the road with the acc, you have to sustain, come back. it's a competitive league. it's never over. but you've got to sustain the knocks and continue to play the game all the way through. it's a 40-minute effort and sometimes more. >> jenn: a little off for ardossi. montgomery pounding for three. coming through in crunch time from jackets. she has been quiet. that's going to be a foul called against brigitte ardossi. her third. the georgia tech yellowjackets attempting to make a run here in chesvi they 55- uth ,

e o rofel goavin a ciagnith ? 1 in erls eges tn ths ofm tism.org >> jenn: georgia tech cut virginia's lead to six here in the second half. but for our wendy's great play, go to the player that seems to have a way of stopping whatever momentum the team brings her way, monica wright. she's done it in a variety of ways. i was wondering if she would be tired at scoring 39 points. she's beating tech and getting baskets in transition.
2:56 pm
georgia tech getting a third. ardossi scored eight of georgia tech's last points in the paint. making a stand, a three-point shot by alex montgomery before the break. >> lachina: ardossi up top trying to defend monica wright. >> jenn: 10:00 on the shot clock for virginia. no good. montgomery goes up for the rebound. >> lachina: montgomery has had a presence on the board since she came in. she got carried off the floor with that ankle. she doesn't look to be hurt even a little bit. >> jenn: get it inside. goodlett, turn around. no good. feels that defensive pressure. under three minutes to play now, virginia 55-49, looking for

2:58 pm
i'm sure they are going to be. this is a transition game for them. they have to set up in the half-court. they make look a little bit out of sorts. >> jenn: montgomery, she knocks down another one. if the yellowjackets are going to make a run from downtown, that young lady is the one who you expect to have the ball in her hands. jackets shooting 28% from three-point range, next to the last in the conference. but montgomery hit her last two. jenn, at the top of the show, i said alex montgomery is the answer to every question for georgia tech, and she really is. she does it with her rebounding. here you see her knocking down big shots. she's a game time player. she's truly a prochlt she can tell when the game is on the line and she comes up with big shots. >> jenn: i think it's safe to say we are not going to hit the 100 point mark in these teams. both teams did last time they played and went to double overtime here in charlottesville. virginia won that game. in fact, virginia has been very
2:59 pm
strong against georgia tech in their hometown. the jackets just one and 25 in charlottesville. they lost their only matchup here in john paul jones arena, so trying to snap that streak. alex montgomery as you can see there, one of the best all-time georgia tech when it comes to knocking down those three-point shots. a frustrating moment with the recovery from the knee injury. watching her she was in front of us lachina. she's wincing and trying to play through some pain. i can promise you there. >> lachina: she is wincing. she's going to need help defensively oterotation. >> jenn: when you need a bucket for virginia you go to monica wright, makes it look easy. she was one of the best in the acc and in the country. didn't get the steal that time
