>> eric: a good pass. tinsley finds warren. >> bob: immediately tinsley gets his opportunity, huh? impact guy. played great against arkansas. 13 points. >> eric: tinsley actually starts freakily. coming off the bench today, walk-on, a big-time contributor for l.s.u. >> bob: bass has to play a lot of minutes because of injury to spencer. he has to go whole way at point. >> eric: rims it in. >> bob: and the guy from baton rouge! the offense against the zone is not good. there's no inside-outside play at all. ogilvy ready to come back in
2:01 pm
now. >> eric: just getting started in nashville, 7:30 in this one. l.s.u. looking for their first conference win, lost tenth straight. 0-10 in s.e.c. play, taking on a vanderbilt team that is playing great basketball. 24th in the country. ezeli, his second block of the first half. vanderbilt the other way. the shot is good! lance just checked in the game and makes his first shot! >> bob: he can knock them in! [ cheering ] 6'8" wing player, gives them the boost off the bench! >> eric: and with that, a quick time-out called by l.s.u. that's vanderbilt first e-poooti the s.e.c. >> bob: the defense. the run-out. find your man. knock it in. goulbourne feeling good!
2:02 pm
>> eric: that is case and point of two things that vanderbilt does well. a good shot-blocking team and on pace to become the best shot-blocking team in vanderbilt school history and they're also as per usual with the kevin stallings team very good from behind the three-point arc. >> bob: they don't use it as freakenly as some teams. they're judicious in the use of the three. beal, of course, and jenkins are the best. but goulbourne can come in and he is shooting 34, 35. that's exactly what you want from a guy coming in off the bench. >> eric: so l.s.u. has the basketball. tied at 13 with vanderbilt. >> bob: they did good attacking the 2-2-1. vanderbilt is not the speediest of teams. gets free! warren has ten points. perfect 4 for 4 from the field. >> bob: getting a lot as they get through the pressure. gets some easy shots.
2:03 pm
>> eric: dennis harris checks in to the game and picks up that loose ball. l.s.u. basketball. >> bob: so far, the pressure ineffective for vanderbilt. it's actually aided l.s.u.'s offensive output. >> eric: bass inside with the left hand. how about that! >> bob: what a crazy move! the littlest guy on the floor driving to the basket. yesterday, kevin stallings in practice, how do you avoid a letdown? he said, "letdown, are you kidding me? we're not that great we let it fall." they have let down a little. >> eric: tchiengang. wild shot. no. one and done. bo spencer pulls down a rebound. >> bob: your comment is well intentioned. beal is a guy that has to get going from vanderbilt. their leading scorer in conference games at 18 a game. he has been absent so far. >> eric: that's a rarity. dennis harris chipping in with to offense. he hits the three-ball.
2:04 pm
harris scored just one point in the last four games. getting it back is brad tinsley! [ applause ] >> bob: they continue to go to pressure on makes. harris, 6'11", 190. reminds me of the body of the freshman for that storied program that is struggling a little bit right here. what about this? get out of here! >> eric: back-to-back bus buck for the stringbean. dennis harris with five off the bench. >> bob: and he's looking at the assistant responsible for the scouting report. where is this guy on the report? we don't even see him. >> eric: jermaine beal 0-2 from the field. leads the team in scoring. close to 16 points a night. >> bob: look how slowly they bring the ball across. almost a ten-second violation that time. bass getting instructions from trent johnson on every play.

2:14 pm
welome, >> eric: welcome back to memorial gym in nashville, tennessee. l.s.u. has come on the road looking for their first s.e.c. win and off to a good start. >> bob: part of the reason is they're attacking the press very well. keep in mind right now, as we run the attacking the press, if you press, you are gambling. as a result, if you can get through the press and get easy stops, that's what you wa. bble penetration and finish by storm warren at the other end. there have been several plays like that. as a result, l.s.u. attacking the press, helping their offense. they have only four turnovers in the game so far. that is a big, big plus.
2:15 pm
>> eric: l.s.u. doing a lot of this without tasmin mitchell. he has two personal fouls. vanderbilt has been playing a lot of the first half without one of his stars. a.j. ogilvy. he is not in foul trouble but hasn't played much. >> bob: mitchell right there. two points so far in the game and he averages nearly 18 a game. you're right, eric, he only played six minutes in the first half. but that's what you have to do. he has to be in there in the second half for them to have a chance. he's the guy i think has to get more involved. ogilvy has been good as centerpiece in attacking of the zone, but beal has not been agreggive looking for the shot at all. ogilvy's in and out of the game. of course, he's not producing a lot so far either. >> eric: bo spencer running point so far. and whatlat beal got a hand on . kne in c transition.

2:19 pm
>> bob: what you have to do, spencer a guy to take a shot. that's him. guarding him tightly. the rest of the players are very inexperienced in terms of their scoring. struggle for kevin stallings so far in this one. >> eric: well, under 4:00 to play, first half. kevin stallings and vanderbilt trailing trent johnson and l.s.u.
2:21 pm

2:22 pm
20 points. look at the right side. 53% from downtown. this game is 0-2 from three-point range with two assists. not very much involved. you got to give l.s.u. credit. not their defense on him, but it's l.s.u.'s offense that is throwing the rhythm of vandy off. they're holding the ball so long before they shoot. as a result, vandy a little impatient when they get the ball at their end of the floor. very, very good psychological start right here by trent johnson. >> eric: l.s.u. winless in conference. 0-10. inside, feingold, tied up. tied up. possession arrow favors l.s.u. >> bob: frequent substitutions on the part of kevin stallings in this game. that's good for the second half, because you guys have legs. and they can get after it, especially defensively. it does throw the offensive rhythm off when you substitute
