the acura halftime report rolls on from winston-salem, north carolina. it's not often i don't have a comment. i'm going to leave it to you, though. >> i'm stunned. let's look at the rookie of the year. i think this was an easy choice. derrick favors has been terrific. inside he's been a man averaging almost 12 points, fifth in the conference for rebounding. two blocks per and eight double doubles. he's elevated his play. >> you are a doctor of defense,

let's look at the acc player of the year, mike. >> this was a close call. it goes to vazquez in maryland. had an awful start first four games of the year, but came on strong. he's had terrific games down the stretch. 41 points against virginia tech. he was awesome against duke, hitting the game-winning shots. he deserves that honor. >> we should have the whole acc team now. >> john is a no brainer. he had a terrific season for duke. vazquez and another easy cal on first team. not a lot of big fellows. al-farouq aminu stumbled, but averaging a double double. delany has terrific. five 30-point games. this was tough, but nolan smith improved and is a big part of

not quite three minutes gone and wake forest had a lead of eight. a clemson win goes to the number three hole in the acc tournament. opening round by. wake wins doesn't do a lot for wake in terms of positioning, but means a lot to florida state. >> mike: they are interested watching this game. you can see how the brackets

haven't seen from l.d. williams was the passion. i asked him what he chose to address the team about. all the seniors addressed the team. he said why he played with such passion. he quickly became a wake forest demon deacons. he imagined this is where he would be playing on this night. he thought about this for a long time. >> tim: i don't know that a player represents the rise of wake forest like l.d. williams. he's a good defensive perimeter player. booker has been reduced to a complete non-factor in the game. >> mike: talk about the size in this tournament. clemson is undersized.

they play above the rim, but the big centers, the post players for wake forest are giving trevor booker problems. >> tim: you touched on that many times before when we come to wake forest. they are susceptible to team that is shoot well. they have a lot of depth to run at guys like booker. >> mike: it's a seven-foot sandwich. booker had to kick it out. >> tim: stitt gets fouled. he picked up a personal. his second. >> mike: watch this look down. you get the defeat inside then the weak side coming over. you have three players here. there's really nowhere for trevor booker to go. he's got to kick it out. >> tim: mcfarlands with the foul instead of smith. his third.

that's bad news for wake forest. david potter re-enters the game. dino gaudio who, along with mike spent time as a head coach in his career. very emotional guy. i think he's making sure his team finds his way before the conference tournament gets underway. >> mike: very respectable. 57% winning percentage. in three years here at home, 41-5 at the joel. >> tim: one of the real great guys in this business. after the untimely passing of skip proctor, everyone knew this job really did belong to team struggling, we know about clemson never winning in chapel hill. it's been 17 years since they won in this building.

than clemson played, for instance this time a week ago. if you are going to make a run and be able a legitimate contender, you have to win some ugly games. that's what they have done. >> mike: mission accomplished there. it was 21-19 at florida state at the half with a bomb to get to 19. they were at zero with 14 minutes to go at the first half. it puts a lot of pressure on your defense. >> tim: trapped on the inbound pass. one of the moments where wake forest that has lead, but clemson hanging around. with the pressure defense they have, it's a factor. the acc women's tournament came to a conclusion earlier today. we have more on that. >> jenn: i was there to see the semifinals yesterday. today, it wrapped up with the blue devils getting a 70-60 win.
