pitch by ray. they made him chase something out of the zone. that is something he has really been working on. given up 10 0-2 hit this is season. they want him to be better when he is 0-2, 1-2 in the count. one of the reasons he is ahead of the count, he almost refuses to waste pitches. and for nate brown, that is the first strikeout of the game in a fastball that time. brown looking off speed, down on the count. that is out of the zone. a ball, a perfect spot up around the letters. sit very difficult for hater to hit that pitch. 2 outs and up comes tim emmons.
4:31 pm
off speed and it falls out of the strike zone. >> he has a lot of movement. the bottom really drops out of it. that is an excellent pitch. and emmons was nipped by one that grazed his lead leg. looked like he went back to the same pitch. that time kind of got in inside and it drew contact. so, they will get on any way they can. here is brock feldmann with two outs. only the 4th batter ray has plunked this year. i don't think that qualifies as a plunk. that was a nick. just a graze. i don't think it even left a mark. a good fastball find it is

strike zone to feldmann. he chops it to fujita, and discovering 2nd, the 2nd out of the inning. and emmons reached by 2 outs,

12 runs, 3 hittings, no errors for troy. the ualr got a run, but the lead was eraseed in the bottom of the inning. dick sullivan and steven rosado. alabama beat auburn, 9-1. the crimson tide softball team, one of the best in the nation, completing a 9-1 win over auburn. 2-0-1, sullivan. now, 3 balls and no strikes.
4:35 pm
>> there is scott norwood, in his 2nd year as head coach for ualr. he came over from southern baptist. grew up in that area. kind of the recruiting hot zone for the a little rock chosens. and last night scott norwood wasn't even at the ballpark. didn't watch them play. he was back at the team hotel. he had to sit out the game last night, because he got emotional with a call and with the new rule with sunbelt, how tough is that. you are on the road and you are at the hotel, can't even watch the team. had to pull for his team. glad to be back today. and steven rosado opens up and
4:36 pm
the ball gets away from landis wilson and sullivan moves up. so, ualr will get some activity out in the bullpen. that will make a head coach lose some hair, make it turn grey, that is for sure. so, rosado now has a runner in scoring position and does not have to sacrifice himself. wilson did an excellent job of digging the breaking pitch and keeping it playable.
4:37 pm
troy struck for 2 in the 1st. and the trojans have a runner at 2nd base with a runner out and nobody in the 2nd. even rosado is a bit unusual, that he does not wear battle gloves. most players wear batting gloves on both hands. a few will wear it on one hand, usually the bottom hand, but rosado plays without them. old school. >> that is why i brought it up. >> because you are a old school guy. i like that. got to put a little pine sol on there, though, if you are
4:38 pm
going to be bare handed. you watch the encourage 9 hitter, hitting -- you watch the number 9 hitter, hitting .260, back-to-back, i think that will get the little rock bullpen buzzing pretty good. back to the top of the order for adam bryant. he looks to bunt. ball 1. and bryant, a dangerous hitter. listed as 5'10". i don't know about that measuring stick. he might be 5'9". a lot of pop, though, for a little guy. 9 homers. and made a nice play there. and getting bryant at 1st. and sullivan move to 3rd rosado to 2nd. >> yes. right on the cones, that one,

1 lead into the 3rd. scott norwood not happy between innings. >> he can sense troy is up 3-1. it could get away from him. he is trying to get a sense of urgency out of his team ofively. and rice killing are for at the bottom of the order. fiery guy, coaches 3rd other there. he is a pacer. one of those guys you like to put a pedometer own and see how much mileage he records during a game.
4:44 pm
>> yes. >> coming into today's game, they were 16-12 overall. brought in a bunch of junior college player to try to make an impact. he is the right guy for the job, no question. we will talk to scott norwood in the bottom of the inning from the ualr dugout. 2 strikes on killingsworth. and an off speed breaking ball sends killingsworth back to the dugout. and strikeout number 2 for tyler ray.
4:45 pm
>> yes. watch his body just kind of lunge forward. he had a couple of at-bats just like that. ray is doing a fantastic job of keeping the hitters off balance with both the change ups. only 2-1 home run for jason houston. and there are two outs. mccollum bops up to adam bryant. there is 2nd base. and, indeed, tyler ray has settled in. surrendered to houston, who is now on deck. 5 homers with the left-handed battling 1st baseman . that is

hammered foul out of play on the left side. and rowell, another one of those transfers out of orange, texas. nice approach. nice and high. i like to see that with the open stance. pretty good swing. so, ray, this is exactly the kind of performance so far that bobby pierce was hoping for today. looks like he has all the pitches working to command the

change up, command the fastball, able to throw the slider in and out of the strike zone. so, he has his good stuff today. and the 1-2 pitch barely misses. the change up has been affected, but that one was steady wide. they tried to start it off, but maybe the runner will chase out it have pitcher's zone, but a pretty good at bat right there to lay off the pitch. here is the 2-2. the arkansas - little rock has players from oklahoma, 5 from texas, 4 from a, 3 from missouri, 3 from kansas, 2 from illinois, 1 in indiana, nebraska, north dakota, north carolina, tennessee and new york. >> pretty spread out, yes?
4:48 pm
rowell is looking for his 2nd hit in the series. he had one last night. good speed and wide. last week we saw a 17-pitch at- bat late in the game, and finally keyed an fau win over the cajuns. this one hasn't approached 17 pitches yet, but unless sit a battle. this is popped up on the mound and bryant inches his way to the hill to make the catch. three up and three down. tyler ray sails through the 3rd. 3-1, troy.

3-1, troy, off to a good

start early. leads the arkansas - little rock by 2 as we play in the bottom of the 3rd. it is our pleasure to be joined by the coach, nor more in the arkansas - little rock dugout. how important is the series to your club as you try to establish a winning season early in the sunbelt conference this year? >> it is very important. we need to show we start playing with the guys in the top of the conference year in and year out. troy is one of those guys i hope we will see doing better. >> and kind of what was the point of that. >> >> you have to make adjustments and a short term memory to play the game well. if you can could that well, tough learn to do it quick and we have to learn to do it wick. let's not wait to the 6th, but let's do it now. coach, thank you for stopping by and good luck the rest of the way.
4:51 pm
>> thank you. coach nor gives a lot of -- scott norwood gives a lot of energy to the arkansas - little rock dugout. try to infuse a new commitment to baseball and basically to play for effectively. you heard him say that. >> yes, the reason he got on the team right there in the top of 23rd was to try to jump -- 3rd was to try to jump start the turnaround. didn't really work, but he may have gotten across to mr. apologize. long stop to -- >> they go to conferences in front of the dugout. it is kind of the same thing. a 20 second time out in basketball t. team start to go on a run before it goes out of hand. try to get the team back to regroup so you can keep it in

control. it may have wonder. colds, after working the -- golden, after working the first two guys last time, it has to work. and pitch sails away. golden walked 19 this year. averaging 6 per 9 innings. that is excessive. you can tell he has good stuff, but you have to be able to harness it and get your spot. a nice fastball, slider, but it has to be around the zone to be effective. there you see another good pitch. just missed down and away. and golden has pitched from behind in the count, much more often than he would like in the early going. his last time out though, his last start with a good one. a week ago against florida international, he had a complete game victory.
4:53 pm
9 innings, 11 hits, only allowed 5 runs and struck out 8 against fiu, and that was his best performance of the year. outgoing games are so rare in college baseball these days. you don't see a lot of cg's, complete games, anymore. >> and four passes there, issued by golden. now, miles hoyle, for the 2nd time, walked in the 1st inning. hoyle like it is 1st pitch and golfs it to center field. late start but comes on to make the catch. nate brown was deep in center, but ablerecover. >> yes. that will make the center fielder play a little deep. i think hoyle got it off the eastbound of the bat a little

bit. he miss judged it for a minute, but able to make a good reserve. 2 outs and, and fujita came off the bench yesterday, had a base hit, bounced out of his counter part at 2nd base, houston back to the 1st. and over to 1st base, and a good inning for golden, as he rallies. after 3, it is ualr and troy, the m?m?m?m>eíeíeíeíeíeíeíeíeíeí

3-1, troy leads after 3. bobby pierce joins us from the dugout. this is a good start for your club. you had to rally late last night, but so far the tenor of this game is different from the first one. >> yes. you have to take the pace of the game, what comes on that day. i am happy to see tyler coming in and pitching pretty good. i thought he pitched pretty good, been in command and we come back and scored a come in the bottom, taking a 3-1 lead. got a good, competitive ball game on a beautiful day and a lot of baseball to play. and steven felix, boy has he gotten hot. >> he really turned it on. 4-year starter for us. off to a good start but really come on as of late. really big hits. 2nd time runner at 3rd, 2 outs. i would like to see him pick up

the rbi, but making good plays for us, as well. thank you. good luck as your ball club seeks it's 7th consecutive victory. >> thank you. four wins over brown, and a pair of double headers, then a win over auburn. always good for this troy team to beat a southeastern conference team, then the one last night, a comeback victory, and pierce believes his team is ready to forge into the upper division of the sunbelt conference. >> well, they were kind of -- as you see the ground ball, 5- 3 there -- that was a team in troy expect today play a little better than they had at the start of the year. it wasn't really due to is a whole lot of things other than guys weren't playing as well as they did last year. trying to live up to their potential and just kind of their past. ray comes around to the mound, offensively felix has it going a little. the other guy in the mid of the
