or nine. he worked hem very well. eight pitches for nyjer morgan. ryan zimmerman hit a home run. adam dunn crushed the ball. willingham up the middle. that ball will get through for a base hit. the big man breaks his bat. strong enough to get the rbi and washington puts a crooked number on the board here. he crushed his bat. strong enough to put this up the middle. and the hammer from alabama drives in a huge two-out run right there. so nolasco's fast ball doesn't have a lot of movement on. breaking ball and change-up decent but that fast ball 92 miles an hour in there. >> another former marlin who

well so is the guy hitting in front of him, number 11. here's the lineup scott olsen faces featuring hanley ramirez who were our ball club out. in fact he's made a career of it. he's off to a .284 start. won the national batting championship last year. not a lot of changes really to the marlins. they're they're a ball club that's kept themselves intact with a lot of talent over the years. one of them was scott olsen. >> he's got over 100 starts in the major league and he continues to progress, gain for confidence. i love his attitude. mound presence. he's very aggressive. >> cameron maybin hitting .259. it has been a strikeout fest for this young hitter. maybin has been to the plate so far this year 85 times.

more so then ever before every team has advanced scouts. ebb team has a scout in the building. we're a good pitch right there. olsen had him 0-2. lost him with the marlins' most dangerous pitcher coming up hanley ramirez. the nationals are top six in the national league in defense. desmond and kennedy up in the middle. willingham and bernardino and then pudge rodriquez, of course, behind the plate. hanley ramirez, a couple of home runs, seven rbis so far. he hit .342 to win the batting championship last year. and i bet you folks have no idea how long it's been since

the shortstop did that in this league. think of the great hitting shortstops ashley's had and you still may not get this one because it goes far back. back to when i was a kid i know remember this guy. >> ernie bank. >> he won a home run championship but not a batting championship. good guess, though, because ernie won quite a bit. this was a right-handed batter who made his living hitting the ball to right field almost his entire career and he played up the middle with a hall of fame second baseman. >> is it in pittsburgh? >> yes, it was. mr.mazarowski's partner. >> i have no idea. >> dick gross who is also a

baseball with 22. miguel cabrera, the former marlin has 25 for the tigers. >> well this team wasn't going to bring cantu back for this season. >> not for a good career on base percentage. .345. they had thoughts of letting this guy go. 16 homers, 100 rbi after he had hit .2995 and they figured he's not getting on base. he's not hitting as many home runs. come back in a flurry. >> that's a lot of rbis for a guy with 16 home runs but here's the other thing he does. he hits lots of doubles. 83 of them in '08 and '09 combined. so he's a gap shooter who occasionally leaves the yard if you make a mistake. olsen with a count of 1-1. it's going to be a long first

inning for both pitchers in terms of their numbers of pitches. willingham's base-running mistake failed out from nolasco who had already thrown 28 pitches and now for olsen 17 already. 1-1 pitch on the pitch track. looks pretty good but you didn't give it to ricky nolasco so we shouldn't ask for that pitch either. still good pitches. >> jorge cantu only 2-13 career against olsen. >> he's still dangerous though. he's one of their better home run threats. >> they've got him! ooh, a high throw or else olsen would have had coghlan picked off. he took a couple of steps towards second. >> pudge rodriquez before that throwover was pointing, making sure scott olsen -- watch this right here -- look at first,

strike. the ball gets into centerfield, bernan dina will make it. it will be a steel for bernadina, and an error as desmond took a strike. the lead is huge more roger. nobody is going to get him on this. the throw goes right above his arm. great jump. pitch is down low. tough to step out and make the throw and roger creep and takes off. it looks like if hanley areas residence would have picked that ball up, he would have stayed at second but strangely enough hanley stopped running and maybin had to come in and get the ball. >> here's scott olsen who's not only a good hitter but a very good bunter. the infield's way in and if bernadina comes down the line on a safety squeeze, jorge cantu would come right down the

line with him but if olsen gets any kind of bunt in play, bernadina who gets a which is would be able to score because he can fly. infield way in for the marlins. some teams don't do that early in the game but against the opposing pitcher it's a good call. >> and nolasco going slow soft against scott. he knows his old teammate can hit a little bit and if he does square around for a squeeze, for a pitcher you're talk to throw right at the hitter's chest so that he may pop it up. that would be interesting. all right, that's a fast ball. >> a good bunt or try to swing it. >> you probably wouldn't call the bunt with two strikes because you want him to hit the ball somewhere and maybe get it

and of course jorge cantu after the departure of miguel cabrera was playing some first base. they knew sanchez was on the way and they knew that would move cantu over to the other side of the infield. >> they also put wes helms at third sometimes and will put jorge cantu back over at first base. >> wes, one of the best bench guys as a veteran you can have in this game and the '02 now back last year when they had wes helms and ross gload, the marlins had the best pinch- hitting tandem in major league baseball since the 1930s. we'll tell you about that when we see wes, and i'm sure we will at some point in this series.

ricky nolasco, pretty good hitting pitcher is deck, sporting .141 career average. and a 1-2 to sanchez. scott just cannot get the plate with any of those pitches down and in. he's been close. he's tried to bury these hitters at two-strike counts. hasn't been able to get that corner yet. >> and he hasn't broke out the big breaking ball he possesses be may be trying to go through the order before he show it's. >> that's refreshing. >> would be in. >> we like that. >> tried it again 3-2. now the pitcher's on deck. we'll see if fredi gonzalez does something with the runner ohio. big catcher ronnie paulino who's not worked much at all by

adam dunn charging hard. remember that play he made in philadelphia. he's going to try to come in and snuff out a runner at third base. and that make it's a tricky play for ryan zimmerman because he has to charge a bid and retreat to the bag if the ball does not come his way. >> same scenario too. one out and the catcher is on second base and so adam knowing that if he were to pick the ball up, may be he does go to third. >> great bunt, zimmerman scoops it and adam kennedy does a great job of getting back to the bag. he went and got the ball and then came back. 5-4 on the sacrifice with a star next to the -- ryan zimmerman charges hard right here. nolasco was getting low right there. ryan decides i'm going to take the ball. take a chance and throw out the
