who were aware of this event but were unable to attend. whether they're here in new york or miami or london or anywhere else. in addition to that i will take questions from the audience, and no speeches, which are pressing to you on any topic as we can. i will be in the back if anyone needs a book. we are talking about "the farhud: roots of the arab-nazi

alliance during the holocaust". in the -- what is the farhud? it is a nazi/arab alliance against the jews of baghdad on june 1st and june 2nd, 1941. this was an attempt to exterminate the jews of baghdad of iraq, did not go the way they planned, and we will explain exactly what happened. the word farhud is actually an iconic symbol for the arab/and not the alliance in the holocaust. how is it a group of people dwelling in a land for 2600 years, the jews of mesopotamia and iraq, 1,000 years before muhammed, came to be considered to be vernon, sub human and were

expelled from their own home and subject to efforts to perpetrated genocide. how is that the nazis who were anti-semitic made an alliance with the arabs who are semites? a semite is children of the descendants of noaa. noaa had three sons. those descendants including abraham were semites, the arabs and the jews are difference stems of the abraham treat. how is it that the nazis who hated arabs and semites were able to make an alliance against the british and the jews? what was the purpose? the purpose was will.

what was the reason? the reason was oil. we will get into all that. i would like to say that the farhud was just one pogrom in one city and afterwards the alliance went into the battle field. from paris to palestine. from intelligence operations to parachutes, to artillery brigade. this was a mass movement of tens of thousands of muslims and these tens of thousands of muslims were in direct alliance of open genocide against the jews. i have to explain something. we are talking about very sensitive stuff. my information is completely historical. it is the 20th-century, not the twenty-first century.

nothing in what i say as unhappy as it is to hear should be used as a pretext to moved against or have a negative reaction against any of our neighbors. but i do feel that unless a legacy of hate can be confronted we will never have a future of peace and we have to understand the legacy of hate that created the farhud, created the holocaust, created the middle east that grew out of the holocaust is in many ways with us today. once again it is important to keep this discussion completely historic. if anyone tries to draw me into a contemporary discussion i am not going to be drawn in because i am here all week to talk about the academic history. i should say there were more than a dozen volunteers in five

countries who helped research this book. there is a website called farhudbook.com. i have my own web site at edwin black.com. there are probably more than a thousand footnotes as we revealed thousands of archives to review the yiddish press and german press and the american press and arabic press, beat nazi press, diplomatic papers and arab diplomatic papers. we tried to do as thorough a job as people who helped me provide a focus in the audience today. with that i will start reading and i would like to get a copy of the book. could i get a copy?

when did the hatred for the jews began in the muslim world? why did it last? the history shows us -- we are talking history here. history shows us -- history shows us that again in of the arab hatred and muslim hatred for the jews began in 627. when the jews of medina were exterminated by mohammad, you have heard of mecca and medina, medina was a largely jewish city. afterwards medina comes from hebrew. there was no arabic at the time of the koran. it was written in a combination

of hebrew and syrian. the or original prayers, bowling down to jerusalem, and after the jews of medina refused to convert, turned to mecca and the jews were exterminated one by one by having their heads severed by mohammad and his colleagues, the islamic conquests of all the or arabian peninsula into the middle east into north africa. this is well documented muslim conquest. that is how the muslim world became established. i am going to remind people that this is a sense of topic and i want to talk history only.

not contemporary affairs. [inaudible] >> my job is history. you will determine the present text. you will determine the future. so the jews of the arabian peninsula and the middle east, when the muslims took it over--not just the jews but the christians. this meant they were a protected group within the islamic world and they had second-class citizenship or third class citizenship they were not love, and this is important because

this issue comes right to the question of the farhud and the arab/not the alliance and our status right in jerusalem. that would be completely incorrect to say the jews in the moslem world were always kept as some humans or discriminated class. many jews in many areas thrived greatly in the muslim world. they were protected in the muslim world. they became great merchants in the moslem world. when the muslims exposed -- when the catholic church -- in 1492, it was the muslim world. it was the sultan who took them in allowed them to thrive and took them in not to carry stones to build a pyramid but to thrive

and to make the empire stronger. there are many times when jews were either horribly persecuted or greatly in emancipated within the consequence of the world. whenever they excelled, they were put down and were put down -- there was no way to generalize. the jews of mesopotamia were there for 2600 years. that is 1,000 years before islam came to the middle east. garrett is it that they were turned into a file member of the citizenry.

i have written a second book about this which is coming out next month. the 0 original way i got into the farhud was document in the oil in the middle east. the question is where did we fit into this? in 1933 -- in 1919 the jews were given a homeland under the balfour declaration to the league of nations. i don't want you to think this was a strictly british enterprise. the same type of about 4 declaration was repeated by the germans in the war, the same type of balfour declaration was repeated by the ottomans who owned have -- palestine. the same type of declaration was given by the united states. it was a worldwide phenomenon. no one knew where palestine was in 1919 when the bell for declaration was made.

where was palestine? palestine was actually renamed israel by the romans in 70 a.d. when the jews were expelled. it was attached to syria. it was to wipe away the identity of the jews in israel. eventually in the 20th centuries they didn't know if palestine was the southern part of syria, was a northern part of africa, they still don't know. there were no boundary lines at that time. even today we see there are disputes about who owns the bottom of the peninsula. we see that there are jews in lebanon. in 1919 when the jews -- when the area was divided into two states a jewish state and arabic state, the arabs failed to

develop their own state because they would not coexist with jews in palestine as equals. when i say jews i don't mean european jews or polish jews and russian jews. there bernie polish and russian jews behind settlements. even yemenite jews, any jews could not come up and settled in palestine. until 1898. those who say that arabs and jews have always lived in peace in palestine are unfortunately mistaken. in the last 150 years, from 1898, maybe a little bit before, there was never a single day of peace between jews and arabs in palestine. there were laws against jews coming into palestine, into a

palace time, laws against jews owning property in palestine and these were under control of the sultans'. when the jews got a homeland in 1919, and 1920 as a result of the balfour declaration in the league of nations, the arabs rebelled and there were terrible riots against the jews. when i say riots in 1920 and 1921 what a my talking about? i am not talking about people running up and down the streets with large placards saying palestine for the palestinians. i am talking about people running into synagogues burning torahs, heads cracked open, babies being killed, people being be headed. these are the facts. 1920, 1821. the british mortuary reports say

they have never seen so many posts mortuary 0 head injuries as people were bashed and bashed because they were jewish. in 1928 this came to head. in 1928 the jews decided to said down at the wailing wall when praying for yum cooper. everyone knows what the wailing wall is. this is a remnant of solomon's temple, law holiest site for the jewish people. because they tried to sit-down it violated sharia. you remember i told you the jews were considered second, and third class citizens within the muslim mind set. you will recall i said there second and third class religious

something i never do. i am going to say as i said in my introduction, this book is a nightmare. i regret any one must read it. i regret it was necessary to right. the scholar had his brain extricated and played with a football. the baker was baked in an oven. i am not talking auschwitz. i am talking he run. a visitor was crucified against a door. babies were cut in half. people were stabbed. the police in many instances joined the muslims. i want to make it clear, there were many muslims who saved their neighbors and hid them

hitler comes to power. the arabs say we want hitler. they are not just fascist leanings, they are actual not these. they petitioned to joined the nazi pow it -- party. this was not as palestine but baghdad and cairo and the roots and syria. they translated mine,. they redacted and change the translation to take away the word semite and turn it into just anti-jewish hatred. they wore armbands. there's a place in the book where the arabs with a huge nazi

flag, the syrian national socialist party, national socialist, chairman national socialists were the nazi party. you can still see this right now on the internet. their flag has not changed. it still has a swastika. syrian national -- national socialist party. and the nazis said we don't want you. you are semites. we are talking about the nazi era. we want -- never let you into the nazi party because he must be a pure aryan to be in the nazi party. so they said if you won't adopt

us, that is what they made. they ran nazi publications and serialized in arabic and record's protocol of the elders of zion which was a fundamental turning point for adolf hitler in his war against the jews. this treatise today, this protocol as forgery is the best selling book in the arab world. in addition nazis didn't want to upset the apple cart with the british. the british had the mandate for palestine. the british had the control over german debt and the nazis wanted

to keep palestine open for jews. i wrote the book about the transfer deal between the zionists and nazis. millions and millions of their money. and the deal in 1903 was bazaar which was based on the mosaic deal with the pharaoh to let my people go with the cattle and sheep and goats to come with. they wanted foulest 9 to remain a jewish settlement to support the jews, force them out of germany and into this one place and when they were all in this one tiny attractive land, they would execute the final solution

which would be extermination. this was something that the arabs were deeply involved in. when i say arabs i mean tens of thousands of arabs. i will give more information about that as i go along. i want to remind everybody in the middle of my speech that this is about history. nor do i wish to say that every arab in palestine was unwilling to coexist with their jewish neighbors. but i have to tell you something. i will give you an example. the night she be family was one of the strongest families in jerusalem but those who tried to coexist with the jews just like today are marginalized. they are intimidated. they are murdered. there ostracized and eventually the forces of hate, the forces of hate take over. i talked in the beginning about the beginning of this

extermination of the jews in 627. why did i do that? just to find some historic problem? that is what the arabs themselves constantly spoke about in their newspapers, in their rallies, on the radio. they constantly referred to the extermination of the jews as setting the path for their future course. for them this was an iconic moment. for the christians it would be the sermon on the mound. for the jews would be departing of the red sea. for the muslim world is in their own words not for you to decide, it was the extermination of the jews in medina. when they recall disinformation, when they recall that they recall that not only within their own private circle but they said it to adolf hitler face to face eyeball to eyeball. they said it on german radio.

they said it openly we must exterminate the jews. i am going to read something. our hatred for the jews -- i'm going to read this. our hatred for the jews dates from god's condemnation of them for their persecution and rejection of jesus christ and their subsequent rejection later of his chosen profit. the word of god teaches us and we implicitly believe this, for a muslim to kill a jew in shores him an immediate entry into heaven and in to the august presence of god almighty. what more can a muslim want in

this world? who said this? this was not an arab agitator. this was the king of saudi arabia. who was he saying it to? this was the king of saudi arabia saying it to the british foreign minister. an official protest of 90 minutes which i quote completely in the book. that year was 1937. which was in the middle of the hitler regime. as the muslims are telling the hitler regime you are either going to stop the jews in palestine, give us our own state of the way we want which is free

of jews, we are going to go work with the germans and that is exactly what they did. the reason i read that is i don't want you to think i have exaggerated some independent little guy. the mufti of jerusalem was not a marginal guy. he was the leader of the arab supreme muslim council. he was the grand mufti of jerusalem. the british made him the grand mufti of jerusalem. had an international following for his work from india to jerusalem to yugoslavia to london. everywhere there was communication and support for the arab war against the jews.

eventually after the arabs continually beckoned and not these for some form of alliance it all came to head when the penal commission in the 30s recommended that there be two actual states. they said we have tried for many years to get these people together. knowledge is time to cut the country in half. they said better britain should run as a colony for 100 years that we should live one day with jews as co = allowing them to sit when they pray at the wall. 99% of what you read in this book is all quotation in context from the or original arabic from the original german and the

regional english andy original british documentation. as we try to document carefully the roots of -- eventually the british began to see that their efforts to pushed the jews out of germany and out of europe was creating an actual jewish state. not just a big prison cell at beaches or reservation but an actual state. and that is a threat to the third reich because they believe in henry ford's theory of an international jewish state. at that point something else occurred. they realize as they were getting closer to war in 1937/1938 they were beginning to understand that the british

hoped to join us in anglo-saxon conquest of the lower forms of human life is not going to happen and war was coming and when war would come they would need one thing and that one thing did not grow in london. that one thing grew in the middle east and that was oil. arabs went to germans and when i say they went to german they went to hitler personally and said we will give you oil if you will kill all the jews, if you will recognize our state. they didn't mince words. i know it you know that the nazis like to talk about extermination in code. you translate gas chamber, it means special treatment. arabs made some of those such treatment. they said killed a do wherever you find them.

kill a jew before he kills you. this was and whispered. this was on the radio night after night, broadcast -- how does this make its way up to the farhud? the farhud was in 1941. world war ii was in full swing, and the nazis decided to launch operation garbo's the to invade russia. they couldn't get the oil. the oil they used was insufficient to. we will give you the oil, and in iran, all the oil we have, i declare an arab state and

finished the jews. everything arabs could do to make the country passed. in the spring of 1941, the jews of baghdad were on edge. they lived there for 2600 years but they knew there were many arab nazis. when i say and arab nazi i am not talking about a guy running around with a swastika armband. i am talking about hitler youth, i mean actual 100,000 young iraqi jews who went to nuremberg, who went to germany to why it -- march in porche like parades, iraqi arabs who went to germany, brought the concept back to organize the

german basis and who considered themselves actual nazis. i need to tell you the second most powerful name for a young child in the arab world was hitler. in fact you could today see some people on the internet, arabs whose name is hitler. i will give you an example. google a man by the name of hitler tantwi. he is an ordinary civil servant in charge of sufficiency. his name is hitler. they had a little theory going on. that adolf hitler was not born in austria. his real name was mohammad hadar. he was a little egyptian boy who visited all the mosques and he

was the new savior of the arab people. in fact the posters in the marketplace, in heaven your master is ala. on earth your master is a of hitler. in 1941 in june, just before june 1st there was a decision to totally exterminated jews. they were told to go to their homes, shut the home, stay off the phone, turn off the radio, you all know the scenario. due to last-minute -- by one of the arab leaders who was in good relation with the jewish people. he xl the cheap arab nazi who was doing this and at that point

he caused the extermination effect to fail. there was a mass riots of iraqi military men, iraqi police and arab nazis all over the streets from june 1st to june 2nd of 1941, killing hundreds of iraqis. what am i talking about? i am talking women being raped in front of their parents pleaded turtle parents being raped -- murdered in front of their kids, babies being sliced in half and thrown into the river, homes being invaded and people running up to rooftops and jumping from rooftop to rooftop to escaped and this was done with the full knowledge of the nazi government.

and operation of a few days before, and the chief arab agitators, had his office and working with the mufti of jerusalem and making this to kill all the jews of baghdad. it didn't work and because it didn't work it was labeled farhud. what does farhud mean? violent dispossession in arabic. that is the word we barely have in english so they use one word. there's not a jew in the united states or in the world listening to me who does not know what farhud is. there are many in this room who have worked with me to bring this information out. it has been suppressed because they want to pretend that the

catholic church a buy national group, by national genocidal group. you don't hear about this much. they were the single deadliest, most bloodthirsty killers in the entire world war ii era. one of my talking about? i am talking about a prison camp where there was a contest between the guards on how many throat's a slit in one night. one guy slid 1350 throats and the won. the next guy did 1100 and came in second. another guy did 650. he came in third. we documented all this stuff. who organized this? the mufti of jerusalem and the

nazis. i am talking about trench warfare. i spoke to a man in the partisans. they fought against the partisans in yugoslavia. thousands of them. artillery brigade. paratroopers. infantry. this was not just people rabble rousing in the streets. not just a bunch of people on the radio. this was a group helping hitler wage is a war against humanity. it is difficult when you talk about yugoslavia. some jews, you have muslims, bosnian muslims and the alliance has changed by the minute, by the hour, by the murderous makes and we have seen it today in that same part of the world.

the truth is that the worst crimes of the holocaust were committed by the muslim/catholic alliance, clients of the nazis in yugoslavia. eventually hitler lost the war. but the holocaust stopped in may of 1945 and continued in the middle east has all of the infrastructure was put into place by the arabs to make common cause not to destroy the jews. came into the middle east countries and invaded israel and invaded not to restore palestinian rights, not to restore their land but, quote, to exterminate the jews.

even used the reference the king of con. this phrase was invented in the 1920s. not the 1930s 440s. [speaking arabic] palestine is our land, the jew is our dog. this was not 1945. this was 1920. this was not 1939. this was 1920. this was a regular chant.

all these guys whose names were hitler or adolf, common cause after world war ii, 2,000 prison guards, gestapo, migrated into the middle east, egypt, for the sole purpose of waging war against israel with propaganda, and sanctions. with military maneuvers, war, the independence war in 1948 and 0 wars that came to pass. nazi mastermind, german masterminds, behind-the-scenes war in the front of the arab names. bringing this to reality. what does this mean for us

today? we see a guy called mohammed hadi loss he says i will never recognize israel as a jewish state. why didn't you mention this or that? i didn't mention 90% of what i said in the book. i didn't mention 99% of everything we have done. it could have been a book on to its gulf war a small bookshelf. i did endeavor to give clarity to how it is from their perspective that arabs were able to form an alliance with

synopses -- nazis with 1400 kid and howard played out during the war. and howard continued in vote 20th century. the twenty-first century is owned by the 20th century. no oil, no iraq, no british petroleum, no need for middle east wars. it was oil. no one ever went to mesopotamia to iraq. it was only what was underneath the sand which brought them and that is what the arabs and muslims of that world refiled. not just the muslims in

palestine, in iraq or iran but also yugoslavia, india twitter and etc.. what is the message? the message is that we want to use this information. as truth and reconciliation. so we can understand how we got here. do not misuse my information to recreate a new legacy of hate. used it to confront the legacy of hate so we can move forward with all people in the middle east to create a future of peace. the germans and jews have reconciled. there coexisting as allies. that began in june of 1945.

it is possible, it is difficult. it is difficult when it is not 13 years as it was for the third reich. with this information i hope to arm you with what you need to understand our presence and our past. thank you. [applause] now i will take questions but first some remote questions which have been given to us in advance by various people around the country and overseas. the first question, i will take questions from the audience. how much time to i have? much as i want -- okay. here is a question from a guy at the university of miami his studies middle east history. he talks about the fact that the book documents -- for which i did not mentioned -- that the

jews were expelled from arab lands after world war ii, were expelled from arab lands into israel. all the money was taken. they emulated the iman program. do i support israel's foreign ministry to include in future peace talks when addressing refugees, the case of 800 to 900,000 jews of arab lands. staying out of contemporary affairs i will tell you at the time this occurred half a century ago, israeli foreign ministry said we have to keep this disposition of the ridges from orca to libya to iraq and all these countries.

all these countries, balancing peace, justice and 3 enfranchisement in the middle east. there's no question people in this room work every day to argue for the return of property. leo and many others are looking the for the return of their property in poland and czechoslovakia and germany and parts of russia. there are many jews in the arab world who were left penniless. what do i mean? they took them out and pulled the rings out of their years and took bracelets from their arms and did everything possible to leave them penniless. why? because the arabs thought we don't have the manpower to kill all the jews. we don't wish to now. although they did have concentration camps in north

africa. the manpower to do that. what we will do is create a demographic bond. we will flood a million jews into israel. they won't know what to do with them. they will be on the beach and israel will collapse. that did not occur. arabs were kept in refugee camps for decades. the jews were absorbed into is really society immediately and as you all know, who is running the israeli government today? one way or the other, in many instancess, jews who came from arab countries. they were not marginalize. they were not left to die on the sand. this is a historic truth. you must acknowledge what happened to a million jews who were in the middle class and the upper class or the mercantile class were penniless. the second question here comes

from miami. was submitted by e-mail. it talks about in light of what you have discovered about the muslim catholic alliance that murdered tens and tens of jews and served -- many muslims died at their hands. how does this relate to our understanding of recent international events in kosovo? i can't tell you how complicated yugoslavia is. i can't tell you how many partial countries, temporary countries, territories, kosovo, bosnia, albania. they all came and went with

different alliances to kill each other. the catholics at one point decided that all from muslims were going to be honorary catholics or honorary croatians. we should always understand, always understand that whatever we have today does not appear suddenly. here is the question. this comes from western freight from los angeles. how does any of this relate to the boycott and sanctions movement against israel? we hear about this all the time. what are the historical roots of this movement? when did this start?
