>> trying to explain and the show the powers that moves through the world causey a little bit of grief and intended to do what on socialism but died before he was the initial i did that for him. it is a great game he said to have stripped communism from the fraud aid to college the naked communist so he did. >> host: who was a father? >> a former fbi and prolific author and writer the naked communist was a national best-seller the up naked communist bloc dash capitalist was a bestseller that is a lot of the 1950's.
1:02 pm
>> host: so why does "the naked socialist"? >> there was one that was not fleshed out in the other books that is what i did. socialism is more than a political party more than just a name that we call people that we disagree with the word that is fairly modern that shows bad idea is that they are a result of humanity. we just happened to call it socialism. >> host: what are the seven pillars of socialism? >> guest: the all-powerful ruler. as i went down to steady socialist societies and cultures i found the seven common ideas a group individuals. society and set to be divided in the classroom there is always the elitist class and get the favors and the hell than the money that
1:03 pm
was the second characteristic. in rulers promised things in common we will make it fair and take from the haves and give to the have nots. we will achieve their nests -- fairness we must regulate from the top and they all do that so regulation is number four. number five is done with force. comply or your desk. 6,000 years of history that has always been there of course, number six is the control of information nato allies if they are the only ones that have the permission to tell the lives they have to speak truth information control numbers, statistics, the media planting things and number seven is there is no such thing as the unalienable right to.
1:04 pm
they tell you what your rights are so those seven bad ideas now you know, them you to look anywhere in history in the united states now is see which of those are growing and that is evidence that socialism is hear ya have to be a political science major you look at those seven markers and know that we have troubles. >> host: where is the united states with regard to those seven tellers? >> guest: we are well under way. our constitution towards socialism but it has been so ignored and abused and changed and altered by the supreme court there is now culture in our nation by college thinking like a socialist. that is what they want us to do the first reaction should be how can the government solve it for me? government's role is verybut tos
1:05 pm
reversed we don't how the control over our senators that we should. >> host: what do you mean? >> guest: the 17th amendment is what got in the way the way it was originally set up i have a tremendous rent howard stephen is a state senator in utah. a good friend we even go to church together he is my state senator. i can go to howard and say our senator just voted for t.a.r.p. and he is voting to increase government he is out of control. i don't like that and how word goes to the legislature and talks to the others they say we hear the same thing. they get on the phone and say you are fired. they take the senator home and send a replacement. now that can happen today but that is how the founders set up. today if i am mad at my
1:06 pm
senator i have to wait five and a half or six years for the next election. and he can do a lot more damage during that timeframe but the 17th amendment did destroy our representative government at the direct election of senators. that is one of the movement's toward a strong tough government of socialism that government contains. >> chapter 57 bad amendments is the name of the chapter eight and you say bad points of the 14th amendment? >> we have so many good intentions when they violate correct principles, then the country stars to go off into areas that create more problems stem the road.
1:07 pm
one is about citizenship be here long enough to have a baby that baby can become a citizen. that shows all kinds of havoc with our immigration issues and that is what we're fighting and wrestling right now because good people usually want to come to our country but we need a mechanism to keep those out that will hurt the country. how do you do that? that system was torn down. >> host: isn't the 14th amendment known as the due process amendments? >> guest: correct. >> host: people are in favor of that and it was used in slavery. >> guest: correct. eyeless to those parts but at the same time it was very
1:08 pm
poorly written we need to revisit to take care of some of these negatives because yes we like that with ending slivers -- slavery but an equal protection was injected with the 14th and states are meant to protect to those citizens. that takes that away and says we can tax at whatever rate we want and the state say no. we wanted to be the same for all the people and the federal government says sari. it is a big discussion and it is complicated that is why i like to clarify those. >> you go back several thousand years part of the warrior socialist was
1:09 pm
yabbies pillars of socialism in your mind. >> would get this. nothing was changed going back to ancient china and india and greece here you have the society taking foyers from their parents had a very young age of sending them into the military training for what purpose? to be a warrior civil society is destructive to the family into their culture to know how they graduated the slave population among the spartans, would graduate once every year and take the 18 killed warriors to say go out and find somebody causing problems and kill
1:10 pm
them. that is your graduation. they could sneak up and take them now and this is the list of the most undesirable. so those seven pillars appear through each of history. >> host: part 15? how many pages? >> guest: 500 of the good stuff and the appendix. [laughter] >> host: the quote that you look with a greater change in the greater evil. >> guest: is a that a great''? >> is the primary goal of socialism. to allow the ninth best of
1:11 pm
the government that is the duty of the constitution has he did not allow that to have been the founders were not dummies. they knew this was going on so now the government said for us to serve you we need money. we have to get a summer house so they do that now through the income-tax to justify their existence to the prosperity so once again this scenario has unfolded everybody should read this and they explain the principles for freedom.
1:12 pm
>> host: what is your background? >> guest: i was, i worked for the cia i was a military analyst and i moved into the operations center that was 24/7 watching the world of something would happen and he would tell them what they needed to know. at the white house that same position opened up in the situation room so i went over there to and a half years with president reagan at the start of a second term that is actually what keeps me into something is wrong that started me on my study of socialism. reagan's hands were tied and thinking like the socialists had infected his closest advisers i had a people and i could watch him i could spider-man of your suppose to but to the conference room they had to sliding
1:13 pm
wooden doors and we in the situation room if we have to give a message would look through the peephole to see them i would lean against the door to watch president reagan and i thought why are you leading? you are our great dynamic president. then i came to realize that the brilliant strategist was fighting fire with fire because some of his own people were feeling america's problems in terms of bigger government, thinking like a socialist. that good man fought very hard to get around that. i admires him greatly. >> host: your book on presidency and socialism you take on richard nixon and come inflated regulatory control. >> guest: yes. it was a real challenge. when a president gets the
1:14 pm
power what do they do with it? will they stay within the constitutional boundaries or use the loose interpretation to perpetuate and build their own legacy? and just about as every president did, it was not very often the president tried to shrink the government. trick -- nixon tried to inflate dip but what shocked me is jimmy carter. who likes jimmy carter? there are some real problems with him. he is a good man in his heart i started to look into his legacy and he actually wanted to shrink government. at the time i was in college and to long -- too young to appreciate it. we should have supported that but his own democratic party came out against him. the 19 things he said i will automatically veto but the
1:15 pm
party turned against him and they wanted to grow government and he tried to shrink there. who would have thought? despite the things we are mad at him we should be grateful his attitude was that. >> host: not a great difference between republicans and democrats? >> guest: not today. republicans try to a large government because that is the answer to power. tax and tax and vote and go and spend and spend so republicans adopt that mitt romney i think tried to stop that to say we have to cut back. that scared people. one of the devious truisms of the socialist mentality to make people dependent upon the government. once you are dependent, when we retire, who will pay the bills? we look forward to medicare and not national health
1:16 pm
care. [laughter] but the government saving us and helping us. if a politician says i turned off, sorry, that's the way it goes, that scares people. that is what thinking like a socialist leads to. so letting a start is a big mistake. >> host: paul skousen we talked "the naked socialist" how does that companion -- compared to "the naked communist" for the naked capitalist? >> guest: that capitalist -- the communist take shoes to karl marx to the growth of communism and life either treated that as a particular element also how it creeps into our culture but what i try to do is get under that to say why? why is that so insidious and evil? then naked capitalist was a look at how the money was socialized
1:17 pm
i love of margaret thatcher's'' taken out of context and combined but socialism works and tell day by not of other people's money. i love that. how to get other people's money? that is what "the naked capitalist" is about. , the book review tragedy and hope is the big fat book of coulter hundred pages but carol explains and shows how central banking gradually unfolded in our society and eventually putting countries into debt. i was just adding this sub. all of us pay billions and billions.
1:18 pm
they are private institutions alexander hamilton had that idea with a constitutional convention the other founders left him out of the room he went home only showed up two or three times during the development of the constitution. and "the naked capitalist" exurbs long quotes so they cannot say selective quotations to talk about central banking and howard kurtz us. >> host: chapter 56 eutopia written by thomas more and upton sinclair why is that both the socialist?
1:19 pm
>> they all follow the same pattern. if we violate the principles for the good of the whole, we can have great harmony in our society. lookout nice things will be if we just cooperate together. but we are not. the founding fathers understood that so the solution is always strong government they don't consider freedom or individual action and that is the reason some of these others are in their. yes there needs to be a cooperative but the founders said very minimal at the top table handles problems. >> we have been publishing
1:20 pm
my father's book we ever on distribution channels i did not even ask anyone if they were interested so we need to develop a curriculum that they can read and understand that things will get worse because we're on a downward slope. socialism is interesting the slope down to bankruptcy the history section of the book i show how cultures collapse they always collapse so people are born up here and they die down here and we have problems things need help it is that we all the way down people from europe will stop by to sign live in socialism in england or germany and they were fine.
1:21 pm
another friend says tell me about the whole system andy said it is horrible. yes you can go to any hospital to get help right away but it is 30 after eight months at a time of his major they don't have anything like america but they do in the private health care sector in england with other hospitals like? hours. can you get an mri? that day. it is a beautiful example of the slope of socialism people think not on the other hand, but the wonderful free enterprise driven system that offers so much more. there is a lot of hope to get back to the basic principles. >> host: where does president obama said in your view? >> guest: yes. he is a big government and in people ask is he a
1:22 pm
socialist? i say that depends on your definition of socialism. the definition that i always use is government forced to control or change society and obama is right there trying to control and change a society the founding fathers developed and built the constitution so that could not happen that individual is to be hired to help guide and correct the country not to change at. government forced to control and change society's wonder that definition obama is definitely a socialist has not declared himself a member of that party and i love the proverb as demand -- as a man thinks of his heart as is the. >> host: how was the selling? >> very well. it is available for download
1:23 pm
on amazon also for the amazon kendall. >> host: you have a previous book yes. [laughter] it my research as an elected to the different countries most oppressed people had a sense of humors that was there break from the tension of having to go through the idiocy for decades. i gather that information plus other little tidbits to bring it together as a collective of, the comedy and i will give you just one the comrade is addressing the communist party and in 1968 we were standing on the edge of the best. since then we have taken a significant step forward. [laughter] >> host: that is true?
1:24 pm
>> that is a real joke they also talk about why is capitalism on the edge? so they could see a socialist better. [laughter] wonderful sense of humor i put in world records which has the best facial hair? that seems to be the best to has the most murders or death and? mao wrought wins that one the soviet union itself, since i can't it is just terrific people look at that but how quickly it came because of those seven bad idea is that people allowed. >> host: we have been talking with author paul skousen of his most recent book "the naked socialist" also the author of the bathroom leader.
1:25 pm
here are the books. you are watching booktv on c-span2. >> host: what do you think of president obama? >> every year we meets at this time give me a handshake. we're like old friends. my book sums up the -- "the ultimate obama survival guide" i don't think much of president obama i. d. key is destroying the economy. every day and every way. a very smart hybridizing he hates capitalism he hates business and i think he hates businessmen and businesswomen but he is brilliant because he hides it he is like a stealth marxist he shakes hands and smiles and tells people that i am a moderate and it is
1:26 pm
boyle the frog slowly it is destroying america slowly and tell people don't realize is and that is what is happening. columbia university when i went there if there was a space planned that was conceived by professors klauer demanded then they said the only way to destroy america from within you like somebody that appears to be a moderate but then overwhelms the with debt overwhelms the system with debt with entitlements. if you cannot see that, not just you but if you cannot notice that clearly happening then i would argue you are blind and i have a bridge to sell you in brooklyn. the entitlements are toppling the united states
1:27 pm
economy. >> host: why do you think president obama hates business owners? >> guest: he is a socialist. he wants government in control of everything that is a lot bigger ft a really rich people you need them on your side you need to contain contribution act like they support you so he loves it when the war buffet or jeffrey immelt or the hollywood big shots he loves that. obama loves the super rich a and in between the middle class is slaughtered, a murdered, from coast to coast from sea to shining sea with small business racked that is the obama plan and it will get worse in the future because all of this pilot -- grab your children and grandchildren
1:28 pm
to put them in a worse position than we are right now. >> host: with "the ultimate obama survival guide" what is the specific the administration is doing in your view? >> we have a fiscal cliff disaster. one thing obama and i have in common he goes out to sell the fiscal cliff disaster fatigue conjures up the deal then we are bankrupt and we owe 1 trillion of deficits and 100 trillion of unfunded liabilities and how you solve it? we add 4 trillion to the debt that is the obama solution and their brilliant congress signed off on that so we got that to wreck the jobs and 4 trillion of new spending to solve the debt crisis that makes no sense
1:29 pm
now history books will look back to save the worst don't or asleep and did not wake up for 50 years and say how could anyone be so stupid as american people work in the years of obama? how do they let this happen? heidi spend a spending crisis by baker to the only people successful business owners. >> host: you write if you are the independent thinker or are a capitalist if you own a business or the independent contractor or earn a high income it is not your quality that obamacare is about fairness and social justice have nothing to do with you with the obama agenda you are the oppressor >> guest: right. his job certainly is not to
1:30 pm
