their religion to people, well some people find that to be offensive. they don't want people coming to their door talking about religion. how do you deal with not? what kind of social norms you put in place to allow people the ability to express religious identity and other people the right to feel like they don't have somebody questioning their religion cracks it is a complicated mix. >> host: you must get a lot of the dissenters at the thanksgiving table. this wasn't her twice. and then she emerges as someone trusted with a decision making power in her life and death matters. she really changes and transforms to be reunited with her family. >> how did you come about this particular piece of subject matter? >> i read about the diary because she has a trip from st. petersburg russia to paris in 40 days and i thought this could be a movie. then i realized it means to be a book about both of them and their relationship and how they get strength from one another and so that is how this came to be. >> is the book empathizing your foreign policy in that era war is emphasizing more of their relationship or a little of both? >> it's a little bit of both, john adams meet norman t. and because in that sense you get the war of 1812 and global politics involved but you also

get a sense of their strength between the two of them and how to gather, they've on russia over to say we are these united states and he was so successful the british prime minister said that it was now half an american. you would never hear that today. so it is a good success story that way. >> do you have another project coming up? >> i've been working on white house phoenix which is the burning of the house and the dalia and james madison and about the star spangled banner because next year as the 200th anniversary of the minority teen 12th and the banner where we ended it. >> thank you for your time. we are in the gallery of the light catcher building at the museum. we are looking at the vanishing
